We were planning on coming down to WDW from 11/28-12/3. Mostly because it's my daughter's bday & I wanted it to be really special because she loves Disney & part of my potty training motivation has been a trip to see Mickey (she will be 4 on 12/2).

Anyway, I see that Pop Warner starts around 12/1. A few questions:

1. What hotels do they use? We had wanted to stay at POP but after reading some posts, I think to avoid the crowd we would stay at a moderate resort - but which one?

2. Crowd level. I know to avoid MK that weekend because of the parade filming. We normally visit WDW in Sept - so how does this week compare? I just don't want another trip to FL & have to deal w/the heat & humidity which is why I thought this would be a good week crowd level.

3. I have been to Disney during the middle of July & have dealt w/the Brazilian tour groups. Is Pop Warner just as bad?

Thanks. Any info is appreciated.

silly question, maybe, but what is Pop Warner??
:confused3
we are doing WDW from 12/1-12/8 and staying at POR... ( last time i was at WDW was in the 80's) I had thought this would be a fairly quiet time to go?? ( i had also heard that the filming of the parade takes place that first weekend and was planning to get to it later in the week...)

I just don't want another trip to FL & have to deal w/the heat & humidity which is why I thought this would be a good week crowd level. Crowd level is excellent at this time. We like to go the 2nd week of Dec., and it has always been very nice -- low low crowd level.

3. I have been to Disney during the middle of July & have dealt w/the Brazilian tour groups. Is Pop Warner just as bad? I really only noticed them at the food courts at the resort, and a bit on the buses, but the food courts were more annoying -- they're quite loud

Thanks. Any info is appreciated.

Hope this helps.

The past few years the Pop Warner groups have stayed at the Allstar Sports or the Allstar Music. The moderate resort has been the POR with the over flow to the POFQ.
Because they do travel in groups, they will appear at the food courts and the pools all at the same time. I would definitely stay away from the Allstar Resorts and the POR during your trip. I suspect that the Pop Warner dates will be 12/2-12/8, I think (but I could be wrong) that there event is around the 1st Sunday in December.
I have taken several trips while the Pop Warner groups are in WDW, and I've been during July when the tour groups are there. The Pop Warner groups do not have as much impact on the parks as the tour groups do, during the day most of the Pop Warner groups are at their competions etc. The biggest effect they have would be on the night they are in MGM and then the park is closed to the public, that usually is on a Friday night.

Oh Darn, POR is really our only choice as a moderate since we're a family of 5... hopefully the buses won't be too bad! ( we plan on having cereal/coffee/juice every day in our rooms before leaving so not too worried about if the food court is busy for breakfast anyway...)
thanx for this info, at least we won't be totally surprised when we get there if there are big groups of cheerleaders all over...

I'm going to be there from Nov. 29th - Dec. 8th...and heard about the Pop Warner and the parade after booking. No matter what there has to be less crowds then the summer...and NO HEAT....and it's Christmas!!! At least this is how I'm thinking lol...hope it works!

Pop Warner is a football league that is in many towns across america. The Superbowl week that is held in Disney is for football players that have won their division and also for cheeleaders that have placed in their regional competition. Superbowl in Disney is a National Competition.
