OK. So I finally received a PIN code for 20% off :cool1: but here's the catch. The only time I can get out of work is during Pop Warner week, Tuesday 12/9 to Sat 12/13. If POP isn't available, how bad will All Star Music be? The renovated rooms look nice. The kids (they'll be 9 & 5) have never stayed onsite before and I've never stayed at a value before. I'm nervous. Any suggestions?

We stayed at the CBR 2 years in a row while P/W kids were there and it wasnt bad at all. They do mob the food court first thing in the morning and dont always clean up well after themselves but other than that it was no big deal

1) Pop Warner is the worst week at All Stars and POFQ (overflow Moderate).
2) There is noise into the wee hours.
3) Also, it is the worst week for vandalism.

NOTE: For two years running, they had to close the POFQ pool due to noise and vandalism. Last year, there was over $10,000 in damage at ASSp. Disney puts up with this because all Pop Warner contestants must contractually stay on-site or they cannot participate in the tournament. This means lot so bucks in rooms, tickets and food for WDW.

hope that you get Pop!

CBR is the first moderate - then the excess goes to PO - either R or FQ

I stayed at the Pop Century in the 50's by the jukebox. Pop Warner kids were everywhere. How did I know? Girls with hair in curlers lots of screaming and yelling not just the I'm having fun type. But the cheering loudly. :cheer2:
Security came many times zipping by on Segways. One night it was so bad the police were called to come.
pirate:

It will be a tough choice of where to stay. Tell central reservations that you don't want to be close to any pop warner groups. :cool1:

the big different the all star won't even try to stop them.

at Pop they are expected to follow the rules.

you know it is funny - but evern PW now says that they have a problem at Disney.

so what are these dates? and how will it effect deluxes and park attendance? any 1st hand info?

Just curious, was your experience this past December or was it from a previous year? Thanks!

:scared1: Now, I'm really scared. Thanks everyone for the information. Especially about POP, I thought I had read that groups don't overflow there but obviously, I was wrong.

Spiceycat, just to clarify, once the AS are filled, then they go to CBR and POR? I'm trying to see how far I can stretch the budget before the holidays to see if I can upgrade to a moderate. The code is only good 12/7-13. Maybe we'll have to pass it up. :guilty:

I stayed at POP during Pop Warner time specifically because I was told that Pop Warner would not be there. That was completely untrue. The only resorts that don't have the Pop Warner groups are CSR and the Deluxes. In the past, they have overflowed at CBR, POR, and POFQ.

I went to tripadvisor.com and read reviews for POP during Pop Warner week 2007, and there wasn't any mention in any review of loud groups of kids, cheerleaders, or a horribly crowded food court.

I'm going to read reviews at allearsnet.com now and see what they say.:thumbsup2

I've been to WDW for MouseFest the last 5 years running, and MouseFest overlaps PW by several days.

In the parks, you will raely see the PW kids, because they spend their days practicing and playing.

In the resorts, you will encounter them mostly at the All-Stars (Sports and Music, mostly), and at Pop Century. There have been times when the PW kids have gotten unruly, most notably last year when 3 of the teams got into a knock-down, drag-out brawl at All-Star Music and were all subsequently kicked off Disney property in teh middle of the night.

The places where I have noticed them most over the years have been at the pools at Pop (far after curfew, I might add), and on the resort busses (where the cheerleaders like to shout Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer at the tops of their lungs).

I stayed at Movies last year and didn't see any kids that seemed to be with PW. They start with Sports, then send them to Music, then send some to Pop. I've heard that the overflow can sometimes go to POR, but I have not heard of them getting shunted to CBR. And I don't think any of them stay at CSR, so if you upgrade to a Moderate, you should keep CSR in mind.

If you want to stay in a Value, try Movies. Just stay away from the Music food court!

Okay, so I just read all the allearsnet.com reviews for POP during early and mid December 2007.

No mention of Pop Warner kids in any reviews. No mention of any cheerleaders or large groups of kids in any reviews.

No mention of crowded pools, and very few mentions of noisy neighbors or loud toilets (but there were a few).;)

Many reviews told of a crowded food court between 8:00am-10:am, so if you want to avoid the crowds and lines, don't plan on breakfast there unless you're a very early riser. Also, some mentioned the food court can get busy after 9:00pm (when folks return from the parks).

A few reviews mentioned long lines for busses (especially after fireworks at MK and Epcot), and standing room only on busses at certain times.

So, there you have it. Not sure if that helped, but hey, I had the time.:goodvibes

the resort choices are Sports and CBR (for the people who don't like value)- then the overflow is surpose to be

sports - music - movie - pop

CBR - POR - POFQ

since sports, music and movie are all close to each other - then the bus that stops at Sports (non-Disney) can still take all the players to the game.

Pop is not on this system. really surprised that any overflow goes to Pop because the manager has say before no groups.

that say - if someone wants to pay to stay at Sports but also makes a reservation at Pop - (since the kids can walk to WWoS - less parent involvement) and pays rack rate - don't think there is anything that Disney can do.

guess I need to go and ask the kids who are at Pop how they got this resort with PW.

if they did get thru overflow and not what I stated - then hey it is time to speak to the manager.

Pop gets enough of us to not need the silly groups.

this is a necessary for the All stars resort - it is not for Pop.

Last year we stayed at CBR and there were no PW kids there, they were at POFQ and POR. We chose CBR again specifically for this reason.

I would never stay at an All-Star during POP Warner. I stayed at All-Star Music in May once, and there were a few school groups having "end of the year" field trips staying there. Most kids we met were quite polite, but the problem was that every night, the groups completely took over the pools and got rowdy and LOUD. I saw security there a couple of nights clearing things out. I never swam once in the quiet pool since it was always filled with the groups. I keep thinking - if this is just from a few groups (where you can't use the amenities like the pool), how bad must it be when there are hundreds of them! :faint:

I personally wouldn't chance endangering a vacation by staying where the large groups are ... there have been too many horror stories. And when you have many teens with little supervision .... well, I would not chance my vacation!

How bad will Pop Warner be at the parks or at the Deluxe resorts?

They don't stay at the deluxe resorts. I've stayed at Boardwalk last December during PW week and it wasn't a big deal at the parks. You might run into small groups but it isn't a big difference.
