POP--Need to Room Request NOT to face pool?

On our upcoming trip in late October, we are staying at POP for the first time (actually our first time at a Value), and I'm a bit nervous about some posts I've seen regarding how noisy it can be.

So, we booked a Standard room b/c I knew that Preferred View could face a pool and that tends to be noisier. But, is it possible we could get put in a pool-view room even if we booked Standard?

More specifically, should I call and put in a room-request stating we want to make sure we are NOT facing a pool? I've also thought about requesting a 3rd or 4th floor room (for the same reason--less noisy), but not sure--is this really helpful as far as noise-level? We're not set on a particular building and figured we'd just let that happen by "luck-of-the-draw." ;)

Thanks!

Yes you could be facing a pool in a Standard room. I would request lakeview or parking lot view to avoid pool view.

4th floor can help with toilet flushing noise but it doesn't really help with pool noise. We were in bldg 3 facing the pool once and the noise from the pool late at night was awful.

I'd recommend requesting a building away from the pools.

You can get a map of the buildings on www.allears.net. Look under resort photos - it usually the last pic in the slideshow.

I am at POP right now, I didn't request a room NOT facing the pool and sad that i didn't make that request. Last night it was very noisey until 2 am! YES 2 AM! crazy! BTW we are not at the main pool and we are on the 2nd floor

We stayed at Pop (9 nights) a year ago and aside from *guaranteed connecting* request, we requested building 3, fourth floor, and lakeview. We got them all. It was so quiet we never heard any outside noise at all. I honestly thought the rooms around us must be empty until one night we met the family next to us outside our doors watching the fireworks. If you are concerned about noise it certainly couldn't hurt to put in some requests. :)

Did you call to have someone take care of that? Quiet time is 10pm. After 10 I have called the front desk and they sent someone out to remind the noisemakers what time it was.

We have stayed at Pop three times and have gotten a preferred room each time. We request a non-pool side room, a decade, and a floor each time and have gotten our requests each time.

We had a preferred room in April. We requested upper floor, non pool facing room. We were put in building one sort of facing the parking lot (there is a lot of foliage, so it's mostly trees that you see). It was QUIET in that location. I've posted this before, but I found it to be much quieter than the rooms we've had at our past 3 Disney stays (AKL, BWV, VWL).

Pop was our first value stay, and it was absolutely fine. I've actually decided, that unless the price difference is miniscule, I'd pick a value over a moderate any day that I'm not staying deluxe.
