Pop Century Rooms & Bathrooms Question

Hi there -

We are going in October and travelling with 2 grandmas. We are hoping to get 2 rooms on the bottom floor. One grandma has bad arthritis, the other a bad knee on stairs.

I know the last time we stayed "on property" was in '96 at CBR. I disliked our room so much that it has taken us almost 10 years to think about staying on-site again! We had a grungy shower that I hated. Turns out it was supposed to be a disabled room which is why it was just a concrete floor with a drain!

Anyway... Does anyone know if the showers in the disabled rooms at POP are the "walk-in" kind and if so could we get a room for us next to them with a normal shower/tub?

Thanks :)

This is my first attempt at including a link so if it doesn't work...sorry.

Anyway, there are pics of the handicapped accessible rooms on allearsnet.com The link I attempted here is of the shower. You can go to the allears site and look under accomodations, pop century, and photos and check out others too.

I believe all the accessible rooms are king sized beds, but you may need to confirm that. I don't know about them adjoining standard rooms. I'm sure you can call the resort directly and ask if you don't get the info from someone on the boards.

sorry you had a bad experience in the past. I've stayed at multiple on-site resorts, and I have been the LEAST happy at CBR too. I hope you have a good stay this time! :earboy2:

Pop Century has elevators, so you don't necessarily need to be on the 1st floor. We went with my MIL who cannot do stairs and everything was fine. We had adjoining rooms, our room had two queen? beds and the connecting room was a handicapped accessible room. It was a king bed with the walk in showever. The other nice thing about this room is by the tv there was already a small refrigerator.

Thanks guys! That shower looks pretty nice - sure beats the one we had a CBR which was just a scratchy concrete floor!

Thanks too for letting me know there are handicap accessible rooms on upper floors - I just assumed they'd all be on the first :)

Make sure when you book your room you get directed to special guest services. i made a ressie at PoP last yr and requested a handicapped room for my son and when we got to POP they never had it on record. Call SPeacial Guest Services yourself to make sure its on the reservation or youmay end up withough the handicapped room.
