As a non practising Catholic I am surprised by how sad I feel about the death of the Pope. I guess I'm sad because we've lost a good and sincere man - may he rest in peace.

As an Anglican I alo feel great saddness that a man who served God so well has gone. The world will not see his like in a hurry.

As a practising Catholic, albeit one who sometimes finds herself at odd's with the teachings of the Church, I feel very sad.

He was undoubtedly a great and holy man who was an inspiration to us all. Forward looking and liberal in many areas, but very conservative in others. Going forwards I would hope for a new Pope with a less conservative approach in certain areas such as contraception (particularly the use of condoms as a defence against STD's) and women priests

as an unpractising christian, I find his passing very sad, I think he was a great man who did a great many wonderful things, though some of his views may not have been to my view, he stood by what he believed.

As a occasionally church going Anglican, I found the Pope's death very sad, and as my Mum has Parkinsons Disease, also a little afraid.
