when we don't have a car, the first or second night, we walk across bueana vista drive (there is a sto light) to the Hess gas station.. we bought an 18 pack of Miller lite for about $12. then waked back to the bus stop.. they do allow you to bring it on the disny buses!

This is good to know. I've been there 4 times and have never done this. So this is the year we'll do it. How far of a walk? Is it a straight walk...no turns, no left or rights ? Also do they sell other things bedises beer? Such as coolers or wine? thanks.:goodvibes

Janet and the other moderaters:

thanks so much for this thread. It is the friendliest thread. :grouphug:
I'm hoping to meet some of you at POP this fall. :goodvibes

When will you be there Janet? I see by your ticker one of your trips is either august or September.

Just found out a potential reason why the online checkin hasn't seemed to work -- there's another thread on this board asking about online checkin, and someone said it didn't work if you had already made room requests with your reservation. I had -- asked for something close to the Classic hall (but not changing from standard) because I was traveling alone. Don't know why it wouldn't change my credit card, but the room selection problem makes sense. Does that sound like a possibility for anyone else who's had problems with the online checkin?

Sounds like what might have happened to me. When I originally reserved, the woman put me in a preferred room kinda near the food court and transportation. That was back in February. When I tried to do online check in at a week or so out, it wouldn't go through.

Hello! I'm hoping someone can help me make a decision on where to try to request a room at the resort. :) Traveling with 2 little ones- 7 and 5, so I would like to be as close to transportation as possible since they will be tired and I will probably be carrying at least one of them out of the park at night, and off the bus and back to the room, LOL. I was hoping for first floor, somewhat close to a pool as well. We booked a standard room. I've been looking at the map and I'm kind of stuck and can't make up my mind. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!

I'd have to say the backside of the 50's would probably be the best...

Anyone know when the June movie schedule will be out?

Usually available within the first few days of the month :)

 Thanks Donna!! LOTs of friendly people here:thumbsup2 And, it would be great to meet up with you too!

Our August plans are arriving 8/19 departing 8/25, possibility of extending to Sunday. :cool1: And you are arriving on 8/25 ..... our september plans *might* be the weekend of 9/28 ... still TBD ... right now the ticker says Columbus day weekend .... either way missing you unless you make that month long trip a month and a half!! :laughling:

Ditto--we stayed exactly there a few years ago and were in the first room past the preferred rooms. Super convenient, though not a great view. My room request had been "1st floor close to buses" and they fulfilled it well.

Hi! The 60s would be a good option, those std rooms face the lake and you have the hippy dippy pool so close. :thumbsup2

For the 50s, bldg 1 (Lady) offers std rooms on the backside, and bldg 3 lakeview as TinkerbellsMom0923 stated.

Bldg 9 (80s/90s) is also a good option since areas in this bldg are close to busing and Classic Hall and walking thru to the front of the bldg you have the computer pool. :)

hmmmm...guess this would help explain why you both, as well as others, that had requests on the reservation, also had issues checking in on-line. It seemed though it was still possible to do both a few months back ... perhaps Disney has "refined" the system not to allow requests in both areas.

It seemed not productive though... how would guests know that they would not have the ability to utilize the on-line system if room requests were made at booking or added after?

Well, it would certainly negate us having the ability to check in on-line for our August trip, as we have room requests already noted.

I have a question that may sound strange to some, but I'll ask anyway. :rolleyes2

Since we are visiting from abroad, I wanted to make use of the opportunity and do some minor shopping at Walmart (or maybe a nearby mall) as well.
Would you recommend using public transportation (Lynx Bus) from DTD? I would use that on our way to Walmart and maybe a taxi on our way back to DTD. A taxi both ways would probably cost us too much to make it worth the trip.

TIA for your opinions. :)

Finally got a chance to upload some of the smoke pics from the other day.

Just did the first shot I took and the last as well as a helicopter shot.

These pics are much better than the one on the news site that I googled after you all mentioned it the day it happened! Thanks for taking the time to upload them!

Haha:rotfl: De8212 Reporting from Disney World :mic:

Thanks. I was really bored waiting for a bus so I had time. :lmao: Even took a video. :lmao:

Would it be best to make requests upon online check-in then? Because you can check-in online 10 days prior to arrival, right? Any chance of the request being honored at that point? I don't know how that works, or even if there is a field to enter requests at online check in.

Please help me decide on a room request (standard view!)...

1. I want the quietest area possible. If a longer walk to a pool or the bus stop earns me some quiet, I'm ok with that!

2. We're driving, and using the car several days, so maybe closest to a parking lot? But still quiet?

3. We'll only be using the food court a time or two, so I don't care about proximity to it.

4. The 50's lake view appeals to me, but it's hard to tell on the map how long a walk this is to the parking area. Also, not sure if we'll even be in our room at 9pm at any given night to see the fireworks, so this might be useless to us.

Did I mention quiet? :)

I looked at the map, and it's very helpful! Just hard to choose not having been there in person. Thanks.

We stayed in the 50's rooms, in the 1000 building on the 4th floor. It was awesome! We were very close to the building, but because we were on the 4th floor there wasn't much noise from people walking by. We were next to the stairs, so getting down them wasn't hard, but I did take the elevators coming back up at night! :) It's a close walk to the pin and flower pools too. At night you could see the high fireworks from at least two of the parks!
ETA- This lot was also close to parking. We drove down one day and stayed at a regular hotel that night, and checked in early the next day to go ahead and get our tickets. Since we got there around 9am, people were already starting to leave so we were able to get a decent parking spot, not that I moved my car until the day we left!

Hi, everyone! I am just impatiently awaiting our next POP trip this September and I thought of a great CM memory that happened there a few years ago. I figured we are all here to discuss (and hopefully brag on) POP and I am missing WDW a lot today so I thought I would share :goodvibes

DH and I have been going to WDW at least once a year since we honeymooned there in 2003. We always buy one pin every year and we try to have it "symbolize" that trip somehow (for instance, we got a 'Christmas 2005' pin the first time we went in the month of December). In 2007, we didn't think we could afford to go to WDW but a very kind man from our church owns a timeshare at Bonnet Creek and offered us a week for free as long as we could go on three week's notice. We basically ate PB & J the next three weeks to save the money to go. We took our food to the parks and agreed we would buy no souvenirs so that we could stay on budget. A trip at WDW with no frills is still a trip to WDW, right? Anyway, on our 2008 5th Anniversary trip (and last trip before becoming parents, though we didn't know it at the time), DH commented on how he really wished that we would have bought some kind of pin since we had one for all our other trips. I suggested that he try and pin trade with someone. After a few days of unsuccessfully finding someone to trade with, we were eating in the food court at POP and he asked a CM if he could possibly trade with her and he told her why. She didn't have anything that said 2007 or really seemed to represent that trip but she asked what our names were and what room we were in. We didn't think anything more of it. A few days passed and when we returned to the room, we had a phone message telling us to please come pick up our gift in the Everything Pop Store. DH told them we hadn't bought anything but they insisted we did. When we went to pick it up, it was a 2007 pin with Mickey's head on it. The CM had left us a nice note saying that she "Hoped this would complete our collection and add to the many more to come!" We were so appreciative of her kindness to go above and beyond to make our little pin collection complete!

Thanks for letting me share our pixie dust! We can't wait to be back at POP in 3.5 months!
