Pop or ASMovies?

We've been to the three moderate resorts and loved them.

A friend got us three days of free tickets at Universal Studios.

So we're thinking about staying two nights at the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal after we stay five nights at a Disney World resort.

To save money to help pay for the Hard Rock, we figured we'd try one of the value resorts.

Pop sounds neat!

Of the three All Stars, we'd probably pick the theming of the movies.

What do you all think?

How's the bus service at the value resorts? Pop vs All Stars?

Do a search and you'll find many threads on this topic.

I've stayed at both and much prefer All Star Movies. Bus service is much better at All Stars. You'll spend alot of time standing on Pop buses, and alot of time waiting in line for buses returning from the parks at Pop.

Theming is much more Disney at All Stars.

Food court is better and less crowded.

You'll find many different opinions on this. However, I happen to find that alot of the people that recommend Pop haven't stayed at Movies. But there are many that have stayed at both, and they recommend Movies.To me, that says a lot.

I've stayed at both and prefer the Movie resort. (then again, we are huge movie-goers) Still, the overall feel of the resort and customer service of the Movie resort is just fantastic. Whatever you choose, I know you'll have a blast!

I haven't stayed at AS Movies, but I have stayed at POP and loved it! DH and I are trying to decide where we are going to spend our first 2 days of our trip in May....Movies or Music?

I would definitely pick Pop over the AS--ANYDAY.

I prefer the All Star resorts.

The Calypso buildings at All Star Music are #1 and #10 are nearest to the food court and bus stop.
They are the preferred buildings and cost about $12 extra per night.
The Calypso pool at ASMU has Donald Duck.

The Fantasia Buildings are the preferred buildings.
The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.
The buses are wonderful.

The All Star resorts have 1960 rooms each.
Pop has 2,880rooms.
That means more people in the pools,food court and in line waiting for the bus.
When phase 2 of POP is built it will be 2 bus stops at POP and the 2 POPs will have the same # of rooms as the 3 All Stars.

BUS SHARING
It is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes its all 3 but often Sports and Music share and Movies has it's qwn bus back.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

Also All Star is closer to the main road to get to parks and thats why bus rides are shorter from there than from POP.

I the All Star Resorts --they can't be beat. I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney.
My last 5 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we took dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 we are staying at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?

I prefer POP myself! My best friend and I were supposed to stay at the All Stars until they bumped us at the last minute...no rooms for us there! It turned out to be the best thing that happened to us! POP rocks!
