Pop-ups on the DIS?

Has anyone else been bothered by annoying pop-up ads that suddenly appear when you're on the DIS, complete pages that appear? In about 10 minutes this morning, it's happened 3 times where I suddenly was on a page with an ad that included a picture of Ellen DeGeneris. It's ironic that this is happening-I'm on an Apple laptop, I used to have a PC but I kept getting viruses so DH encouraged me to get a Mac. He always "blamed" the DIS for the computer viruses and insisted I wouldn't get them with a Mac. Hope not! Anyone else getting these pop-ups, or unrequested page transfers?

Yes on my MacBook and iPad. Ellen, dr. Oz, etc. it drove me batty!

No, but, I have pop ups blocked and AdBlocker.

But still, I would suggest you check your computer for a virus, malware, or adware using a virus scan or malware scan or some other related utility.

Yes - this morning while I was on the dis a full page ad for some kind of weight loss - didn't really look at it too closely - just closed out of it right away. Normally I don't see anything like this.

Yes, I got it too. The ad hijacks your whole page and then when you close it out, the page is gone. Same type of ads too.

Same here on my desktop. My iPad seems fine though!! And I checked to be sure my pop up blocker was on. Weird.

No, but I use a pop up blocker and an ad blocker.

This type of stuff seems to be happening frequently here in the last few months. They better get it taken care of.

You can go into your web browser setup, 'manage add on' screen, 'tools and extensions' screen. There is usually some adware that is installed and you can disable them from there

Is an ad blocker something you purchase and install or is it somewhere in settings and I can't find it?

You don't need to purchase one. I use Firefox and they have different add-ons to choose from for ad blockers.

You could probably google "ad blocker *whatever browser you use*" and see what you get.

Hmmm...I haven't had ANY pop-ups. Only the banner ads. I am on Chromebook and do not have my pop ups disabled.

I agree this is an issue.

Has any one sent it to the Dis Tech folks?

I also use Ad Block Plus for Chrome (add it as an extension) and I see NO ads on Dis.

Yep often. It will also shut down IE.

Appears to be infected. Not sure why they haven't cleaned up their site. It's annoying but so far not dangerous.

Yes, I got a virus from here the other day.

I am also very tired of the ads for Russian and Filipino hot chicks or disgusting medical ads on this site.

Yep, been having this problem all day today. Glad I am not alone, but very annoying, wish it would stop.
I have been having a similar problem with the app for a few weeks, opening up my app store in the middle of a post.

Thanks. I just added the ad blocker for google chrome and we'll see how it goes. I'm not seeing ANY ads right now on the DIS!
