Hi, so, having planned late we are in a fairly bad way with NYE, we are going to MK on the 30th and then Epcot on 31. We currently don’t have anything b it will just grab a cheap offsite tomorrow with cancellation available for most of our time, but we do have dual reservations, 31-2 at Swan and 31-2 at Pop (much cheaper). Pop would be fine if the gondola isn’t too long, but i was wondering if you guys have much experience with this. Hard to say I guess since we would really only have gondola lines from 2019 to go by? I mean if it’s sometimes 30 minute line at peak, that’s fine, if it’s like constant 45+ then that would be a problem. Also, any other advice regarding NYE hotels I might should know or other hotel tips?

considered just doing offsite the whole time tosave Money but I am imagining traffic is going to be horrifying. Just speculation though since it’s my first time.

I wouldn’t stay off site on your dates. Traffic will probably be bad.
I‘d stick with Pop if you want to save some money.

I don’t know what the Gondola situation will be like NYE, but you can always take an AofA bus back and walk to Pop. It’s a good back up plan.

Staying off property means travel by car to property. Driving to/from the parks on NYE is a definite nightmare. We too will be on the Skyliner both nights and expecting long waits. We do NYE at Disney annually and will either leave before midnight (been there, done that) or if we somehow find the energy to stay will not exit the park until lines have gotten manageable. Makes more sense to stay in the park for an extra 90 minutes than stand in the line at the IG Skyliner for 90 minutes…

Traffic is very heavy that time of year!

Thanks for the replies everyone. A follow up question concerning traffic. I have a single night for the 30th at swan made. Then I have a 31-2 and a 31-1 as I decide what to do and wait to see if better deals pop up. One of my big uncertainties is how long the drive would be to get to Swan in the morning on the 31.

I really don't care to pay so much just to spend the night at Swan (particularly since we will be at MK on the 30th, so there wouldn't be much practical advantage to swan on that day), and would prefer to just drive over on the 31, but if that means waiting in hours of traffic just to get to the hotel, it will probably make a better experience for everyone if we just go ahead and do the 30th as well. If we decide to just do Swan for the 31 and leave pretty early to arrive at the resort and plan to just walk over to Epcot, what kind of expectations should I have?
