Has anyone stayed at the Pop Century hotel? or will be before March 18th 2004? We are going from March 18 -25 and would love to hear what you thought? Also wondering if there is an actual playground there with slides, climbing stuff etc. I can see stuff about a water playground, but not sure about the other kind.

If the resort is anything like the All Stars they have small play areas for the kids with slides and climbers etc they are not really big but still lots of fun for the little ones.

We have reservations for PC in May, haven't actually been there yet. But I have surfed quite a bit and viewed many pictures. There most definitely is a playground. (I just saw a picture of it recently, but now that I want it, I can't find it for you!)

Where in Northern ON are you from? We are from Timmins and are going down March 10-20, staying at Pop Century

Hey we're neighbours. LOL. Well, neighbours in the north that is. We live in Cochrane. But visit Timmins frequently. We are actually flying out of Timmins for our trip. Are you flying? or driving?

Guess there'll be a whole Ontario contingent at Pop Century!! We're from Ottawa.
See ya there!!

Those were great pictures of POP, diz karen. Thanks for posting the link.

Dh and I will be there during March Break too. :bounce:

Our 3 21 year olds loved it. (well actually one of ours and 2 borrowed ones!)We were there Jan 5-11.They thought the other resorts seemed dimmly coloured in comparison. They wanted to go back right away, and it wasn't all just because we came back to arctic temps and the clean-up from a blizzard.
There are 2 twister games between the 70's buildings. Our non-smoking rooms REALLY hadn't been smoked in. Bright, clean. I saw one DRY playground area at the 70's, plus there are water play areas. Bus system works well.
We'd stay there again.

We are also flying. We have never made the drive. Always either fly from Timmins, or sometimes from Toronto. We got some good rates for the whole trip this time.

Since you are in Timmins and I'm in Cochrane, I'd love to ask you some more questions. Check your private messages.

PJPoohbear is there right now and will be taking plenty of pics and reporting back!

We just got in tonight from 7 nights at Pop Century. There was definitely a small playground. I have to agree that the bus service was good. We usually drive to the parks but this week we took the bus everywhere. Now, it's back to reality . . . :(

Welcome back Nancy! Did you enjoy your stay at POP? I've read so much about it here on the DIS and I'm really looking forward to our stay there in March. Any suggestions?

Hi Julie,
We had a great time. I requested and received a king room (no kids this trip :D ) The refillable mugs are $11.99 but well worth it. We only ate in the food court a couple of times, and it was just okay. BUT - the tie-dye cheesecake and the carrot cake were so yummy. I would definitely recommend those. The price of a beer or a wine cooler was ridiculous (something like $4.50 for a beer). Since we don't drink much, it wasn't an issue for us. I liked the colour of the rooms and of course, I love those Mickey soaps and shampoos. The maid service was good and the bus service was very good. Like the All-Stars, the outside of the building is very bright. We were in the 70s building with huge 8-track tape icons. Very convenient to the food court and the buses. I know you'll have a wonderful time. March break will be here before you know it!

We stayed last Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the POP Century. I saw the children's playground. It was right near to the parking lot for the 70's /80's buildings.
We arrived there later at night about 9pm. Check in was really smooth and our check in guy was quite fun.
We didn't actually spend much time at the resort, because we wanted to go to early opening at Epcot the next day and didn't return until about 9pm again.
The room was very nice, we had 4 people, 2-16yr girls and my husband any myself. The girls went for a late night swim in the bowling pin pool.
We had one breakfast in the restaurant there. I had french toast and it was very very good. They put some kind of crumbly topping on it.
We had a rental car so we drove from park to park (4 parks in one day). The friends we went with used the bus to go to Magic Kingdom and said it was fine. Since they didn't get to ride the Monorail to Magic Kingdom, I took the bus back to the POP Century resort with the girls after the fireworks while the others took the rental car.
We were back at the resort at least 20 minutes before the ones with the car, it was standing room only in the bus though and it sure seemed like we drove a long ways while we were standing.
All in all it was a very positive experience for our very first ever time on-site of Disney property.

Wow! We are from Toronto and we wil be there May 14-24...at Pop Century....Cool

Sounds like we should take over a whoel unit and call it an all Ontarian Section or something

:)

I just got back from Pop Century but we stayed in the 50's building and really didn't do much at the resort. We saw 2 of the pools but not up close and we didn't get time to walk around the resort. We also didn't eat any meal at the food court as we had brought our breakfast stuff with us and the rest of the meals were at the parks. It was colourful and did the job for us. There were only the 2 of us and we were at the end of the building so we were actually quite close to the main building. Check in was fine no real problem there but they were suppose to give me $10.00 in Disney $'s (because of a mistake they made) and they ended up charging our Visa. They (hopefully) have corrected it. The rooms were really clean and maintained, no problems there. We used the car except for one time when I went back to the room earlier and used the bus. There was no problems with it at all.

You too Cruisin. I don't mind having my own bed back, but it seems the maids and cooks aren't here. I keep waiting for them to clean my house and cook the meals but......................nothing happens??????? LOL
