My son was wondering if there is popcorn at the movie theatre or the stage show theatre? And does it cost anything extra if it is? :confused3

Yes and yes.

But it isn't like the popcorn at your movie theater at home. It's like what you buy in the grocery store chip aisle already popped.

I can't tell you how much it is - I've never gotten any.

Pre-packaged snacks, including popcorn, carry an additional charge. Like LisaBi said, it isn't freshly popped. It is bagged, like in the grocery store. They sell it at Preludes outside the Walt Disney Theater (stage shows) and at a temporary stand set up just outside the Buena Vista Theater (movies) before showtime. Rather than pay the extra money we usually get some fries, fruit or ice cream from Deck 9 and take it to the movie theater with us.

And that's OK to do? I mean you don't have to "sneak" it in or anything, do you?

No, no, it's perfectly okay! You can also get a nice cheese & cracker platter, potato chips, cookies and/or Mickey ice cream bars through room service and in the evenings they put out nachos and all of the fixings in Diversions (adult only at that time...if your son wants some you'll have to get them for him).

The cheese & cracker platter is a MUST. It has some Awesome cheese on it, my cousin and I wore room service out ordering.......yummy! The BLT is awesome also.

I saw on the room service menu it says 'buttered popcorn' - is this hot buttered popcorn or just this packaged stuff?

What a great tip! :thanks: With our upcoming cruise being our first one ever, I wouldn't have thought of that and would have ended up paying the inflated prices for snacks at the theater door!

We have taken pizza from Pinoccios Pizzeria into the theatre before, and I'm sure they'll let you take anything else you want in.

There is also the shop outside the theatre, Preludes. They sell candy, drinks, and popcorn (i think) for you to purchase. Room service is free too, so bring in your big island cookies!

It is the packaged stuff and there will be a charge for it. They do not have a popcorn machine onboard.

We also usually bring a couple of individual-size packages of candy for each of us for the movies. It doesn't take up much room in our suitcase and is cheaper than buying it onboard.

It's a chocolate chip cookie. YOu can get them through room service or on the lunch buffets' dessert table. They are REALLY good! They offer Oatmeal Raisin cookies through room service as well.

Is there anywhere to use a microwave to pop some fresh popcorn if I were to bring some from home?

DS really likes the natural (no salt / no butter) kind.

Nope, sorry. There are no microwaves for public use onboard.
