we have 2 rooms booked for POP Dec 21-26, 1 room is a double and the other was to be a kig(when we booked originally) not sure that the king room transferred when we modified the resi and got the FD. this being said, I can do the online checkin and not sure what to request as for buildings...I know I had seen somewhere on the boards a map of where the king rooms are but can not seem to find it....and insite on what to request would be great, we did not do the preferred this trip, hoping that isn't a big deal as my kids are now older and having the shortest walk isn't a must.

At all the Value Resorts, King rooms are by request only, it's not something that can be booked. If you really want a King I would make that your only request. That will really up your odds of getting it. But it is still just a request.

I second what dansdad said. Also, there are very few king rooms. If I had to guess I would say that they make up approx. 10% of the total rooms available. Many of the kings are handicap accessible.

Could you be confused about what resort you had booked? Could it have been POR instead of POP? Only resorts you can book King are the Mods. That is one of the main reasons we book at those resorts more than ever, so we can be sure to get a King bed. If you moved from POR to POP it would have lost the King room as they can't be booked there

Not a bookable category at POP, just a request, and hard to get one at that.

Looks like there are only 30 regular King rooms at POP Century, so 1% = not good odds.

Excellent observation

Im at pop on the 19th and did the online check in and it wasn't a choice. I called and requested a king and they noted the reservation. It's an option when you call but not online. I also did some digging on touring plans and it looked like most of the king rooms are in the 70s section (I think). I just called the normal reservation number.

I knew they were very few. I have a copy of that map somewhere in my WDW file. 1% is a lot less than "very few"

The layout of each building is the same.

And a few weeks ago I totally saw king as a booking category for pop so they must've taken it away recently

They are spread out throughout the resort in same exact room numbers (all buildings are the same) so no concentration. They are the purple rooms on the map above and the list shows which buildings they are in. 1 building (6 rooms) in 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90. The green rooms have some Kings but they are modified Handicapped Accessible rooms.

Possibly a glitch, never known POP to allow it bookable especially since there are hardly any there. Or maybe you were glancing at POR.

Thanks! I typed in king and close to transportation so that's why I kept getting the 70s for the room finder. I wasn't looking at POR as I don't look for rooms there, but I do think that they had king rooms as a booking category, I know they don't anymore. Regardless, OP, you can request it by phone!

When I stayed at Pop, I'd booked through a TA and had her request a king bed room in the 50's section. I got it - we were in room 2222. I didn't know those rooms were so rare! But yeah, I'd say to call and request a king room if you want it.

It had to have been a glitch. It's never been bookable before or after. Doesn't mean they didn't have an error following one of their annoying updates that put it out there for a moment. One thing for sure, it is not something they intended to have as a bookable option, which would be why it is now gone and was not there in the past, beyond whatever time you noticed it

For what it's worth, you can request King rooms at all Value and Deluxe resorts. No matter what options show up on online check in you can always call and request. Just it's just that, a request. If someone wants king, they must book it at a Mod.

Actually with Pop you CAN book a king bed in advance, but the only place to do so is under handicapped rooms.
If you press accessible, they list both two doubles and one king.

The OP said nothing about needing a handicapped room for their party. Disney is a very popular destination for folks with special needs because it is a very accessible destination.

PLEASE do not book a Handicapped Accessible room if you don't need it. I travel often with DS who is disabled and some of the features would be very helpful for me BUT because I know there are others with greater needs, I don't book those rooms, making due with a regular room. Some day I will have to book those rooms and how sad it will be if I try and there is none available because "typical" non-handicapped folks are booking them just for a bed.

If you want to be assured a King bed then book at a hotel that will allow you to book it.

Ah, that's right. I have seen that when I clicked accessible option inadvertently. I bet that is why PP saw King rooms. When I saw those King rooms I quickly realized it though and backed out and searched correctly. I don't even feel right requesting King rooms since I know most of the time we end up in an accessible room and I feel bad since we don't need it. I'll do it on the rare instance we book Deluxe any more. Mostly we stick with the PO resorts so we can book King

I was not suggesting for them to book the handicapped room, just wanted to make it known that it is possible. Probably how they saw the king to begin with.

Thank you. My comment was to anyone out there thinking about using the "loophole" to get a King bed.

I know when we first made our reservation I had asked about a king room, not that we will get it, but did request it---if we don't it's not a big deal. Originally I booked 2 rooms and only 4 of us were going-we now have my son that is able to meet us(he will check in the 22-and we check in the 21-couldn't get him a flight any earlier)
Thank you for the input and the map as to where king rooms are-what ever room we get is fine:) thanks again
