Pop vs AOA

Hi! We are currently booked for the second August in a row at Pop. We are a family of 4 and our children are small- 5 and 3. I wanted to try something different and was considering switching to AOA, but would have to do LM because I cannot justify the cost of the suites and my son is young enough that I don't think he will care that it is technically a princess room (he is the 5 year old and he may care when he sees the Cars area.....).

Here is what is scaring me- the LM rooms seem FAR from the Nemo pool which has the spray ground and food court close by, so that is where we will most likely want to be as opposed to the LM pool.

Is it as far as it seems on the map? Thoughts? We are staying standard at Pop, but in the 70's closest to the Hippy pool is where we stayed last time and requested this time- didn't seem like too bad of a walk.....

Help!

My advice would be to keep your reservation at Pop Century for a few reasons. First, there may be a room discount offered at the value resorts, but they exclude the Little Mermaid rooms at AoA. Second, the LM rooms are a bit of a walk from the main building and Nemo pool. You will have to pass through the Lion King area to get to LM and this walk takes slightly less than ten minutes. The walk isn't that bad in the morning, but after a full day in the parks feels long at night. Third, you are visiting during the hottest month of the year. The eco-thermostats at AoA are frustrating. They run on motion sensors. When you are asleep in the room, the thermostat shuts off. Your room will be warm when you return from the parks and also at night when you are trying to sleep. My LM room was always 1-2 degress warmer than I would have liked. The food court and atmosphere are better at AoA, but can be easily accessed by using the generation gap bridge.

I totally agree with all of this! :thumbsup2

I would also like to add, why not request the 60's instead of the 70's? That way you'll be nice and close to the hippy dippy pool (just make sure you're not facing the pool), it's a bit of a change rather then staying in the same decade again, and you'll be close to the AofA bridge where you can easily visit. :goodvibes

Oh I thought they were preferred rooms.

Only the rooms closest to the food court and front desk are preferred. The sections facing the lake in the 60's are standard. Check out the map at the beginning of the Pop thread.

I would stay where you are if distance is a concern. The seventies section is so close to everything.

If you did not mind the walk AoA has much nicer grounds than POP and the NEMO pool is amazing.
