Pop Century-Preferred room question

I've noticed that several of you prefer "higher" rooms. Is that for the view? Or is that because it is more quiet?

We were there in Sept and paid for a Preferred room (mom was in a scooter) and got 1st floor 60's right near the kiddy pool. This was great - it was really close (I thought) convenient to pool, buses, and food court and was relatively quiet. The next time we go without mom not sure I would pay for preferred but would definitely request the 60's, 80's or 90's area and 1st floor. Although I did prefer the laundry facilities in the 50's area. Like someone said not a huge difference in any room distance compared to what you have already walked at the parks LOL.

 We've been twice in 50's bldg 2 (Jukebox), twice in bldg 3 (Tramp-same room as another poster 3435 and 3413 another stay) and bldg 5, facing the pool. We've always had a 4th floor and had a lake/IllumiNations view 3 times.

We liked all 5 locations- bldg 2 was the farthest, but closer than every room we've had at GF, Poly, CR, BC, and AKL, and bldg 5 was the closest - we were upgraded to pref at check-in. It was during a tropical storm and was very nice to be 2 mins from the food court - but we missed the quiet lake view and seeing IllumiNations and Wishes from our window (Wishes in the distance, top of IllumiNations).

Be sure to add your requests when making your reservation, not more than 3...for instance we would request:

1. 4th floor
2. IllumiNations view
3. bldg 3

Have a great trip!! :goodvibes

We chose a preferred room when we went last January. We chose it because with a one year old and two year old we wanted to get off the bus and be as close to our room as possible. The location worked out nice. We had the deluxe dining so never used the dining hall for meals but it was close if we needed to refill our mugs. We like it and next time we go we will still probably get the preferred room because for us it worked out nice. However I will say I will try to request a ground floor because we were on the third floor and the whole week we were there the elevators stunk. Someone must have thrown up in it from what the elevator smelled like:eek:. We kept thinking maybe we should walk up the stairs but with little kids and a double stroller we couldn't carry all of it up and down the stairs to get to the third floor with just the two of us.

IMO, it is quieter....but I would prefer to be on either the ground or second floor....sometimes it's closer/easier access to your room if you use the stairs. I have joint problems and walking up one flight is do-able but not up to the 4th floor. When we were at POP last year our room was on the 4th floor 2 rooms away from the end...so we had to walk past the stairs to get to the elevator. I will say that being that far down does make it quiet...you only have 2 neighbours walking past. That trip only twice were we aware of noise outside. We were there for 2 weeks.

:rotfl2:...we had a room with the connecting door and one morning, rather early, the people in that other room were being REALLY loud and yelling at their kids...it was our 'sleep in day'....well DH got up to use the washroom and tripped on the carpet...he put out his hand to stop himself and banged into the connecting door....the people next door were instantly silent.....I guess they thought we were complaining. :rotfl:

What happens if they put you in a standard room, but you paid for preferred? I requested a lake view 60s room, it turns out it's standard (I think)

I'm less than 1 week out. Will they reimburse or credit me somehow?

Most likely you will be given a room in the category you reserved and paid for, rather than where you requested. Red quests are never guaranteed. So no, no refund, credit, compensation.

We did preferred and literally walked out from the registration area, past the bar ( on the right side) and had a room overlooking that pool.
Great location. Almost positive I booked preferred but last few visits we have been UPgraded room wise every time! Talk about pixie dusted.. we have beenCoated in it lol
very very lucky indeed!

Where is the area where you could make request? I saw nothing when we made our reservation and would really like a King bed.
