Pop Century Room Renovations

My family and I have a reservation for 3/10-3/16 for a standard room and received the email yesterday afternoon about the construction with no specific time period given. For our stay will they still be doing the gift cards for no mouse keeping through our stay or has this already ended?
I believe the gifts cards for doing without housekeeping are ‘permanent’, until they change it. If they change it. It is no longer a trial period.

We are checking into Pop in about 3 weeks, and I was also wondering if they were doing away with the $10/night for declining mousekeeping, in lieu of the news that the do not disturb signs are being replaced and that housekeeping will be visiting rooms at least once a day to remove trash....

I think the option will remain and will probably become even more popular with a Housekeeper now guaranteed to enter the room each day(makes it easier to have trash removed, towels replenished, etc.):)

Where did you hear about the guarantee that someone will enter a room each day to remove trash, etc? I subscribe to a number of Disney newsletters, blogs etc and this is the first I’ve heard of this.

This the first I've heard of this also. Like you, I subscribe a few Disney newsletters and blogs and haven't read any mention of this until now. Can someone please elaborate? We'd like to know more.

Several posts about it. I believe it all stems from an email sent to DVC members, and then it has grown from there.

Interesting. I’ll look for more.

The thing I’m thinking is that Pop is not a DVC resort and, we are offered a gift card for foregoing housekeeping.

Personally I can’t see them entering a room daily to remove trash if I’ve specifically requested no mousekeeping and been paid an incentive when doing so.

Haven't asked in a few months. I'll keep trying. Anyone stayed in a wheelchair accessible room yet? Confirm/refute conclusively if the King/Double HA family options are staying or going?

When Housekeeping comes to the room for the new "security check" that would be a convenient time to hand them your trash if you have opted out of Housekeeping and also to ask for more towels if needed.:)

Hi, just found out I was assigned a room in building 6 in the 70s section. Building 6 has status “some rooms open, still being renovated”. Does anyone know if, when a Pop Century building is still under renovation, the rooms are either closed for renovation or renovated? In other words, could there be non-renovated rooms open in building 6?

This is purely a guess but I believe all rooms in building 6 that are open are newly refurbished rooms. Please let us know if you find out differently.

We are arriving at Pop on February 1st and I haven't made any room requests yet. We have a standard room. If we want the 70s buildings and connecting rooms AND refurbished rooms, are we safe to only need to ask for the first two requests? Are there even connecting standard rooms in the 70s buildings?

Yes. Every. Single. Building. at Pop has connecting rooms.
Yes, there are Standard connecting rooms.
Your requests are simply that and should be presented in order of importance.

I don't know if anyone has posted the list of daily work on the refurb buildings, so I snapped this. We were there Dec. 13 - 19. Sorry for the fuzziness -- lots of zoom from where I was standing. (I was good and didn't go past the signs.)

It goes through Day 1 to Day 23 for what's happening, so for building 6, this room is finished and tomorrow all contractors finish their punch on the job, and then it should be turned back to the resort Thursday, December 28.

We just got back from the Pop Century. We wanted to stay at a moderate but couldn't fit it into our budget. To be honest, we were not happy going to the PC. That all changed when we saw our refurbished room (in the 80's). A much nicer room than the old styled room. Much more modern. Lots of great storage, nice finishes and fixtures. And, the large LED-HD TV was great!
One small warning: Be careful when folded up the bed. I can see a child (or adult) getting their fingers pinched between the bed and frame.

Does anyone have any strong suggestions/opinions on which section/area of POP to request if you want to be close to Classic Hall & the bus stops? I would like to be in a renovated section & keep the resort walking to a minimum for my mom this trip. How are the first floor rooms?

Sitting by the Hippy pool now. Building 5 has one wing under construction. Another is being prepared for tear down. The other wing is open to guests. A sports tourney is checking in today. Building six is partically open to guests. I'm in a refurbed room. The floor is hard to keep clean and you can see debris. Maid service has been minimal. I did not opt out, so I'm a little disappointed. I needed to call for more shampoo and towels, which was brought promptly after I called. Magic bands needed to be reprogrammed multiple times, which I've never run into before. That gets to be irritating and time consuming. On a positive note, the weather has been great.

First things first, lucky you :) I am sitting at my desk, lol! Sorry about those magicband troubles, no fun at all. Is Building 5 the 50's section, Building 6, the 60's?
