Pop vs Coronado to upgrade?

I'm considering changing from POP to CSR (edited to add: or POR also). We are booked at the end of March...me, DH & 5yo DS at POP. Of course I'm reading great reviews & bad ones .

Is it worth the small dollar amount to upgrade. Would you?? Why would I want to?

We haven't stayed at either so it's hard for me to make a decision & atthis point I don't know one from the other. I'm driving DH crazy so can someone help me decide ?!

Edited to add: I think my biggest issue is that POP looks so bright & child friendly & CSR & POR looks more for grown ups.

I have stayed at all three -- POP, POR and CSR. There used to be almost no difference, in my opinion, between the value rooms and the moderate rooms. That has changed now that moderates (at least CSR, don't know about POR) have queen beds as well as refrigerators.

For a 5-year-old, I think POP would be great. The large icons are fun and the pools are nice. There is no slide.

Unless you want/need queen size beds and a fridge, and the 5-year-old wants a slide, I would go with POP.

My kids (11 and 6) loved CSR. I really liked the peaceful soothing layout of CSR. We spent hours in the park and it was nice to come back to a restful resort without being peppered with more bright colors & theming. The pool area is great and both kids ('specially my youngest) loved the slide. And the queen beds... heavenly! Plus we were doing FD and would have upgraded to the DDP if we stayed at POP. By the time we added in the queen beds, upgrade on the DDP and the cost of the fridge - it was only a couple hundred more to stay at CSR. So glad we did! (And the dedicated buses were nice!)

Many people told us it would be a lot of walking from Cabanas 8A to the Pepper Market, but we never felt it was. It was always a lovely scenic walk from our room to the Pepper Market in the mornings. Over a year later, our kids still remember Chef Matt at the Pepper Market, who won our kids over very quickly.

The only reason we probably won't be back next time is we want to try something new. Particularly the Pirate Rooms at CBR while our son is still young! Luckily for us, we don't mind walking and the theming is still not overly Disney. :) I'll miss the Pepper Market though.

Even though I booked CBR, we might end up at POR or POP. If my BIL's family comes with us - we'll be switching to POP as that's where they will be staying. If they don't come with us, but we let our DD (turning 13) bring a friend - then we'll switch to POR.

I'm very much looking forward to enjoying a new resort as they all seem to be great & unique. I'll just be happy when we finally have a game plan in place. It's kind of hard to plan a trip when you don't actually know *which* resort you'll stay at, or if your dates will change! Not to mention keeping up-to-date on 3 different resort threads.

Ok. I am switching to CSR. Primarily for the queen beds & private bathroom area. Can anyone recommend a room location close to buses & quick serve dining area? Thanks!

Without paying for a preferred room, I would request either Cabanas 8A or 9A. Personally, our favorite is Casitas 4 or 5 -- both close to Bus Stop 2 (the first stop picked up and dropped off); this is about a five minute walk to the main building (where registration, food, etc., is located). Cabanas 8A is about a couple of minute walk over the bridge to the main building. There are bus stops in all three sections -- Casitas, Ranchos, Cabanas and then at the main building.

Have you looked at CBR? It looks like they have a neat kid's pool. We have always stayed at POP with our 2 kids, we just don't spend a lot of time at the resort and can't see paying the extra. Though we are considering a mod for our next trip, just to have a different experience.

Csr is a great choice. I'm a deluxe person, but IMO CSR has one the best pools on property. Have a great trip.

Can you tell me more about the pool. I am having a hard time deciding between resorts, but CSR is on the top of my list.

There is a dedicated thread for CBR. They have a pirate themed pool area and also zero entry (there are two slides if I'm not mistaken).

CBR only has full size beds though, not queen.

Sure. It has a big a slide, jacuzzi, play area, arcade, refillable mug station, fooz ball or ping pong tables. I would check out the CSR thread or the photo threads. We have stayed at many deluxes and my Kids rank the pool in the top three after BW and BC.

If it is within your budget, a preferred room at CSR is worth it, IMO. Casitas 1, 2, or 3 are all very close to the lobby, food court, and bus stop #1. If you are willing to sacrifice a little walk and have no desire to be right next to the lobby and fod court, I would recommend one of the rooms by the pool (non preferred - Cabanas). The swimming area is amazing and blew our kids away. Basically, no matter which room you are in on the resort, you are close to a bus stop - there are several bus stops located at the resorts. By the way, CSR is an amazing resort (deluxe quality at a moderate price) and IMO, it is well worth the upgrade. Hope you have a great time.

CSR and POFQ are my two favorite resorts. I love the any of the Cabanas buildings at CSR--close to main pool, close to bus stop 4 or 1, and less than five minutes to the main building. Cabanas 8A or 9B are my favorites though.

I was actually asking about CSR, but I have also been considering CBR, and didn't know about the zero entry, of the full sized beds, thanks so much for responding with that information! I love zero entry pools, so much easier for the kids, but would also love a bigger bed, alot to think about!

Thanks! I have looked at the CSR thread, it is way to long to go through, but I have read the first couple of pages. Thanks again for the info on the pool!
