doing a happy :dance3::dance3: because i just paid off my september vacation

:woohoo: What a great feeling! Congrats!!

Ooh! I leave and come back and a new thread starts!

Well here's my mini report...

DH and I spent 6 nights at POP 4/18-4/24. It was great! All bus waits were really short outside of one afternoon waiting for Downtown Disney and after Wishes getting back from MK (which is to be expected). I was highly impressed with the buses and would recommend staying here just based on that fact alone.

The resort was clean and comfortable. My request for ground floor and building 6 was met. We were at a corner with a view of the lake and it was quiet. DH was worried that it would be a little loud but it wasn't at all! The loudest it was on the last day when we had someone above us.

Can't same much about the meals at POP. We had 2 breakfasts and one dinner. It was fine. We were just so full from the dining plan, that we didn't really eat anything in the resort. Pools were clean and comfortable.

The only negative was the Wifi. I know it's free, but it was sketchy at best. We had problems with our iPad and our iPhones while we were there. The cell service wasn't very good in our location either. Other areas of the resort were a little better. I was able to check my work email and that's about it which I suppose saved me from doing real work while I was gone!

I'm happy to answer questions people may have about the resort since I was just there :)

We'd definitely go back there! We tried a few meals at other resorts this time to get a feel for how those were. Wasn't really impressed with Grand Floridian, but would love to try Poly at some point.

Melissa... Welcome back and thanks for the review! So happy you requested all your requests and that you enjoyed POP. It seems that busing to DTD is an issue at any resort. Did you get a chance to see a movie or two?? So when's the next trip??? :flower3:

Wow - a new thread! Yay! I haven't checked in about a week and saw the other one said "closed" at the end. I literally said outloud "Noooooooo!!!" Luckily, I followed the link in your sig, Janet!

I'm with several others... this is my daily "news" :thumbsup2

We are going to Pop for our first stay this July. I booked a preferred room, and requested 60s building, 1st floor, courtyard. When I get there, I may change it to lakeview if there is one available in 60s and if they let me switch to standard to get it.

So, how IS the Pop Pizza? We were planning to pick up a pizza on our arrival evening. Should I get it there, or order from Domino's or something?

Can't wait!!!:yay:

:yay: For finding us!! Happy the link in the signature was helpful. :)

Actually never had the POP pizza ... from reports people say it's okay.

As Sandi said, there is Mears for transportation and they are very good.

For me though, it was pretty easy to just get a car for the day. I decided on this because it was cheaper to do so. You can find some great rates online and it was so easy to just jump in the car and head over, rather than waiting for the Mears shuttle and coordinating. We rented through Alamo and we did have to use a shuttle to get to the Alamo place and back, but as I posted earlier, as long as you coordinate the pick up then it's easy as can be. Something about leaving US and walking to a car to get back to Disney just sounded better to me. But either will work! :goodvibes

We rented a car last year too for Universal ... we just like having the control; plus there were 4 of us and Mears charges per person, so it just seemed good sense to have the car for our Disney stay too - more flexibilty. And we went for 3 days to Universal ... mostly for Harry Potter! :cool1:

We will be at Pop in May, we have been several times and it feels like "home" to us. We are getting excited to be back there again :goodvibes.

:cheer2: Than your POP vacation is very close! Wish we didn't have to wait until August ... oh well. I will live thru you and others that go before me. :goodvibes

How much is it to take a cab from POP to The Beach Club? We have breakfast reservations at Cape May and looking at how to get there. We are planning to go to Epcot after that...cab again?

Epcot is an easy walk from Beach Club, so that's what I would do after breakfast. There is also boat transportation. We had a late breakfast reservation at Cape May earlier this month, so we took the bus to epcot, did soarin and some other stuff and then walked over to BC for our 10:45 ADR.

I'm not sure of the cost for a cab, but would guess about $10 plus tip.

Just wondering, how much time would you give to take bus to epcot and either ride boat or walk to Beach Club? We have reservations for the kids at Sandcastle Club (babysitting) in the evening. And then hubby & I are walking into Epcot for dinner! When I made reservation, I was told that World Showcase was a 10 minute walk from Sandcastle Club.

Thanks, Helen

You have to get to the international gateway to get to BC. At least a 20 minute total walk, I would plan on 30 minutes plus whatever time the bus takes.

From Sandcastle Club to the back entrance to Epcot's world showcase probably is a 10 minute walk. Where are you having dinner?

To get from Pop to the front entrance of Epcot and then walk thru Epcot to go out the back entrance and then walk to Beach Club, I'd allow for a good hour or more. Epcot is big and, depending on where the bus drops you, it can be quite a walk just to get to the main entrance from the bus. Also, everyone in your party will need to have admission to Epcot just to go thru to get to the BC (people have reported CMs allowing walk thrus, but I don't think you can count on that).

Hey, everyone! I was wondering anyone knows if there are connecting rooms on the top floor of any of the buildings in POP? We always prefer top floor but have requested connecting rooms since our son will be in our second room.

Also, if anyone who has multiple food allergies has gone to POP recently or will be soon has any advice to give in the food court, that'd be great. We've stayed at POP tons of times but not since my new allergy diagnosis. I have to avoid wheat, eggs, soy, peanut and dairy.

Thanks!

So we have wifi and frig...coffee pots too? :surfweb:

That will make them SUPER value resorts! :woohoo:

We are leaving 4 weeks from today!

As always I think I am the biggest kid, lol...can't wait! We really enjoy the atmosphere at POP and from the gift shops I have seen, I think the one there is one of the best as far as selection goes.

Will

On connecting rooms, I think every floor has connecting rooms. This map can help:

When you get to one of the food stations let them know about your allergies. A chef will come out and talk to you about what you can and can not have. I found this out accidentally. I was asking if one of the sandwiches had onions since i can't have them. The next thing I know a cast member was talking to me asking if I had an allergies and going over what had onions and what didn't.

We had a top room in the 70s building. Ours was a king bed room and there was a door to the room next to us. So the answer is yes :thumbsup2

All you Pop experts out there, I need some help! Can you have a roll away bed in the room at Pop, not to increase capacity in the room, only because we have 3 adults in one of our rooms who all prefer to sleep alone, lol! Any info or first-hand experiences are greatly appreciated!

I know you will get lots of feedback on this, but have to share my experience too. The Disney staff really outdoes their normal high standard when it comes to food allergies! If you are on the DP, then any reservation you make has your allergy alert and the chef ALWAYS comes out to discuss your allergy. I ate at the Fired Flatbread station at Pop and the chef there even discussed my allergy and prepared my food himself. I am severly allergic to seafood and react from a spoon that might have stirred the tuna salad and then the chicken.

I live in south Louisiana and rarely eat out because have had reactions and had to use the epipen. I felt safer at Disney than anywhere I have ever eaten.

Hi! As jcarwash and Karabee stated there are connecting rooms on all floors at POP. :thumbsup2

FYI ... the connecting map that jcarwash post is located in the first post of the FAQ thread. :goodvibes

Roll-away beds are available, charge is $16.88 (includes tax). :)

(Thanks Sandi!)
