POP fans please ease my fears

Don't let anyone's bad experience ruin your trip. Yes there will always be some downsides but look at the positive. We originally tried to book ASmu and was disappointed when we could not get what we wanted for the dates we needed. So we switched to POP. Initially i was worried about all the negative comments i read, that i decided just to ignore it and hope for the best! :goodvibes

You will have a magical trip no matter where you stay! :tink:

I love the Pop. I have been 3 times and always had a great experience. I have stayed in the 50's 70's and 80's - so I have seen the resort from all different angles. I was worried at first about having a room in the 80's but location to the busses was actually not bad - we are all adults though and cut through the parking lot to take the shortest distance. We have never paid for a preffered location and don't think we ever would. I think the best location we had was in the 70's - the building with the giant Mickey phone.

Another plus about the Pop is that it is the first stop off the ME - so you come directly there from the airport.

As for thin walls, yes they are, but surprisingly most people don't find them too disruptive. Family members had the room next to mine on my last trip and unfortunately I came down with a stomach bug the last night and needless to say there was a lot of loud toilet flushing that night. I apologized the next day for what I was sure was a massive annoyance, and nobody was disturbed at all.

We are staying at CSR this trip because my parents want to do a bit more relaxing at the resort. One thing I would say about the Pop is that it is a great resort if you are going to be in the parks all day every day, but I don't think it is that convenient for coming back for midday breaks. Plus, the pool at CSR looks like a better choice for my adults only trip than Pop's and CSR is a more central location to all of the parks than Pop is.

Regardless, you will have a blast at Pop - have fun taking pictures with all of the giant props/memorabilia! :goodvibes

I agree. My family stayed at AKL on our last trip. We discovered that because we stayed at the parks all day, we were only there to sleep. The amenities that we were paying for weren't even used. We decided next time we would stay at a value. I think that the kids will enjoy it. I can't wait to go to Pop in December. I have heard so many good things about it on here. Check out the Pop picture thread!

I really haven't read everyone else's posts, just skimmed them. I didn't want to be swayed by what they said. So...here goes.
I've stayed at the Polynesian, CR, Music, BWV, BCV, S/D, POR (and DxL), POP...all different levels. POR holds a special place in my heart because it was my first resort. I love the theming and the grounds there, but I have to say I have been a bit let down by housekeeping and the food court in the past.
I loved the Polynesian, but it's funny. With all this talk about thin walls and hearing every little noise at the values, the Polynesian was my noisiest stay ever. The kids running down the halls at night/early morning, the people next door to us (and we had two different families next door during our stay) were heard all the time, but that could have been due to the connecting door...hate those. Love the grounds but hated the noisyness.
I love POP. I called Member Services at DVC this morning to change a reservation I have, the agent informed me I had no more points for '08, which I knew. Told her I guess I would be spending a lot of time at POP in '08!!!! Yep, that's where I go if I'm not at BWV. I love everything about it. The only thing I don't like is that you have to pay for a fridge, so I don't get one, and I wish they would put up the privacy curtains there as well as in the moderates. I bring my own but wish I didn't have to. Just use a tension rod and a fabric shower curtain....looks fine.
I love the ground of POP...it's so nice to walk down by the lake. Very peaceful and pretty. And the food court has always been good in my experience. Yes, it can get a bit crowded but if you plan accordingly, you can miss the crowds. The gift shop is really a good one. And the bus service is more than okay. Sure, some of the bus stops at the parks can be a hike but that's the price you pay I guess. Plan accordingly again. At MK and Epcot the bus stops are waaaay out, but at DTD and MGM they are pretty close to the front of the line. Can't remember at AK...think it was pretty close.
All in all...I love POP. Im fact, I have to book it for a trip in late April...POP for 3 nights and then over to BWV for 4 nights.
