POP WARNER WEEK update! They may move it LATER, not earlier...

Well Our dates are the 10th through the 18th. I have read alot on here about Pop Warner but it is value season and the lowest crowds of the year. How much could they effect? How would the crowds be affected? Do they have a park to go to on a given day or do they just do what ever? How much time do they get in the parks with all they have going on? I have never been on Pop warner week but I don't think I am going to change my plans around them. I did just speak to my husband about changing our dates a few days ago but I personaly wouldn't just because of Pop Warner. Maybe I will live and learn but I guess I will have to wait nad see. :earboy2: I am to excited to go to get myself worried about something I may not have to worry about. :cool1:

Ok I am going on and on. It is to early here. I am truley addicted when I am up at 5 am and want to check the Dis Boards. :lovestruc

I have been there during Pop Warner in both 2002 and 2003. The groups that I ran into were not bad in the parks. Yes, a couple of times a group of cheerleaders broke into spontanious cheers, but not much. I stay at OKW so I didn't need to deal with them in the evenings. Maybe Disney nees to reserve the entire All Star Sports for Pop Warner. And possibly do the same thing with one of the moderates, Either Caribbean Beach or French Quarter (Caribbean Beach because it's seperate, and French Quarter because it's the smallest.) Block out whole resorts to get the rooms they need. Yes I know check-in for them will be a mad house but given the posts I've read It already is. Split the all star busses during this time and I think 90% of problem would be solved by giving POP their own little worlds. Yes you would get a few people walking to the other all-stars to eat but not many. Yes they will still be roaming the park and cheering but, if people can sleep in piece at night that goes along ways to fixing the problem. I am planning on going this year from Dec 7-15 So I get into Pop Warner either way next year.

NO!!!! I'm planning to make another solo trip in early December to see the Christmas decorations and am a very light sleeper. I had planned to stay at a value since it's going to be just me. On my new 2005 calendar I already have a line drawn through Dec 4th-Dec10th with POP WARNER WEEK @ WDW=AVOID!!! I was planning my trip for Dec 11th-17th in order to avoid them. Like the other poster said, I don't have anything against these kids, I just don't want to have to deal with them on my vacation enmass as far as noise late at night and early in the morning, food courts, cutting lines in the parks, etc. From what I read on some of the boards they didn't have enough chaperones to watch them or the chaperones were drunk alot of the time and as rude at the kids. Cheerleaders were loud, rude, and oblivious to those around them (ie knocking over little kids and not even apologizing or noticing) and breaking into cheers at all hours. I also read where there were some fights among the football players. Do I need all of this on my expensive vacation? NO THANKS!!! I'm sure most of them are good kids and just excited to be at WDW, but I for one want to avoid them and don't think it's fair that I may have to book a Deluxe resort or else change my dates to do so. POP Warner needs to hurry up and make their minds up and also needs to send more chaperones with these kids, so they don't get the reputation they have.

I read on one of there boards that a knife fight broke out at one of the off site hotels, I'm sorry but if your going to act like fools then noone is going to want to be around that!!!!! Why should families who are paying the big bucks to take there kids on a dream vacation and have to worry about all of those teenagers who are out of control!!!!!! There is noone around to control the problem I have read alot of terrible things about this group and I don't need them to ruin my trip, some people can't afford to move up to a deluxe hotel for every trip... :guilty:

:guilty: I went to there web site to find this poll and I cannot find it, can someone please pass along the link...Thanks...

Ariel fan, on the main page (popwarner.com) the poll is on the upper left hand side.

If being there when the cheerleaders is a problem for you then the best way to make sure you won't be awoken by them is to avoid the value resorts and CBR where I hear they offer rooms to the groups also? POFQ would be a safe bet that they won't be there. I doubt they will be at CSR either since they have their own convention schedule there.

I can't believe that pop warner is thinking about changing their dates. I kept their website bookmarked for a year waiting for them to announce the pop warner dates for 2005.

I'm booked at the Poly for Dec 10-17 and even though I won't have to deal with them at the resort I'm not looking forward to large groups of wild kids in the parks. I really feel for anyone who has to actually share a resort with them.

I can't change the dates of my vacation so I'll just deal with it and hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised and they'll keep their original week. I know I'll be voting on their website multiple times.

If you're staying at the Poly, I wouldn't change your plans. I stayed at BWV and even though a couple groups were a little irritating in the parks, they were nowhere in sight at the resort (except for a few on a surrey bike on the boardwalk doing a group cheer). They usually did not travel in large groups, I'd say no more than 5.

We were at WDW this past Dec.(3-11), and before the trip I was very paranoid about Pop Warner-we were going to stay at the All Star Movies for part of our trip, and I changed our ressies to be just at the Wilderness Lodge. Staying at the WL, we didn't have any difficulties with large groups of kids. There were only a few times at the parks where we felt the impact of some groups of kids-waiting in line (or getting in line and sort of being stampeaded by a large group of kids following each other). There were also a few times when my 5 & 8 year old daughters heard some language that I'd rather them not hear (but that can happen anywhere...). We also had an encounter with a very polite young man who was part of a Pop Warner group-when we were in the first part of Muppets, some boys kept moving over in front of my petite 5 year old, and this one boy kept mentioning to his friends that she was there and had them move. I made a point of thanking him for being so polite. I think it's easy for kids in a large group to "go with the flow-act cool" and forget about others, esp. adolescent-aged kids, but some don't...

We were there this past year the same time that Pop Warner was there. We had no idea that they were going to be there. They didn't bother us at all. There were times that they did start cheering and stuff, but overall they were pretty nice.

On the Backstage tour there was a group of girls in with us.. the chaporones (sp?) were great about making sure that they were not being too crazy and obnoxious! LOL

We will be going back the same time this year, w/o any knowledge of them until this post, but it won't make me change my mind.
