Pop Warner Kids?

My husband and I were planning our WDW trip this year for the week after Thanksgiving, but have since heard rumors that is when Pop Warner something or other is going on. Could someone tell me what this is, and truly, how bad is it? TTA!

I believe you are refering to the pop warner football and cheerleading competitions. I have been at WDW when these kids are there and haven't really noticed them. From what I hear they usually stay at one of the All Star hotels (I am assuming it is Sports). During the day I believe they are mostly at their competitions. It really,in my opinion won't effect you.

If you're going the week after Thanksgiving, you'll be fine. PW's dates are Dec. 3-9 2006.

You won't notice them in the parks...but you don't want to stay at an AStar resort when a big group like that is in town.

We were at ASMo during Grad nights. No problem touring the parks...but at ASMo...it was a DISASTER from Thurs-Sun. (We were there for a 10 day trip and fortunately planned to be switching hotels on Sat to WLodge)

Coming back to the hotel to swim on Thurs & Fri was a nightmare. They took away the life guards as they were totally ineffective in reigning in the kids. Teens were jumping into the pool fully clothed and coming out w/ much less on! Families were leaving the pool area in droves as more as busloads arrived.

I will say, it was quiet in the evenings (and early morning hours) I was worried they would go to their party and make lots of noise coming back home. Never heard them. We had a good night's sleep...and were waiting for the bus at 8am to go to a park.

Only thing that was bad was the pool area...oh, and the foodcourt lines for dinner those nights. YIKES! I imagine it would be much the same for the pop warner groups.

Thanks everyone! I was confused what the date for Thanksgiving was this year-so we will actually miss them by a week!
