For older folks, which is the best way to travel? How much time to allow. I was thinking the drive to TTC then monorail to GF.
Or, just drive to GF, how hard to park? I don't want to Valet for $.
TIA

I think driving will be faster and easier to get to GF from Pop (20-30 mins). Just follow the signs to the MK main gate. Stay to the far right lanes of the parking booths and show the attendent your POP resort parking pass. Continue bearing right and follow the signs for MK resorts. Left at the traffic light, continue past the Poly, then right at the intersection. GF entrance will be on the right hand side. Tell security you're dining at 1900 PF and he will direct you to self parking. You may want to drop off you guests at curbside as self parking is on the other side of the road.

I personally would avoid parking at TTC because you have to take the tram from the parking lot, walk from tram station to monorail station, up ramp, then wait/ride monorail. That would add another 15-20 mins.

If you want to use WDW transportation, you can bus from POP to either MK or DTD, then transfer to Resort Monorail or GF bus respectively. Travel time for either would be approx 45-60 mins.

Thanks for asking and answering this question! Ive been wondering the same thing. I don't want to hijack the thread, but I have one more related question. If you wanted to go to Mk after 1900 PF, whats the best thing to do with your car? Leave it at GF? Or is there a better alternative?
TIA

Self parking at any WDW resort is specifically for 4 hours unless you are staying at that resort. However, I don't believe there are any time restrictions when using valet parking.

If you are staying at a WDW resort, I would park at TTC and take the monorail to GF, then go to MK from there.

If you are not staying at a WDW resort, you could just valet at the resort and pay about the same as parking at TTC

Self-parking at the GF is somewhat awful from what I've heard. It's a hefty walk from the parking lots to the main bldg. I think I would just park at the TTC and take the monorail over. That way, you can head to the MK after eating and then either monorail or boat back to the TTC after the MK.

You really aren't supposed to leave your car at a resort if you aren't actually at that resort..or paying to stay there. If you are an offsite guest and would have to pay to park at the TTC anyway? Pay to valet park at the resort. Onsite guest? Just park at the TTC and use the monorail if you don't want to pay for valet.

Better alternative, drive to Magic Kingdom (Transportation & Ticket Center) after breakfast at Grand Floridian.

Lacyinwonderland,
Thanks for asking the next question I had!
Goofy4tink,
I think the best for us is to consider the parking after i drop them curbside if i drive to both places or adjust the thought to pay valet to let the car there. I am concerned about the self parking.

The biggest problem is not having an elevator at the TTC. It's a challenging walk for the older folks even if I dropping them as close as i can. It's not workable to have a train of ECV running along, lol that can be as challenging as toddlers.

Staying at a monorail resort hotel is not option financially.

Does anyone in your party have a disability parking permit? If so, I think WDW will waive the valet fee. You may want to post in the disABILITIES forum or call GF directly to verify.

There is one wheelchair person with a parking placard used at their home state. I will check into that as I never heard the option, thank you.
