Pop Warner, how crazy will it be?

I just booked my free dinning trip from Nov.28 - Dec.7 at all star sports(the only value I could get.) I just read somewhere that POP Warner will be from Dec.3. Will my resort be really crazy? What about the parks? Should I consider cancelling? I've never been at this time of year so I have nothing to compare it to.

We've done the Pop Warner week in 2009 and 2011 (both times staying at All Star Music), and are doing it again this year (at Pop, because there were no rooms left at ASMu). The biggest impact will be at your resort's food court, for example in the morning, or when they come back from competitions. Otherwise, the impact on park crowd is minimal from my experience.

My family was at WDW during Pop Warner last year, and outside of seeing a group here or there in the parks, I really did not take much notice at all. That being said, we stayed at Pop, so I am not sure what type of resort impact it will have.

Sports will be the "busiest" PW Resort.

As posted earlier End Zone Food Court will be slammed.

There will also be substantial numbers at the Pools and on the Football Field.

I have gone many times during PW time and have never really seen an impact in the parks. I have read that the resort impact can be noticeable.

I agree that it's not noticeable at the parks.

We stayed at All Star Music a few years back and there were Pop Warner cheerleaders there. Their presence was obvious. We saw them walking around the resort. The cheerleaders we encountered at the resort were polite and very sweet.

Their numbers impacted the food court. We used our own car, so I don't know if they impacted park buses.

The parks, no. Your resort might if you are on a bus with a group or if you are in the food court the same time as a lot of the groups.

Your probably going to be impacted at the resort..........and with buses I'm pretty sure AllStar Sports is one of the main resorts during Pop Warner week. Google "Pop Warner" and you can grab info there. We stayed at AoA during that week in 2015 and to be honest never felt any impact until our last day (a Sunday), and only in the parks, when the number of teams involved is smaller. We actually saw more cheerleaders than football players.........that we could tell :P

Actually felt there were more foreign visitors then young kids.

This is almost exactly what I was going to write. We stayed at POP from 11/30 through 12/9 last year. Didn't notice any impact on parks, food courts were busier than we expected, resort wasn't a problem at all.

Another who's been during PW week twice and had I not known from reading here they were there I wouldn't have noticed them. They are kids with their families for the most part. They behave as if all other kids with families do.

Worth noting there will be one night where HS closes early for their "after party" so that's something to keep an eye on.

Otherwise I do not believe they pose any significant impact

I would like to make a suggestion - request a room that is NOT facing a pool. (Ask for a quiet room.) The pool areas get very noisy when groups are there.

Stayed at Sports this December during POP Warner week. No visible presence of teams/cheerleaders in the parks, but considerable congestion at the food court and common areas in the morning and at night, and on walkways and fields in between the buildings. Saw CMs trying to keep them from playing football where they were setting up the screen for nighttime movies. But certainly not enough to make me book a different resort or anything.

Thanks Guys. I ended up changing our resort too Coronado Springs. Super excited as I've never stayed at a Mod before ❤️

Do you have your own car?

I'm normally a HUGE fan of the busses, but the problem with Coronado and sports teams/band groups/tours, etc is that they all take the bus. At once. And Coronado has several bus stops in a ring around the resort, so if they all pile on before the bus gets to your stop, then you're likely to see the bus whiz by without stopping at all. And it may easily be another 20 minutes before you see another bus, which might also go by full.

Coronado is beautiful and has a terrific pool, but it's a convention resort, which means it's always hosting one group or another. I'd say ninety percent of the time we had no problems with the busses, but that last 10 percent was brutal.

We enjoyed our stay at Coronado Springs, but for our last trip we went back to Pop. Just one bus stop! And they seem to be better at ordering up more busses when they need them (maybe because whomever's in charge of that sort of thing can easily see where they're needed).

If I stayed there again, I'd recommend looking up the bus routes and requesting a room close to the beginning of the loop (I don't remember exactly which number that was... I do remember it didn't start at 1!).

The parks will not have much of an impact with Pop Warner, but the resort IMO will be absolutely crazy mad. Noisy, crowded buses, packed food courts and etc. I am glad to see you changed your plans and will be staying at CSR instead. I have no doubt you will enjoy your stay there. :thumbsup2

The biggest impact is the resort. The food court and depending on where you are located your sleeping might be overcrowded with the groups. They tend to cheer in the courtyards very late and the very early hours of the morning. A quick call to the front desk will take care of that, though. When they go to the parks the buses can be nuts, too. Most of them start going to the parks after they are cut from the competition, however.

Good, I was going to chime in that it will be crazy at ASSP, but glad you switched. The cheer girls we've encountered have always been friendly, and like others said, the values will be crazy with them. Any group can kind of take over the values. The last time we stayed in a value there was a very large marching band and although they weren't rude, they were loud. We haven't gone back since. I know they do stay in moderates too, but not usually as often as values. As we were checking out of POR one year there was a cheer group checking in. Just be prepared.....once you stay moderate, you will be hooked and not want to go back:rotfl:
