Pop Century is sold out for my dates!!

Thanks for posting this. I called back this morning and was able to add September 1 to my reservation. Still couldn't get August 31, but I'm sure it will open up later.:wizard:

That is great!! Another day on the free DDP!! Hoping you get all of the days you need! :goodvibes

We need to talk, I have a few questions about Long Island. I'll have to send you a PM.:thumbsup2

Sure, send me a pm! I will try to help, with any questions you may have. :)

never stayed at a Value before, but I'm trying to do this trip inexpensively. Is Pop better than the other Values? Picked it on a whim. Why do you love it?

Same here, we are trying it because we have heard and read really good things about it. Look for the POP Thread on Resorts it goes on and on!;)

I called and spoke with a CM at 7:00 am and was told that PC, ASMu and ASMo were sold out in both preferred and reg. rooms from Sept. 22 through Sept. 30th. I then got a huge lecture from Ephraim the CM about all of these people booking ahead of time which ruins it for any free dining at Pop because only 10% of rooms are held for this special. :confused3 I took ASSp and called back a few minutes later and got ASMu instead. I hope maybe I can call back in a few days and get a preferred room for my daughter who has some motor issues.

Good luck to everyone! I hope everyone gets the room and dining special they want.

Guess I am one of those as well, but we were going in Sept (8th-21st) and were willing to pay for dining. When it was announce just changed to free dining. Cannot believe that a CM would even say this to you.

I don't usually post over here, but I read faithfully. I just wanted to let everyone know that I JUST switched from All Star Sports to Pop Century for September 20-25! Thank you DIS!

I picked pop on a whim last year and was disappointed when I couldn't get it this time around. The theming is great! (who woudlnt' want to be around a giant can of play-doh?). They also dont' share busses with any other resorts (which didn't matter for us because we had a rental car).

Finally..... frozen cokes for the refillable mugs! Being able to have all the frozen cokes I wanted all week was awesome :D

Oh, there's also more pools at the pop than at the all star resorts. I believe they each have 2 while pop has 3. Just a hint though.. the "quiet" pools...not so quiet.. there were people yelling out there till 2am the first night we were there so we switched our pool view room to parking lot view... MUCH quieter :)

Can you tell I'm excited????

Was able to modify my aug 30th-sept 6th reservation from Asmu to POP!!

I just checked the website this morning (like everyday, multiple times a day since last Thursday) and lo and behold....Pop appeared as having availability! Called and was able to switch!

So everyone looking to switch, like many posters have already mentioned, don't give up, you'll get lucky sooner or later.

Yes, I saw that this morning too. Lots of Movies ressies available also. I was checking dates for others and Pop and/or Movies would show up. Just recently nothing was showing up.

PARTY AT THE POP :dance3: END OF SEPTEMBER.. If you are interested to plan together and meet some other Diser's check out the link in my signature... YAHOOOOOOOOO !!!

I have been looking online for a friend and was able to get a ressie at the end of Sept. for her family for Pop yesterday. After playing around with dates it seemed that alot was available. Just for kicks I checked the beginning of the promo and there was availability there also. I prefer Pop for two silly reasons....one...the curtains overlap and you don't get that light gap, and two...the frozen cokes and blue icees. That said, to me the food court at the All Stars is MUCH better with more variety plus you can visit all three easily. My kids have had various options at Pop and haven't liked any of it except for breakfast...ugh. My friends kids are younger though and probably will be happy with a chicken nugget. Anyone who is worried about any of the AllStars really has nothing to worry about since there's something positive and appealing and different about every resort.---Kathy

Just spoke to Brendan at CRO. What a nice guy! He was so honest, and told me that what is true for them one day may not be true the next, and he's been proven wrong so many times with reguard to reservations and how they work. He said he is not having any trouble finding value resorts, even POP availability for dates leading up to the 15th of September, but does have some trouble after that. Of course I am asking for 2 solid weeks, and he has nothing for me at my choice of resorts, but he was able to find 5 and 6 day stretches at POP, and all other All Star resorts. He did say that there was no way of knowing if cancelled rooms went back into the FD pool, or if they reverted to regular room rates. It was nice to have a CM who said, "You know, they just don't tell us much, and any definative answer I gave would just be proven wrong tomorrow"
So, keep trying everyone. :thumbsup2

Ladybugsy, I just went to disneyworld.com and punched in POP for 9/22-9/29 and it had preferred and standard rooms. It changes everyday.

We were booked at ASMu with free dining for September 22-29 and I called this morning around 8 am and Pop Century - Standard Room was available. :dance3: Keep calling!!

I'm really in a pickle...lol. Not sure if I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but here goes again. I am travelling with my quadrapalegic uncle, and disabled aunt who will both be using ECVs. I need POP because I don't want to have to use a resort that shares busses with 2 ECVs...the looks we get now are bad enough:scared1: I have to book 2 rooms, for 14 nights, connecting, and hopefully at POP. I have 2 now at Coronado Springs, but we just opened a new business, and I really would rather save a thousand dollars and stay at POP.
My dates are September 8-22. Or, 7-21st. If YOU were ME....would you try to book one room at a time, for the entire stay, knowing I may not get the second room...OR...wait till I can book both rooms....OR.....book 2 rooms for part of the stay, then hope the rest would come available later?
I really don't know which route to take:confused3

oh my goodness! This sounds complicated! Two rooms for 2 weeks at the pop? It's possible, but it doesn't sound very likely. From what I'm hearing/seeing it sounds like it's really difficult to get any rooms there, we couldn't at all for our dates! If you switch to Pop you may not get free dining, and that would probably cost you alot more than the $1000 for the updated room!

I guess all I can say is call reservations and see how many days in your block they have open. Although, if you're not opposed to another value there's still lots open at ASMusic and ASSports, you might be able to get 2 rooms there. Also consider that ASMusic has the family suites now!

As far as the busses, I didn't find a huge crowd waiting for them last Sept, and although it's nice of you to not want to put 2 ECVs on a bus, you have just as much right to use them as everyone else! If you're really worried, call the front desk while you're getting ready to leave in the morning and let them know that you'll be boarding with 2 ECVs in about x minutes/hours. That way they can make sure there's room for you.

Also I read in another thread that the rooms at Pop were difficult for ECVs to navigate if you get a regular one. Something about one of the beds being too close to the door or something...

All I can do is hope at this point...lol. It would actually be 2000 dollars as my aunt and uncle would have to pay just about as much as my family of 5 for their room alone. Sigh. We have been at POP 3 other times, and really enjoy it. With my aunt and uncle, too. They always go with us...I'm the only one who will take them...lol. I was looking forward to trying something new...CSR to be exact, but we hardly spend any time in the rooms, so I figured we'd just go back to what we know and love.

I would suggest booking at As sports. This will be the first out of the three resorts to be picked up going to the parks so if you had to chose out of the three all stars I would say this. At least you wont get so many stares going to the parks. Then you can keep checking for pop to open up everyday.

Here is a preview of what happened last year! An interesting thread to read...........

We booked an accessible room at Pop with the bounceback offer ( I am in a power wheelchair) Aug 31-Sept 14 ( two weeks) last fall for three adults/one infant. As far as transportation goes, we stayed the first two years with free dining at ASMovies and last year at Pop. Pop was MUCH worse- there were long w/c lines, lots of people in ECV's and we waited quite a bit. At ASMovies, it wasn't nearly as challenging. Of course you never know who will be s/a your resort at the same time who also needs a lift bus and tie downs. I don't mind waiting for someone else either but I feel for my service dog who has to lay in the sun and feel the pavement heat. Just as an FYI the beds at ASMusic and ASSports are much more comfortable as they are the new pillow top type and the rooms there are gorgeous. We stayed one night at ASSports last month for an event and they now have special tables for the accessible rooms where you can roll right under- I was really impressed. So there really isn't a worse location or a better location and each resort has something to be said for itself. The special activities and pool movies/bingo at ASMusic are lots of fun and create a wonderful atmosphere to return to after a park visit. This year I was particularly glad to have the option to book BB due to my special needs and wanting the 14 nights/needing a value resort for this trip. Just remember that seeing availability online (until the promo comes out) doesn't mean there's room availability with the promo.---Kathy
