Hi! We're going to WDW (DH, me, 8,9 and 11 year old kids) January 24-31. We're so excited.

The AP watch is driving me crazy. Currently, we have reservations..at AKL and YC..switching in the middle IF we get AP rates.

Otherwise, we're trying to decide between Pop Century(2 rooms)or POR. Last time, we went we stayed at the Dolphin with the GREAT teacher rate so location was great. I'm worried about size and 1 bathroom, but then I'm worried about how busy Pop Century will be. I had read at least 80%. With 2800 rooms, that is 2000 worth of families. Ugh! So, do we stay at POR (one room) or Pop with 2 rooms?

I love POR. It is my favorite moderate so I don't think you could go wrong there. However, since you have three children with you I would say that having 2 rooms at PC and two bathrooms would be a big plus and would probably make your vacation more enjoyable. Plus you would be staying in a new resort. I guess even as much as I love POR I would choose 2 rooms at PC if I had three children with me. Either way though you will have a great trip!! Good luck deciding!!:Pinkbounc

We too had ressies at POR for Jan. (DH, me, dd10, dd8 and ds7) After thinking long and hard about it, we decided two bathrooms would be well worth the extra $18 (TOTAL) for our vacation and are staying at PC. We are very excited! Everyone will have their own bed, Dad can stay up late and click through the channels and not bother the ones sleeping, mostly. We are excited to be staying at a new resort. We've stayed at all the All Stars, and are anxious to see PC.

Good luck with your decision.

Do you think the Pop Century will be crazy..being new and at 80% capacity?

I would say it would possibly be pretty busy. But we have been at the All Stars when it was busy too- once with the cheerleaders- and it was manageable. I don't think that would be a reason to not go to Pop. I am betting they will be prepared for the number of people, it being new and wanting to make a good impression and all.

I guess you could say I'm biased... LOL

One thing to remember with Pop Century... YES, it will be busy. But facilities are designed to accomodate the crowds. We have the largest Front Desk on property, with 30 total stations. (We're so big, we can do the WAVE!) We've got a HUGE food court (with tasty food, too!) 3 different pools, plus a kiddie pool and a water jet area. An arcade, hop scotch, twister, dancing in the lobby... Something tells me they don't do the Hustle at Port Orleans. LOL

(Can you tell Im psyched for opening???)

Can't wait to see ya there Tyler. We will be there opening day!!!!WAHOO!!!!!!!!:earseek: :earseek:

Tyler,
Okay, Now I am so Psyched! I can't wait !!! Dancing in the lobby,
my kids will love it!!!!!!

Dh and I have been going back and forth between these two resorts for our Jan stay (2 nights). PC finally won- it's new, one bus stop, no sharing buses, we probably will not use the pool, and it's less $$$.

I think with three kids you need the space. We took my niece and nephew for a weekend last year and got two rooms at the AS.

Turst me, it will work out great. You and DH will have your own room, there is all the extra drawer and hanging space and it gives the kids a little independence (as much as each can handle for their age). Get them their mugs and room keys and they will be so happy and proud to be in their own "place".

I've stayed at POR with a family of 5, 3 kids, and we have no problems. It's our favorite resort! We're really into the parks, so the only time we're in the room is to change/get dressed/shower/sleep! The space never bothered us. We even went last year when I was 17, my brother was 14, and my sister was 11. No issues with space. The sinks are outside the shower/toilet area, so getting ready wasn't an issue.

One thing I would like to add for those with two rooms at Pop Century...

Disney found out that getting two value rooms was a POPULAR option. So, when they designed Pop Century, they made it so that 50% of our rooms are connecting rooms. So it should most likely be no problem to get two rooms that connect.

Tyler,
Just wanted to tell you how much we appreciate you.
You are always answering everyones questions.
We check into POP on Dec. 17th, and I am going to look you up!
My kids are sooooo ready to do the twist in the lobby!

Tyler,
So 50% are connecting? That's why when I called they said guaranteed connecting rooms for families? That is so COOL! I just called and got AP rates this a.m. Our trip is coming together so nicely!! Can't wait!

I am staying at WL for my trip to 1/23 to 1/27. I thought about switching to PC but I had one concern.

I heard several people say that the cheerleaders etc., say at the All Stars value resort. I dont want to subject my nephews to that.
I remember being a teenager. UGH..

Does anyone know how bad it gets there, when the cheerleaders and all those teenagers are running around.

All large groups such as Cheerleaders, Pop Warner, etc etc, will be going to the All-Stars and NOT Pop Century. The reason being is that the All-Stars has a special large group check-in & luggage facility that can handle these folks... Pop Century does not.

If anything Pop Century might recieve the overflow that won't fit at the All-Stars, and would normally flow into a moderate.

So I booked a room for my upcoming trip this afternoon at PC. How can I make sure that we don't get a connecting room? Because I really don't want that, as they can tend to be louder then non-connecting rooms.

Also, I got standard. Should I request a specific building or floor? Thanks Tyler, I just started reading this thread but I wanted to ask a quick question.

The connecting rooms do have double doors, and are pretty heavy. However, 50% of our rooms are NOT connecting, so you shouldn't have any problems with that. Just make sure to let the host/hostess know your preference when checking in! :)

Traci -

Last year we stayed in a room (in Movies) with adjoining doors and one of them was always open. Even with just one door shut, there was hardly any noise. (and that room had an adult, teen and 5 year old)

I was surprised..........but those doors are very heavy!

Thanks guys, for you're help. Any answer to the building, floor question Tyler? Also, if I wanted to write a letter to Disney for some good service I received, who would I write that letter to? An address or person would help. Thanks so much for all your help.
