Have a dilemma that I need help with. We are booked right now for our first night down in Disney World at the AOA and the other 8 nights at Pop. We have a 4 and 6 year old and I'm starting to think that they would have an even more magical time at AOA. We are currently using the military discount at Pop but can not use it at the little Mermaid room. Would you pay the extra $300 (that was our savings from the discount) to stay at the little mermaid room or just stay at pop and walk over to AOA a few times to enjoy the scenery?

For $300. I'd probably give aoa a shot. But only because I've never stayed there before. And those little mermaid showers...oh my!!!

I would upgrade, but it depends how important that $300 is to you, only you can decide that.

Is $300 extra spent on the hotel $300 less spent somewhere else on the trip? I don't know if I would sacrifice something else on the trip just to switch to another value resort that is attached to yours. On the other hand, if $300 isn't going to impact the rest of your vacation, I would switch. Again, only you know what $300 is to your family.

I would pay the extra to stay at AOA. We stayed at Pop in November 2012, and my DH spent the whole trip wishing we were across the bridge at AOA.

Two things to consider. How much pool time do you have planned? The pools at AoA are nicer than at POP. Also how much does the $300 mean to you? You do not get much for the extra money except the nicer pools and grounds.

POP was the first Disney resort that I took DS to. He was four at the time. He loved the big statues and had his picture taken next to them all. He had a great time.

He is now 11 and I asked him what his favorite resort is he said AoA.

Things to consider for your trip:

AoA-
- Awesome pool that only guests can use. Far and above the other values. If you are going to have lots of pool time it could very well be worth it.
- You are looking at "rooms" so the Little Mermaid section. It is a considerable walk from there to main pool, food court and buses. At the end of a day if you don't have strollers could be tough with little ones. If you like a quick run to the food court for a refill etc....it's not quick.

PoP-
- Extra $300 to spend on other things
- You can still walk across the bridge and eat at their food court instead
- You can still walk across the bridge and enjoy the playground and grounds
- Main pool is cute and fine but no comparison to AoA
- Rooms are same exact at AoA in size etc but they are not as new inside

Here right now in the LK suite and we are loving it. We stayed for 3 nights at POR AB and we love the room of the suite. I have stayed at POP before and I really like the AOA. However; it is was me I would probably use the $300 dollars towards something else. My dh wouldn't agree, but that is why we stayed the first 3 nights at POR. It was cheaper than the suite. I have found that I can always use the extra money.

We've stayed at Pop and in a LM room at AofA. I would definitely stay at Pop and save your money. The walk back and forth from the LM rooms to the main buildings was too much for us. Plus I love the Hippy Dippy pool at Pop better then the Main pool at AofA.

I would stay at POP and save the money. The scenery at AoA is great and lots of fun to look at but the walk to LM gets old really fast. In fact DH asked never to stay there again.
