I was reading through the thread about preferred vs. extra night and everyone seems to agree to stay the extra night instead of getting the preferred. Is this because you think they need the extra time (who doesn’t?) or is there something wrong with the preferred rooms – too noisy, etc.?

We have two preferred rooms booked the first week of November. I have two small children (will be 5 and almost 3) and I thought the close proximity to the main building, the pool and the children’s pool would be a plus for us. My dd22 and her friend will be occupying the second room.

I’ve changed my reservations 4 times already (POR to CBR, CBR to POP, trip from Dec to Nov, POP standard to POP preferred) but I guess I can call back and change again.

We stayed at Pop and paid extra for the preferred room. We had a lake view and it was really quiet. I could see though how getting a pool view it would be really loud in the 60's section, which the 60's section is considered preferred. Now that I've been there if I would go back I would just request either the 50's building or 70's. Both are still close to Classic Hall. I would cancel the preferred room and maybe ask for lake view in the 50's or 70's section. That way you are still close and dont have to worry about the noise. 50's section has the bowling pool and the 70's section doesn't have a pool. So maybe your best bet is 50's section lake view.

The preferred rooms are okay. the rooms facing the pool are going to be a bit noisier until midnight when the pool generally quiets down for the night. Also, not all the rooms are necessarily close to the kiddie pool. We stayed preferred our first trip to pop, wouldn't do it again. Nothing is that far away (except the 90's buildings) but if you really want to be centrally located then stay preferred. Personally we like the 70's buildings because you can short cut to the bustop if you need/want to.

I just say it isn't worth the extra amount of $$. Some of the non-preferred rooms are closer than the preferred rooms. The farthest bldg still isn't that far away.

The preferred rooms are simply not worth the money. You really don't get a much better room. We thought it was a waste.
