tell me your experiences . . . the good, the bad and the ugly

I stayed at CSR for the 2007 Pop Warner week, and I did not see any of them at the resort at all. CSR is very big and spread out though, they may have been there but I didn't see any of them. I ran into a gaggle of cheerleaders at EPCOT one evening who had no respect for my wishes NOT to hear them cheering while in line for Test Track. I was a few families behind them, so I had no way of politely asking them to stop, and I am not the type who will be yelling at preteens from across the room to shut up. LOL As much as I would have liked to, I just smiled held it all in until this rant. :hippie:

We were at POR the entire week...with ALL the cheerleaders.

It was fine. Buses were a little crowded on the way back from closing parks, but other than that no issues whatsoever.

We did see some random Pop Warner kids/families in the parks...again no issues.

Interestingly.. we didn't hear a cheer all week!

I wouldn't hesitate to stay at POR during Pop Warner again! :thumbsup2

We were there last year for the last 4 days of PW. Main problem is the food court gets trashed by these kids, pulling rows of tables together and the noise in there !!!!!. The buses can be crowded and noisy if you run into a squad of them going / coming to the parks. Some of the parents are a bit OTT as well, Overheard one mother saying if you dont want to hear cheers dont come this week. We love POR (as you can see from the siggy ) but it has got worse over the years since they first started coming. One of the reasons we decided to buy DVC last year.

We stayed at POP 12/6 - 12/13 during PW week and had no problems at all. We didn't have any PW families at our hotel and although we saw them in the parks cheering (kind of annoying after 6 days) they didn't cause any problems that I know of. I did hear about an incident at one of the All Star Resorts where several teams were asked to leave due to fighting. I would stay away from POR and AS if you want to avoid the PW crowd.
Keep an eye on the Pop Warner website for their travel packet. It will tell you where most of them are staying and the dates they will be there.

We stayed at POR - Alligator Bayou section one year during PW and didn't have any issues/problems with the PW crowd. During the day the parks didn't seem to be impacted at all especially during the first half of the week. There were groups of cheerleaders staying in the Magnolia Bend section of POR but we only saw/heard them on our way to get our mugs refilled. We drive our car so I can't comment on how they impacted the buses. Overall the PW groups didn't affect our trip one way or another.

I think it all depends on where you stay as to how much interaction you have with them. We were there in 2007 and stayed at AKL - so we didn't notice them at all at the resort. We saw a few groups in the parks, but they weren't disruptive at all.
