I am having the crazyest thought this morning! I am thinking of buying a pop up camper to use sort of like DVC.

We used to camp and loved it but a couple years ago we sold our 27 trailer and bought our dream condo on the lake. It was a very good decision and we love our condo!

But, We try to take the kids on a "big" trip each year and since we have sold the camper have been on 3 cruises. Really fun but next year I wanted to take them to Colorado.

OK here is the crazy part, I can't imagine being in CO and not camping. The Hampton Inn just doesn't feel right ya know? So then I think "well (thinking always get me into trouble) we could get a small pop up for not a lot of money and then we could use it at Disney too." Still thinking ..... that could mean MORE Disney trips. What do you think of my plan?

DH is gonna think it's time for school to start and me to go back to work!:lmao:

Actually this is why we got our popup earlier this year - a 07 Fleetwood Westlake - has A/C and shower/toilet. I will say it wasn't my idea  but I was sold when I realized I could spend 2 weeks at disney instead of 1  . Plus we've gone to Williamsburg and Knoebels this year. We have 2 more weekend trips planned before we winterize. It's alot of work getting ready to go and setting up the campsite, but in the end it's worth it because we can do so much more than we normally would have, plus I know I'm sleeping in a clean bed. Our kids love camping now.

We also have a Westlake popup. Ours is older (98) and we love it! It took a lot of convincing on my part to get DH to buy one. Neither one of us had ever owned/towed an RV of any kind. We've never been happier!:cool1: I can put it up and take it down by myself now. Maybe in 10 minutes. Ours has the bathroom/shower combo and could easily sleep 6 to 8 people! It has such a spacious feel to it. I feel like I'm still really camping... I can still here the birds singing and smell the campfire, but I've got a kitchen, bathroom, and beds off the ground.:yay: You can even have heat and a/c if you want. We are really enjoying it. Check your local paper or Cragslist.com for prices or go to some RV shows. For the price and ease of towing (some with small suv's or minivans) they can't be beat!:woohoo: Also if you want even more info. about them, try some of the RV forums like arvee.com, popthetop.com, popupportal.com or popupexplorer.com Good luck on convincing your DH.:)

I did exactly that a few years ago. I wanted to take a Disney Trip so BAD!!! And I also loved camping. I made reservations for a cabin at the fort and when i realized how much it would cost our family to fly in and rent the cabin, we could buy a pop up and drive down for less. So that is what we did and that way we could make more than one trip. We traded that pop up in for a hybrid and i think it is about time to make another trip to the fort.

Thanks everyone!

It would be NO problem convincing DH. He still drives our tow vehicle (3/4 ton sub) everyday. He can't part with it in hopes I will decide to tow something again! Our only problem will be staying with a small unit. ;) We loved our trailer ( have owned 3 campers in our married life) . I am not too happy pulling something big. That is why I thought maybe a pop up since they are little! He has already suggested a hybrid. I have been looking at a few used ones on-line. I think we might have to go to the camper show this year. Yup this is gonna be trouble!;) :cool1:

How much is a full hook-up at Ft. W in the summer?
