We currently have a 3 night reservation at Pop in May with AP rate. Looking online I see the opportunity to move to CSR for about $100 more.
We have stayed at Pop a few times, never at CSR. Our concerns are the effects of construction mainly, and the fact that we have absolutely no knowledge of the resort.
For a short stay, is it worth the switch? Or would it be better to stick with Pop since we know how to get around? We are afraid we may waste a lot of time just figuring out CSR. TIA!

Yes! CSR is just a big circle and you can see the main area from the major walkways. I think Pop is more confusing. It is a beautiful resort, much better pools and atmosphere than Pop.

I have stayed at both and would switch in a heartbeat! CSR is a gorgeous resort! The pool is awesome! CSR is very easy to get around and 'figure out'. Look at a few maps online before you go to get a basic idea of the layout.
I'm not sure about the status of the construction in May, however. I thought that it was mainly completed as the tower is opening in July, I believe.

It's a lot of fun trying new resorts! For only $100 more, I would switch!!!!

I did a split stay with 5 nights at Pop then 2 at CSR. CSR felt more upscale and "adult". We had a CSR before renovation and it was definitely ready for it! But here are a couple things to consider:

-The bus stop at the parks for Pop are way, far away while CSR are usually right up front. We always comment that they sure know how to make you feel like you are in a value resort.
-The bus ride itself was always packed for us at pop (this was during spring break), and we never had more than a few other people on our CSR bus.
-The food court is way better at Pop, but CSR has more restaurant options for food.
-The grounds at Pop are very kid-oriented. CSR is more like a "retreat".
-The room refurbishments are actually very similar to each other, but CSR will give you a bigger room: 260 sf vs 314 sf.
-The pool area is pretty sweet at CSR.

I'm sure there's more, but that's a start. I vote CSR. :)

Normally, I'd say CSR for sure BUT with the construction I'd has to think twice if it was me ( and it seems you are too ).

It depends on how much time you are planning on being at the resort. If you are just using the room to sleep, then this is a perfect opportunity to try something new for a low cost.

If you plan on using the pool or wanting to walk the resort then you aren't going to be seeing it at it's best and as of today, there is still a significant noise factor. By May that may reduce.

I think our biggest issue is worrying about the effects of the construction. I was looking on YouTube and I do like the look of CSR. And it would be nice to see something new. Years back I remember reading that it was mainly a convention hotel and not necessarily family friendly. Does anyone find this to be true?

When in May are you going. 2 big competitions (cheer/dance) are happening the first 2 weeks of May and CSR/CBR are both convention hotels. Might make pools/restaurants a bit more crowded. FYI.

May 13th - 16th. I didn’t think to look at what might be going on. Cheer may be done by time we get there? Wondering if more of these groups may be over at Pop since it’s less expensive? Maybe more of a reason to move to CSR.

Yes, most youth groups will go to Pop and All-star resorts.

Having stayed at both, I wouldn’t switch. But if I’d never stayed at CSR, for $100, I would. It’s a lovely resort, it just wasn’t our cup of tea.

Thanks everyone. I just updated our reservation to CSR so there is no going back. Now, does anyone have suggestions for what area to request? We have a standard view.

The property looks beautiful, I’m so tempted to add a couple more days!

Curious as to what you didn’t like? It’s just me and DH, no kids as they are grown, so I’m hoping it’s a good fit for us. We pretty much go with the flow, so I’m pretty sure we’ll have a good time no matter what we find. I’m actually more excited now to be trying something new!

We stayed at both back in August (2 nights Pop, 3 nights CSR). Even with the construction, CSR was way nicer. The newly refurbed rooms at CSR are fantastic and the pool area is beautiful! No issues with buses. For a standard room, I would request Casitas 4 or 5 - close to a bus stop, not too far from El Centro, very close to the Casitas quiet pool.

We just didn’t like it there. We had a bad check-in experience, and that tainted the whole stay for me. The resort is even bigger than I thought, and we just didn’t like the overall theming. I personally wasn’t a fan of the food court either. But I have to say, we are Port Orleans lovers, so I don’t think we’ll be happier anywhere else.
I do think as a couples vacation, it could be nice. I’d just recommend getting a room close to the main building!

I second requesting casitas 4 or 5. Excellent location for standard rooms - especially casitas 4.

CSR is my favorite resort on property! I am usually a huge supporter of Pop (it's where I've stayed the most just due to budgetary reasons) but my husband and I stayed at CSR for our honeymoon and I'd jump at the opportunity to stay there again for just that little of an upcharge.

I love both resorts (and I never thought I would ever even try CSR, much less love it). For $100 difference, you made a great choice!

I agree about Casitas 4. It’s close(ish) to main building, right by the first bus pick up, the gym, laundry, quiet pool. Casitas is “far” from the feature pool (and will feel that way until the lagoon restaurant and its bridges open).

Construction didn’t bother us last week. We heard very minimal (and it was mostly from the restaurant work). We never heard it in the room (Casitas 3).
