disneyjunkie, my understanding is that you have until midnight of the day that you check in to show them your AP or the room rate will go back to the rack rate. What people have reported is that sometimes they are asked for their AP at check-in and at other times they are not. That some CM's accept seeing the AP voucher and not the activated AP and some don't. If they ask you, all you have to do is go back to the desk at some point with your AP and show it to them to make sure you get the AP rate for the room.

I wouldn't worry about getting it activated before you show up at the hotel if it is going to be a hassle. I would check-in and if they ask for your AP tell them that you will stop back with it after you either buy it or get your voucher activated and I don't think you are going to have any problem at all. I like to get my AP activated at Downtown Disney Guest Services, mostly because then I don't have to wait in line at the theme parks and if I am driving to the theme park, don't have to pay parking (AP holders have free theme park parking) and then go through the hassle of getting the parking money back at Guest Services(smile).

Thanks, that helps a lot. We're staying off site the first night; only $27 for Magic Castle. I'm planning to spend some time at DTD that first night. When I booked I asked the CM if I could activate the AP at DTD so I'd have when I check into PC the next morning. He told it could only be activated at one of the major parks.

Glad to know my first plan will work.

One more thing I want to add.
When driving back from the MK at 1:00 am there were not any PC signs. The only reason I found the place was because I remembered the Sports Complex being near PC. So I got off at the exit marked Sports Complex. PC was not on the sign. My mother drove separate from me and did not know about the Sports Complex so she was driving round and round, lost at 1:00am

I have a few questions about Pop Century that I hope you can address, please.

1- What buildings are smoking ones?
2- Will the King rooms have a tub & shower or shower only?
3- Where do they place couples only at?

DH and I will be there in September for our first honeymoon trip (after 21 yrs of marriage) without our daughter. Therefore, to us this is going to be a big trip! This will be our third trip to WDW.

Thank you so much for your help. I have asked these questions on other boards but after 3 weeks, I still have no answers.

DH and I are so excited that for dd first trip to WDW we will be staying at Pop Century!!! She will be almost 14 months old then and I think she will enjoy the larger than life icons and bright colors. I have a couple of questions and I hope I am not repeating ones that have been previously asked.

1) Are non potty trained children restricted to the kiddie pool only? We will be bringing swim diapers for her and were hoping she could enjoy the big pool with us. At our neighborhood pool she is restricted to the kid's pool only.

2) We will need a crib for the room. Are Pop Century's cribs the Pack n Plays? I am hoping the answer the yes because she is very used to that kind of crib.

3) We plan to drive to the parks since we will be lugging around a stroller and know they are a pain to bring on the buses. What building is closest to a large parking lot?

4) Since we will have a baby in a crib, DH and I, should/could we request a king room?

Angela - sorry no one has answered your questions yet. This is a good thread to get them answered. I'll do my best to help, however my trip to POP is still 35 days away, my info will only be from what I have read here on the DIS.

1. I don't think there is/are designated "smoking" buildings. I believe that there will be smoking rooms in all the buildings throughout the resort. So, it really just depends on which building you want to stay in.

2. I also believe that you can get a king room with either a tub combo or a shower only. But I think the king room with shower only are the accessible rooms. I could be wrong. If you prefer either, I would have them note it on your ressies.

3. Again, there is not an area/building just for Couples Only. I would ask for a quiet area and have it noted on my ressies.

Disneylvr - I can answer a few of your questions based on our last trip over to the WL.

1. We put our almost two year old in swim diapers and let her play in the big pool with our older children. We never had a problem with the staff or others telling us she wasn't allowed to be there with the swim diapers on.

2. I believe that the pack and plays are the norm at all the resorts. That's what we had at the WL. I think you can ask for a regular crib, but the POP may not have them.

3. Unsure about the building near a parking lot. Somewhere on the FAQ thread there are arial views but if I am not mistaken, the 80's, 90's and 50's buildings are close to the parking lots.

4. I think I would ask for a king room with the pack and play. That way the room will not be as cluttered with a bed you won't use. That's just my opinion.

Things seem to be a bit more under control now, and Jan 5th-1th will be slowing down slightly. Handicapped parking should be fine at that time.

As for where I am, my role is "Front Office" which includes back office, runner, front desk, guest services and luggage assistance. For the next month, I can usually be found at the latter, which will allow me to be more accessible to everyone!

There are no designated buildings. Smoking rooms are in blocks, scattered around the resort.

There are approximately 140 king rooms within Pop Century. About 80 are accessible rooms (meaning shower only) and 60 are standard tub/shower combo. (approx numbers, the exact numbers of the room mix are listed on the first page of the Far Out FAQ)

There is no "couples only" section.

I believe as long as she has swim diapers, she should be fine, but I could be mistaken on that. I would also like to point out that Pop Century is the first resort to feature a Pop Jet pool area. (you know, the popping water fountains at Epcot and Downtown Disney)... It seems to be a VERY popular place for kids.

Yes, I believe they are pack 'n plays. Housekeeping can get them for you.

Building 1, 2, 7,8 ,9, 10 will be the closest to parking lots. People staying in building 6 (70's A, room 6xxx) often find that parking in the 80's lot is easier and closer.

If you wish, a standard king room will give you more space. However, keep in mind, the request cannot always be granted.

One more question about the smoking rooms, Are there any in the 70's building? That is where we would like to stay at.

When we stayed at All Star Movies last year we requested to stay in the Toy Story and they were non-smoking, so we moved to the Mighty Ducks.

As far as I know, we do not have them. With the exception of a King room, I'm not sure if there would be room.
