Pop Room increase

Everyone was wondering if the rooms at Pop would be going up with the new additions. Well, I think so! Looked at rates for end of January, low time, and they have increased. The same week last year was $300 less then next year! ASMovies is $50 less per night then Pop for that time frame.

I just checked September 2020 rates and it’s ridiculous. $200/nt for Pop, $171/nt for ASM. For value resorts! $279/nt at POR. Yeah, I know there were probably be discounts offered but it’s still too high for what it is. I think, at least for me, Disney has finally pushed the pricing beyond what I’m willing to pay.

Checked CBR for summer 2020, it is now the most expensive mod and rack rate for a standard view is $279. Inching closer to the $300 range. As expected, it looks like the gondolas are reflected in the price. :(

Yep, just priced our Pop vacay for next year, and it's hundreds more than the 2019 prices. I definitely expected this because of the gondolas though. It just stinks because over 200 dollars a night is not "value" pricing in my opinion.

Yep looked at MLK weekend and it's $200 a night. I paid $135 a night for Mardi Gras weekend THIS year.

They have lost their minds.

Well, as long as people pay, Disney is going to keep hiking the prices. I'm not sure riding a floating un-air-conditioned sauna is going to be worth the price hike, but there's nothing we can do about it except not stay there. Disney doesn't care if we don't like it, as long as we fork over the money.

Have stayed at POP for years but just booked All Star Music for 2020. Too big of a difference for us (almost $500 for our length of trip). We are in the parks all day and just need a clean place to sleep :)

Agreed... we were planning 2 trips next year... Feb & July. After seeing these rates I'm out, unless they'll be deeply discounted. We'll probably do the July trip as it's a celebration for my daughter's bday, but February I'll be looking at other beach vacations, and July will now be for fewer nights. Also will not be purchasing the AP's I was planning on. This is the tipping point for us.

We love Pop, but I am not paying that much for gondolas that my husband will probably refuse to use anyway. It's a $400 difference for the week in December we're looking at to stay at an All Star vs Pop. If I'm going to pay $200/night for Pop I may as well pay $258 for POFQ.

I agree! I will not pay over $200 for a value resort. Right now I have a rate of $161 for my January solo trip but can't price our November/December trip until July or August. I have a feeling we will end up at Movies or Music, and that is fine, or if the budget allows maybe POR or POFQ.

This is the #1 argument for buying DVC. Yes, dues go up a little and are based by actual operational cost increases, but rack rates go up a lot and are based on supply/demand.

Definitely a plus for buying DVC! For us, it would not make sense based on our traveling style but for the times we DO want to do a Disney trip, I do see the value. I expect DVC points will become pricier to rent, as brokers and owners will be able to increase the price based on the demand. Another plus for those of you that own DVC.

Yes, if you have the $15,000+ available. If you have to finance it, then you already lost! Not to mention how hard it is now to get reservations even at 11 month's out let alone 7 months, unless you always want OKW or SSR. The studio's are really the only room category that you save $$ over a normal reservation. Once you go up to a 1 or 2 bedroom, the points needed makes it more expensive. And you really need to know your plans 11 month's in advance, last minute type trips are very hard to put together. Now if you bought years ago, like my sister, then you were very smart:) You're right about the dues increases, they can only go up (I believe) between 4-6% yearly, BUT, don't forget the number of points needed per day can be raised any time WDW wants and that is where I think they will head next:( My sister bought in years ago and sometimes I am jealous and other times I laugh at how upset she gets trying to get a reservation.
Right now Riviera is going at $188 per point with $104 per month dues ($1,248 a year). My November trip at POP for 9 nights is less than $1100. We were going to stay at POFQ for $1800 but wanted to try the gondolas:)
Is it mean to keep telling my sister to make sure she has me getting her DVC points in her will:laughing:

I priced out a trip for spring break next March and Pop is $224 per night! That's crazy!

Not to mention, DVC does not include park tickets. Even if your room rate is "sort of" locked in (sort of since dues increase, points needed can increase) your park tickets definitely are not, and unless you want to do a resort only vacation, you need those too. As we saw overnight, APs just had a huge price jump. Not owning DVC, I'm free to scrap Disney altogether and vacation elsewhere if prices keep rising.

The parking doesn’t bother me, I’ve spent $40/night in DC this is still way cheaper. $200/night for POP is ridiculous but I doubt there won’t be discounts. It makes me wish I could afford DVC like my sister but alas I can barely afford the value resorts without a discount.
