Pop Standard or ASMu Preferred?

For months I was on the fence of where to stay...Pop, ASMu or ASMo (stayed there once). I finally decided to stick with what we knew, ASMo, so I booked and paid in full our trip for October. Now the FD rumors are saying ASMo will be excluded so I'm trying to decide which resort to switch to with minimal cost.

Our experience at ASMo was fine. Nothing spectacular or magical, and I expect the same from all the Values. We do like being closer to the food court & busses after all the walking we do in the parks. The walk at ASMo from the "Herbie" section wasn't bad, IMO, but I wouldn't want a longer walk than that. We don't care about being near the noisy pools and we spend little time actually swimming. So close, but not noisy is what we're looking for.

Would you suggest Pop Std. or ASMu Preferred? After staying at ASMo I'm guessing ASMu will be similar...how about Pop?

We stayed in a Pop preferred room last summer and were placed in a room that was very close to everything - which as you know, is great after a long day at the parks! I have several friends who swear by Pop and don't pay the extra $ for preferred - they just ask for a room in the 50s/60s/70s and are close enough. Hope that helps! The exclusions in FD have us thrown for a loop too - we had planned on trying POFQ in November for the first time with AoA as a backup! Oops! We spent an hour on the website last night, researching other options. We may just return to Pop - it was a great resort! Good Luck!

I stayed in Broadway at ASMu and didn't think the walk was too bad, and that was for a standard room. Preferred will get you in the first set of buildings by the main building. The building layout at ASMu is more linear than the other two All-Stars, but the whole place is pretty compact.

I've never stayed at Pop (going there in October, funnily enough because ASMo won't have a big enough discount) but I do love the All-Stars.

IMO a standard room at Pop is fine, but I would always pay extra for a preferred room at Music.

What's the difference in price between Pop standard and ASMusic preferred? Go with the cheapest option.

$44 more for ASMu Preferred vs. Pop Standard.

I don't find the walk at AsMu bad at all--no matter where you are staying.

If noise is a concern (it is for me!), at all values I request a top floor room NOT facing the pool. I've never had a problem getting such--in fact they usually look at me like I am nuts!

I think if you stay in the furthest room out in Broadway, Rock or Country with two small children in the middle of summer for a week or more and you are relying on Disney transportation and you eat many meals at the quick service, you will find the walk horrific. :crazy2: This is especially true if you have already stayed in a Calypso room closest to the food court.

I don't have 2 small kids :confused3 but I have stayed at both Broadway and Country Fair in May and August and I chow and refill at the food court, and I still haven't found it a big deal.

Little Mermaid rooms OTOH........
