Good morning Peeps!!!

This is it.... My last day at Mercy after 14 1/2 years... Arrgghhh it is a mix emotion... all I have been doing for the past week is cry ... Peeps who I have been with orientation 14 years ago had come up and bid goodbye.... But also excited since I am starting a new pension pla !!!

Starting tomorrow morning Dising will be my thing So watch out!!!! And anybody feel like spooning on the weekends at POP ... keep me in mind !!!

Timmy--I was pretty emotional when I left my job, too...and I was only there 3 years! I really wanted to quit, but it was a big change, and I worried about the people I left. Have a great last day!

PJ - when are you guys moving ? do you have a limited time frame to get the work done? For some reason, I remember you telling us you were moving...but did I space on the work part? I don't remember that. Is there a lot of work on the new space?

We are trying to get in by april 12, thats the date we set, but the way things are going maybe a little later. I have as long as i need to get out of the place i'm in now and into the new palce. It needs a little work, small projects. The dely is the contractors, 2 more were supposed to come today for the new place one was a no show and the other rescheduled for the 2nd time for tomorrow.

Most of the work is because a old couple lived there the last 20 years and really were neat, but the place needs a little freshing up, if you know what i mean. The paint and wall paper is 20 years old as well as the rugs. The rug people were supposed to come next monday but i moved them to the following monday. The real problem is getting painters and a contractor, if i could just get that, we could move ahead.

A few guys at the fire house have thier own buissnesses and offered to help, but i told them no. One of the rules at the FDNY if you offer to help someone in your fire house it has to be done for free, of course i have to buy the materials, but they would not take money from me. This is not a rule the offical FDNY, as i stated above, it has to do with the brotherhood or tradition and the way FDNY were taught for hundreds of years. You don't take or make a commision off of family and in the FDNY everyone is family, it has been taught and told like that for hundreds of years and will be the same way for hundreds more.

It's considered rude to offer him money and its rude for him to expect money or give a bill. This is why i can't hire anyone in the FDNY, otherwise this job would be done already, but i don't want any of my guys having to work for free, when most of them have little mouths at home that they need to feed and certainly won't take a dime from me, i always felt that to be rude and won't use my own, others in the FDNY take advantage of it.



Me and dw ripped apart the wooden kitchen cabinets and sanded them and used stripper, then we are gonna refinish them. They will look nice, so far it's day 2 of the kitchen cabinets and i would say by tomorrow it will be done. So small 3 day projects like that is all it really needs, other than fresh paint and rugs.

I don't have to cook for a month!!! I went home with a truckful of food! Three peeps brought in rottisseri chicken from Boston Market, One Vietnamese lady who always makes me mei fun brought in a lasagna pan size "faint" .. pastries.. cakes... stir fried veggies... a container full of liver with onions... bags of coffee...(the only thing they did not do is pay my mortgage hahahaha) gift cards for restaurants around RMH and this is on top of what we ate for dinner. I felt like I was going to war with all this care packages which made it really hard to go. I was sobbing on my way home like a baby! I got stopped by the cop.. must be swerving... when he saw me crying... and told him I was not drunk nor been drinking (a quick swift of food came out of my window and I bet he got to smell how delicious it was LOL) and just left my work place for 14 years... LOL he offered his kind words and let me go! I must have called everybody I have in my address book (and yes I was nice enough to spare you guys at 3AM..LOL) second guessing myself and was asking for some confirmation that I am not going crazy/insane!

Now it is 3Pm I was able to do my nails.. hand and toe.. curl my hair.. and DIS and BUG Cath!!! And will have to stop at Borders to get a bokk then off to work... shoot... this is so not my regular schedule so it must be a good thing !!!

Hey gang,

Well i got to do it, i got to fire my first contractor today. Does it count if he was not even hired yet???? This guy told me on friday that he would come by on monday at noon, of course noon came and then it was same day at 6pm. Of course 6 came and i got another call for a reschedule, this went on for 3 days. Today is wednesday and he was suppose to come by at noon yesterday then called and pushed it to 6 yesterday, then it was 3 pm today and then at 3 it was 8, at 8, i told him not to bother and call anymore.

He asked if i found anyone, i told him not yet and actually asked if he could come by tommorrow at noon, i said sure why not. When he calls at noon, i will send him to a wrong adress and tell him to call when he gets outside, when he does call me, i will tell him i need to reschedule, lets see how he likes a taste of his own medicine. Reguardless he will not be getting this job, i don't care if he is the last contractor on the face of the earth. This guy gave me a run a round for 3 days, now its my turn. I mean if i can't even trust him to come by to get hired for the job, i'm sure putting a lot of money in his hand will be a great idea on my part.

He is not dependable to even get the job, never mind get the job done or do it right, he is not being hired.


Antoher guy came by tonight, he came very highly recommended and seemed like he knew what he was doing. He looked around and told us what we needed and what the job will take in terms of time frames and materials. He said one thing that made us like him, he said he will give us a list of all the materials he needs, we go and buy it. He does not take any money upfront, when the job is done, then we have to pay, in full. I liked the fact that no money is taking up front, gives him incentive to get the job done on time and get it done perfect.

Good morning Peeps!!! This is awesome! I was up at 6AM with no help from my alarm clock... The 1st day was great... I got there on time and got home as early as midnite!!! Crazy!!! Why did I not do this long time ago... Now I have more time to contemplate about John ( Cath )!!! I had veggie soup for dinner last nite and all I did was chuckle left and right it was tooooooooo funny!

Ok.. I am just waiting for the time then I have to go for an eye check up then back to work at $pm till midnite....

Pj - when we did our big addition on our house 5 years ago (added 1800 sf)....I thought Mike was going to personally go get a few of the contracters out of bed to finish the job! It was extrememly frustrating! I hope this guy you found works out.....I've found that in general that "group" of folks seem to have a very different definition of "timely" than I do....now I know there are good contracters out there, & we've had a few.....but overall

Well we leave tomorrow am for Florida....& of course Grace wakes up today with a 101 FEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can I just say UGH. I'm taking her to the doc at 11:30, just want to make sure her lungs/ears/throat are good....Hopefully she'll give me a script for amoxicillian in case it progresses while we're in fl.

Speaking of FL...I'll be at MK on Wed & Epcot on Thursday.....anyone need anything? Nicole - I'm going to PM you my cell.....I don't know if you're working or off....& we're going to be swarmed in wall to wall people...but ifyou happen to be over at either of the parks give me a call..
