I know nothing about Pop Warner and the play offs . A co-worker of mine has a boy who is coming up on the finals and may get to go to WDW on the 7th. They have never been and can't really afford the trip. It is $700 per person. She knows this is for the flight and hotel but figures that doesn't include anything else. I read something about them putting Pop Warner into All Star or CBR. Do the kids get tickets to the WDW parks or other parks or attractions? Do they get any food vouchers? My co-worker assumes that the adults will have to pay for all their food and theme park tickets which, if so, means they will not go to the parks because of the cost. Can anyone tell me what they should get for the $700 or does it vary from team to team? I can help them find some free things to do like resort hopping and such. I assume they will be watching many games (I hope) but also assume they will have time to visit some things. If I could I would buy their park tickets for them but that is not in the cards. Any ideas for free things to do in the area? Any advise or info would be appreciated.

Hi Daannzzz,

Before we started buying APs, we would always go to WDW for 3 or 4 days and only do one park (MK - since the kids were just babies). We always found fun stuff to do outside of the parks and going into a park isn't a necessity to have fun at WDW.

We always enjoyed spending an afternoon at the Marketplace and Downtown Disney just window shopping and having lunch or dinner. Another favorite thing of ours was to get on the monorail (park at TTC or one of the hotels) and visit each of the monorail resorts for an afternoon. We would take in all of the gift shops and check out the entire resort for a future trip. We loved to visit the GF in the early evening and listen to the piano player. We would just relax and soak up the atmosphere.

A trip to visit the Animal Kingdom Lodge is always fun. You can walk out and see the animals and talk to the CMs. It's alot of fun, and free!

The pool at the resort was always a big draw for us, too. We spent alot of time swimming and playing at the resort we stayed at.

I've read about a Boat & Bike plan that some resorts offer. It covers the length of the stay and allows for time in the boats, bikes, etc. Not sure how much that costs, but could be a reasonably priced activity for adults & children w/o going to a park.

The Boardwalk is another place to have fun. They have shops, restaurants, and during the evenings & weekends (during busy season) they have street performers, etc. It can be alot of fun.

There's so much to do at WDW w/o ever stepping foot into a park. I think they will have a blast. Best of luck to their player!

Thanks for the ideas. I hope I am not getting them to excited about the trip. There is always the ce they won't make it through the local playoffs and then when they get there I don't know if they have much time or not to go do anything. I will definately send them to DD and AKL.

We are also one of those teams going thru our playoffs and hoping to win so that we can go to Orlando. There are many families on our teams that will have a difficult time paying for a trip to WDW--right before Christmas. Living in Silicon Valley, many parents have lost their jobs. We plan on doing a lot of fund raising (car washes, bake sales, etc.) to help those families. The idea is for others to help those who can't afford it so that no kid will be left out.

The package that is offered to Pop Warner families (kids and parents, etc.) does include Park Hoppers (either 4 or 5 day hoppers) and it is for stays at AllStars resorts and CBR. There are 4 and 5 night packages. We were told that the participant must purchase one of these packages -- other family members can stay off-site if they wish and buy their own passes, etc. I believe the team (kids and coaches, and chaporones must travel together and stay together at the resort). Tell your friend that there is some info about the Super Bowl on www.popwarner.com

Hope this helped!

Thanks so much for the info. They are buying the package which is $700 per person and will be excited to know that it includes Park Hoppers. They did do some fund raising. I bought a raffle ticket from her as well as some frozen cookie dough, which I am waiting to scoop into ( I don't bother baking them). I am hoping they make it to the finals and wish you all the luck too.
