I take it this is a youth sports org. but what kind of impact does it have on the parks. We are trying to plan our first December trip and can not decide if this is a weekend we should try to avoid or not. TIA.:thumbsup2

We've been during Pop Warner, the parks are busy. It has no impact on the DVC resorts, but it cerainly impacts the All Stars resorts. I tried to avoid itthis year, but Pop Warner is going the 2nd weekof December this year, instead of the first  ...so I'll let you know how much of an impact it has this year.

Sounds good. I think we were leaning towards the first weekend in dec. DW is hoping to catch the taping of the xmas special:confused3 .

My DH and I were there during Pop Warner last year. It was our first time to WDW and we stayed at the All Star Movies. The biggest impact was the busses, as we did not rent a car and relied solely on those, and the lines for the rides in the evenings when the events were not going on. We still enjoyed ourselves (so much that we just bought DVC), but will try to avoid Pop Warner in the future. The crowds were not too overly bad (though I do not really have anything to compare it too since I have only been once), but it was the cheerleaders that about drove my DH insane.

We went back in December '06 and yes the cheerleaders are the ones that drove me crazy. I can remember waiting in line at Exp. Everest for 45 minutes or more and the whole time those cheerleaders were cheering. I thought it was cute at first, but 45 min. nonstop was too much. Next time we will try and go the week before or the week after.

It depends on how you define "first week". Dec 1 is a Monday, so that week starts with Nov 30. The first Sunday is Dec 7, which is when their competition starts. If they started Nov 30, they would be traveling on the weekend following Thanksgiving, which is when they have their regional championships.

I was there Dec 1 to 7 last year (Sun to Fri), which is when they were there. I stayed at BWV, they were not staying there. I really didn't notice them much around the parks. The weekend was crowded, that was the parade taping but the weekdays were not bad.

:cheer2: I am glad we were not the only ones driven crazy by the cheerleaders. I thought it was cute at first also, but after a 30 minute wait for the Haunted House our first night, well, let's just say we couldn't wait for Pop Warner to be over (we were there for 10 days, so the last few days was REALLY relaxing).

If you aren't staying at the all starts or POR you won't have to live them! DH and I have NOTHING nice to say about Pop Warner. We didn't know about it and back in the day we stayed at ASMo and after 3 nights of no sleep during an 8 night trip, Disney was very kind, did the right thing, and moved us to another resort. They really don't crowd the parks too bad, but they are obnoxious! (the parents/chaperones are worse) Pop is late this year, so they will be leaving when we arrive this year. We've never seen anyone from that group be respectful to anyone. The cheering is obnoxious and they don't know when to quit, the adults with the group are just plain rude and feel that they are "entitled" and did not have to abide by the same courtesies the rest of us do while we are at WDW. I sincerely hope that enough people have complained over the years and that Disney does not renew their contract in 2010.
