I was just wondering if you guys think it is worth the extra money to upgrade to a preferred room instead of standard. If you have stayed in both maybe you can give me some pro's and con's of both.

I appreciate any help someone can give. :earsgirl:

We have stayed in both, and loved it!!!

Last summer, we stayed in the 60s since my DH & DD love the 1960s! Our room was on the 3rd floor, overlooking the kiddy pool. Our room was very quiet and clean! It was a short walk to the main bldg & bus area.

In Dec and again in June, we stayed in the 50s bldg - with Lady & The Tramp. It was very quiet - in Dec, we could see the fireworks from our room. In June, we were on the 1st floor, near the parking area. Both rooms were very quiet - we never heard our neighbors!

We really enjoyed all of our stays. I don't think I would necessarily pay the extra $10 for a preferred room. The 50s bldg was a short walk to the main bldg & bus stop area.

Again, we had some great times at the hotel! We're hopefully headed back in October (depends how fast we can recover from Hurricane Katrina).

Enjoy your trip!!!!

Unless you have a medical reason for needing to be a few minutes closer to the main building and bus stop, I'd say it's not worth it at all. :sunny:

We stayed in the 50's building which may be one of the buildings that is furtherest away but it wasn't bad at all. My opinion was I was closer than those that were in the preferred building because I was closer with parking. Plus, it was just a short walk to the food court and the game room. Overall, I would say that it was perfect and I would do it again in a minute.

We stayed in the 60's preferred room this last trip and enjoyed it. We stayed on the side with Baloo. We enjoyed the wuick access to the pool, but the other buildings didn't seem that far away. This time we are going to try a regular room !

I was there in May and stayed in Building 1 (Lady's building) in the 50's. I had a corner room right next to the bowling pin stairwell. Using the stairs I was only 2-3 minutes, if that from Classic Hall. I was closer than most people who were in the 60's preferred building. Due to people with strollers having to go on down to the elevators, I never heard a soul walk past my door. It was very quiet and a perfect location. Standing outside my door on the third floor I could see the 50's bowling pin pool and also the 60's Hippy Dippy pool, but was far enough away that I never heard any pool noise. It was great. I'll be back there in just a couple of weeks and plan to ask for the same area. I would not pay extra for the 60's peferred buidlings.

the 50's or 70's building. We are getting 4 rooms so we want to be able to be as close as possible.

I don't think that the 60's Preferred Building's rooms are any different. I just think that the building is close to Food Court etc.

Pop Map We like 70's Big Wheel building. I think it may be the closest to the buses, if you take the back way.

We stayed in the 70s building and found the location to be great. I think the only major difference between the standard and preferred is the pool and the slightly closer proximity to Classic Hall. Just request the 70s building that is closest to Classic Hall, the walk is short and the theming is great :flower:

I personally don't think it's worth an extra $10 per night for preferred.

I've had lots of one and two night stays (to save weekend points in DVC),
and I've always requested the 70s. I've been placed in the front, back
and sides of either building. I find that I can easily cut across walkways
to get to the bus stop or food court, no matter where they put me in the
70s.

I've discovered that if I'm in the far building, I can cut across the foosball
area and parking lot to get to the bus stop, and it doesn't seem to be that
bad of a walk.

I will be staying at Pop next week and did not bother with a "preferred" room. Booking 2 rooms, that is an extra $20.00 per day x 7 days = $140.00.
If someone paid you $140.00 to walk an extra 2 minutes 3 times per day, wouldn't you think that was a DEAL?
