Pop versus Allstars

With some of the reviews I have read about Pop one of the complaints seem to be the noise, especially being able to hear your neighbors bathroom habits, is this the same at Allstars? Is it possible that the newer construction on Pop wasn't up to par with Allstars? I so want to stay at a value resort but the noise issue makes me shy away from them. The bus system doesn't really bother me, waiting in lines is just something that we come to expect in Disney. So if anyone has any input of these resorts I sure would like to hear about it. Thank you

I think they're exactly the same, noise-wise. I so much prefer Pop to any of the All Stars, though. To me, it just seems so much nicer!

The noise problem is limited to Pop. The walls between the rooms are much thinner than those at All Stars. Personally, the noise doesn't bother me, but just wanted to answer your question.

The bus service at Pop will get on your nerves at the end of the night when you're leaving a park and there's a line that wraps around a chain about 8 times waiting to get on a bus. Either that or when you're standing on a bus at 11:00PM on the way back to the resort.

it depends upon the building.

I could hear the people shouting in the room next to me at As.

the toilets at Pop Century are loud - but you can close the door to help tone down the noise.

get a room in the 50's - do not get a room in the preferred 60's section.

this building is much to close to the main pool.

get a lake view in the 50's.

there are also complaints about all the value resorts - people letting the door slam - again and again. you can't do anything about other guests being a pain...

Just got back from a night at Pop (Sunday night) and I was there for 5 nights in August. I stayed at ASMusic in '03, Jazz bldg, third floor, towards the back. I have to say that all those stays were very quiet. I was in the 50's bldgs both stays. First time in bldg. 2, third floor, way at the back. Sunday night bldg 1 on the ground level towards the back. Never any noise from my neighbors either time. I think that if you stay away from the pool side rooms you will be fine, generally speaking.
I love Pop, and may be going back next Dec!!!

:earsboy: :earsgirl: We've stayed at the POP 4 times & it's nicer than the Allstars. If we were to choose, POP will be our vote!

I've stayed at the ASMu and only heard the neighbors when they were just getting settled in for their stay. I would suggest getting a sound machine, if everyone is agreeable. I use one in my apt. to drown out sounds. Works like a "dream" :cloud9: You can purchase at Walmart for about 15.00.

We stayed at POP this September after an unexpected friend decided to join our trip at the last minute we could no longer stay at the Swan where we had originally booked. Let me tell you I was expecting the worst. First I wasn't too jazzed about staying at a value resort, and second I was dealing with the disapointment of not staying at the Swan after making our plans months in advance.

I was plesantly surprised by POP. We stayed in the 50's bldg. on the top floor and I would highly recommend it. I had no noise problem, and really didn't hear the rooms next door at all.

I've never stayed at the Allstars to compare, but POP was not bad.

It sounds like the 50's buildings are popular. I am wondering if they are quieter just due to location or actual construction.

Thanks for all of the information!

I stayed at Movies buzz section on Spring break and POP 60's last June. I never heard noise other than the occasional turbo flush toilet in either. People complain about the POP busses but when we stayed at Movies we also had to stop and Sports and Music before we got to Movies so there wasn't much difference there. I think you need to decide on what theme you like the best and go for that. I don't think you could go wrong with either.

Just like anything, everyone's opinion differs. What I try to remember is you'll be at WDW. Everyone is amped up and excited. Noise is everpresent...

We prefer Movies over POP.

We stayed @ POP in the 50's building. Where we were was very quiet! During our entire trip we heard someone walking in front of our door maybe 5 times. Never heard any voices or bathroom noises (except for the occasional flush we heard twice). We were at the end of the hall which may have had something to do with it. It was a hoof at the end of the day, but would gladly exchange the hoof for the quiet. Good luck!

Just got back from POP and it wasnt noisey at all. We were there a week and only heard a toilet (other than ours :rotfl2: ) a few times.

I have stayed at all stars sports and pop..like pop MUCH better..never had a problem with noise or crowds at all

Thanks for all the info, as of now we are booked with POR but honestly I am not sure spending the extra for a moderate is the right thing to do. We have a king room booked so this was extra since I really wanted a king bed and there isn't a guarentee that we would get a king bed at a value resort. Another question though when booking a value and you booked a preferred location would that also include a king size bed? Or is this only an option at a moderate? Once again thanks for the help.

I say go with the theming that appeals to you. I prefer All Star Movies to All Star Sports or Pop because I love the theming so much. I found Pop to be very crowded in the food court and pool areas but not so much I wouldn't stay there again. Noise is a factor at all WDW resorts I think, and can depend on neighbors and how well tuned your hearing is! The buses at Pop were bad for us but only coming back to the resort from MK after Wishes on a weekend evening. And then it was as a previous poster stated, line extending so far back I thought I was seeing things and over a 45 minute wait. My biggest complaint with Pop was the parking. It was only on the weekends but it was a pain. I thought the rooms at Pop were nicer, the tv was larger, the dresser was nicer and had more space and the bathroom was as tiny as the All Stars' but had a nice little shelf above the sink. Really nice since 4 people in one bathroom is challenging to say the least! I think all the values are fun (haven't stayed at Music but will take care of that soon ;) ) and since they are about theming then that is what should be a big factor! You will see reviews all over the place for each WDW resort, go with what looks good for your and your family.

P.S. I believe you can request a King bed at the values but that is a separate issue/request from preferred location. At the values preferred location refers to being close to the pool and food court, the rooms are the same inside as anywhere else in the resort. I am sure they have king beds in both preferred and non preferred locations.

I hate to say it by when we were at POR last week we had requested a King room and didnt get one.

Do you pay extra for it? I ended up paying extra for a king room so I am assuming that we will get one since we paid extra for it. If anyone knows any different I would like to hear about it. I certainly don't want to spend the extra money and not get what we paid for.
