Hi,
We have decided to stay at POP Century and I will be making my reservation this Monday for May 2006. We weren't interested in paying extra for the preferred rooms, but had some questions I hope you all can help us out with:

1. Which section is the most fun?

2. Are all the 60's rooms preferred?

3. If we stay in the 50's or 70's sections can we request a specific room number or a room closer to Century Hall/The Pool? If we can request room numbers what do you recommend?

4. What time do the first buses leave for Disney in the morning (on average) and will they get you there before the parks open?

Thanks For Any Info You Can Give

1. What do you consider fun? Pool? Icons?

2. Yes, all 60's rooms are preferred.

3. Yes, you can request a specific room or room closer to Classic Hall, but it's not guaranteed. I would just ask to be close to Classic Hall. If you ask for a specific room and it's not available, they could put you anywhere.

4. Don't know that one.

We just got back from staying at Pop and we were in the 70's building which is right next to the 60's building and a very short walk to the Main Hall and Pool. You walk right past the Goofy jumping water fountains to get to the 70's building which my DS5 loved being able to run through every night when we returned back to the room. We were at the back of the building, but it wasn't a big deal at all...a quick ride up the elevator and a couple of turns and we were there.

We were in the 70's building facing the Mickey phone. This was a great location. A quick walk to the food court and to the busses. In fact, it was quicker to walk around the back of the building to get to the busses than going through the lobby.

We only stayed two nights, but really enjoyed our time there.

When I went in Jan. of this year, I had a wonderful stay. I stayed on the 4th floor of the 50s section in building 2 with a view of Wishes fireworks and Illuminations. Our room number was #2441, we loved it! The closest pool was the bowling pin pool, and all you had to do was go down the elevator and turn left, go straight, and you will find it.

I would say that the 50s' section is the most fun for some reason. It's very close to the food court and bus stations. And yes, all of the 60s rooms are preferred which would cost an extra $10 a night. If I could pick any hotel on Disney property (value, moderate, or deluxe) I would defiently pick POP Century. I hope this helps you out! If you have any more questions just ask and I will try to help!

We were in the 70's, building 10, room 160. I would definately recommend this room. It was on the corner, away from the elevators, close to the 60's pool and food court. There is also a "shortcut" to the bus stops.

We stayed at POP in May 2005 - we were in the 50's section on the fourth floor. Short walk to the main hall and foor court. When we could get a good parking spot - it was an easy walk to the room. It was great - quiet.

Although some disagree, I strongly reccommend that you NOT pay for the preferred 1960's section. We stayed in Building B of the 1950's and adored it! :) It is more separate from the rest of the resort and therefore very quiet. It has its own pool and theming. Building A is even closer to the main building, but where we were it took 2 minutes to get to it! I really encourage you to try this area. You will love it!

I would recommend 50's section with a Lake view somewhere between the 2nd and 4th floors. This is the last hotel over on that side. It is quiter than having pool side and you can get a good view of Illuminations from the walkway. It was awesome for DW, DS(11), and myself. We loved it!!! ::MickeyMo

Is the 50"s section preferred? We are staying at POP in September and did not take preferred room. Thanks1

No, 50's are standard. 60's are the only preferred buildings.

70's B building is the closest to everything. We just got back. Some of the 60's is close to the main building, but further from the bus stops. We were in 453 which was about a third of the way down from the elevator which was perfect. There was a back way to the buses and parking lot. And you were very close to the main building. The 80's building that is closest to the front parking lot if the room was in the right place would be great also. I thought the 50's seemed to off on there own as well as the 90's and other 80's building. In my opnion we had a perfect room location. We could also see the playground when you looked off of the walkway.

I just returned from my stay at POP today. I was in the 50's building and absolutely loved it. We were on the 4th floor and couldn't hear any outside noise. It was, at the most, a 5 minute walk to the busses or classic hall. Was very happy with it. :)

I have to say - I really liked the 60s section.

I stayed there last year and had a pool view and I really enjoyed being in that section because it seemed like the hub of all the excitment. Yes, it was a bit noisy but it didn't bother me.

My wife said we always have to stay in this section because she is a real hippie. So I am stuck with paying the extra money. LOL.

However, I wouldn't mind staying at the 50s I spent a little time swiming in the bowling pin pool and it was real nice. If you want to be close and not spend the extra money I would try this section.

30 more days and I will be in the Hippie Dippie Pool. Hey anyone want another frozen coke.

Life is good!!!! :goodvibes

I loved 70s especially with a preschooler. I don't remember the secion but if you walked past the 60s and took a right after the mickey phone we were down by the lake. I think it was 70s A. My dd was 3.5 at the time. She loved running on the fussball field, playing twister, running thru the pop jets etc when we walked from food court or bus stops to/from room etc. Even with her walking it took less than 5 minutes to walk from our room to the bus stops. We want to get the same section again when we go in Jan 2006. I like visiting all the sections and doubt you could go wrong anywhere at Pop but dont' feel there is a need to spend extra money for preferred.

I have noticed a few complaints about the bises at POP. Has anyone ever had a problem waiting a long time? Also is there a place to hang up clothes? Thanks!

We only had a problem one time with the buses. We waited over 30 minutes for the DTD bus. When we finally got picked up we had to go to Typhoon Lagoon first and then instead of going right across the street to DTD the bus driver took the long, back way. :confused3

There's a clothesline over the tub. I saw some people hang things outside their rooms, over the railing (2nd-4th floors). IMO, it's a bad idea, someone could take it and it looks very tacky. The railing isn't for the guests to use as a clothesline. A lot of people like to take pictures of the buildings with the huge icons and they don't want to have laundry in their picture.

Wow! I am really impressed with the theming of this resort. This might be the place for us to stay in June 2006. Does anyone know if they have any connecting rooms at Pop? Six of my friends and I are going then, do you think this resort would be a good pick for us?
