When the issue first happened it seemed pretty easy to get the credits. Now that the letters have been popping up they are less likely to give you the credit and with simply offer to store any perishables at the front desk. The letters seem to be coming out slowly but it does sound like Disney is using that as a "fair warning" situation.

I had difficulty getting my credit before the letters came out. My sister flew to Pop a week after me. She had received a letter a few days before arriving, but she had no problem getting a credit. I really think it just depends on your CM.
 
My question is actually about Magic bands because I know many people here have customized theirs. Where do they write your name on the band? It's just DH and myself, we don't need names to tell our bands apart, and it seems a little weird to have our names written for everyone to see. Are the letters big or discreet?

The letters are written in capital letters on the inside of your band. Sometimes a CM might say your name when you scan your band to go on a ride because your name pops up on their screen. Otherwise it's discreet.
 
Your name is on the inside of the band, very small. You have to take the band off to see the name.
 
FREE FRIDGE!

We're at Pop now and didn't have a working fridge in our room when we got here so we ended up buying one. ;) We're checking out today and just realized we don't know what to do with the fridge, obviously we can't take it on the plane.

So, is there anyone here now or checking in today that would like a free fridge???

We could use it if not already taken by someone else. That is so nice of you!
 

I asked nicely for a credit and was told no when I was told there was no working fridge in my room. I then explained nicely that I had booked the trip a year ago when fridges were part of the amenities and I was staying for a 13 day trip and really needed a fridge and was still told no. I asked nicely to speak to a manager and was told I could use their main fridge to store any items I purchased through Garden Grocer.

I finally got mad and got my credit. Please don't assume being nice will get you the credit. I think a lot depends on the CM or manager you happen to be dealing with.

This is just poor service. No excuse. If you are supposed to have refrigerators and then have to take that away for what ever reason, then you need to compensate your guests. I would expect that from a Super 8 let alone a Disney resort. :sad2:
 
My thoughts on the fridge issue: I made reservations when the fridge was part of the room, we all know when they put them in the room, there was an increase in the per night room rate. If I don't have a fridge, Disney should offer the credit, after all, I have already paid for it. Either way, I will have the best trip every, won't let it get me down, but you should get what you pay for.

Absolutely! We also made our reservations last September and fridges were part of the package. We have 3 rooms this trip and we go every September. If they don't give me the credit we will be staying at Marriott from now on. They have fridges there.
 
I'm taking my cooler. If we have a fridge fine. If not, fine. This is what I used to do before and we got the fridge.

Actually, this is not correct. There was no increase when the refrigerators were put in. Installation was completed in April of last year. Rates remained the same throughout all of 2012. Rates increased for 2013 as they have every year. The addition of the refrigerators was not a factor. The $15 credit is very generous considering amenities are never guaranteed at any resort (anywhere, not just Disney), and when they didn't come standard with the room, they were only $10 per night to rent.

we check in on 10/22 for our third stay at pop! I enjoy the resort and the food court. it's been a few years since we stayed at pop 2009 or 2010 was our last time at pop. I hope not too much has changed since then!!

Walmart takes anything back....doesn't matter if its used or its been a while since you bought it. So if they got it there than yes, they can return it.

What I was getting at is, they are wrapped up in the cost of the room now, not an extra charge as before. But as I said, if I get one ok, if I don't I am fine. Doesn't change my trip

This^ We are checking in on 10/4 and we'll be fine either way. Of course I would prefer a fridge but we'll make do. The fridges are being replaced because of a possible safety hazard. Not to stick it to us. :)

Okay, that makes a lot more sense than having adults walking around with their names displayed. Thanks for the information. Now I just need to decide if I want to keep the pink or switch to green...oh the decisions! I wish they came in purple.

All of us who want purple should put that in our survey. I wanted purple too and know so many people who wanted it. With out purple I had a hard time choosing between pink, green, and blue.
 
I just asked at the food court why an entire station has been closed down all week. They said it was because occupancy is low.

It was closed for the two days we were there as well on 7/31-8/2.

We were at AoA in June and walked over to Pop to have lunch on 6/27. One of the stations was closed that day as well and we were there around 11:30 so it was quite busy in the food court. I think the "occupancy is low" excuse is just the standard response. I suspect it's more of a money-saving/cost-cutting issue.
