Will the Pop Century for open by April 2004? Also any word on how it will compare to the All-Stars? I love the food courts and bus service at the All Stars and don't want to be disappointed. Are there any maps available yet for Pop Century? I want to know which building to request when I call for a reservation. Thanks!

We are going to the Pop Century the third week of April (our school system's vacation and regular season rates at the resorts). I have the room booked, but according to CRO - as of right now they are not offering any AAA discounts. I sent a msg to Guest Services asking why a value resort (even though it is new), is not offering AAA discounts even though ALL other resorts are. I will post when I get an answer.

I have also asked Guest Services a few times for info on the Pop Century. They said there really isn't anything to send out. I do know from these boards, that the Pop Century is opening in December (although not all of the bldgs are ready for opening). We are staying in the Classic Years side.

The other day, some one on these boards, posted a link to a map. It was just too small to read. The 2003 Passporter guide book has a map (I went to my local Borders and looked at the map). It will be impressive when it is done. I have read that the amenities will be very similar to the other value resorts.

Here is a link someone posted with construction pictures.

Deb Wills site also has limited info. http://wdwig.com/faq_pop.htm

I am anxiously awaiting trip reports from the December groups. Although I would love to stay in a new resort, I will change my reservation to get a room discount (we are paying $121 - includes tax). Very high in my opinion for a value resort.

Have fun planning.

Hi momoftwins-

I just got off the phone with CRO and got the same info as you about no AAA rates - only available at All-Stars :( I'll be there the same week as you. I'm a teacher here in MA, so I don't get much choice as to when I go to WDW. I got the same rate of $121 incl. tax. This breaks down to $109 per night which is the "peak" season rate since my stay will begin April 16th which is still peak season. I was told in order to get the "regular" season rate of $99, I would need to make 2 reservations (the 2nd beginning 4/18 when reg. season begins). I don't think I want to hassle of having to check-out and then check-in again.

The woman from CRO did tell me that the preferred rooms are in the 1960's section, so if it is set up like the All-Stars, I would assume that the 1960's building is closest to everything (main pool, food court, buses). Since I didn't book a preferred room, I wish I knew what building are 2nd closest so I can put in a request.

Oh well, I am so excited to finally have my ressie! Now I just need to work on airfare... Did you book yours yet?

Pop Century will open mid-December this year, with 2880 rooms on line (phase 1). No word on when Phase 2 will go into construction (the buildings are constructed, but are just hollow shells). The building closest to the main building will be the 60's. You'll find that this resort combines all the best of the All Stars with some VERY nice improvements (food courts seem larger, more drink stations, seperate bar/specialty drinks area, larger retail shop, MASSIVE arcade...like 5000 sq ft massive). It's coming along very nicely and will be flawless by the time it opens.

Jen, I will book thru Southwest that flys out of Providence. I wouldn't expect our dates to open until later this year. For me, the airport is only about 20 min away. Southwest, I believe, has the only non-stop left at TF Green Airport for Orlando.

I know some people think of Southwest as a cattle call, but if you get to the airport early to get your letter to board, I have never had a problem. We have 7 yr old twins. This is our school vacation also. I know we could go in the summer, but too hot! Although we went the same time as you did last time, and boy was it hot, crowded, and humid. I am hoping we will see a little bit of a smaller crowd base.

Pete, thanks for your reply. I am very excited about this new resort. If anyone has any other pictures, or can scan the page of their Passporter, I know it would be appreciated.

Have a great Disney night!

Yep, December 14th they open the Pop! I promise to break in the room gently. ;) Mickey

I'm in Ashland, MA so it's probably the same distance from my house to Green or Logan. I'm just afraid to wait until Southwest begins booking for April. Knowing my luck, I'll miss the great rates and end up paying more... although a nonstop flight is tempting. The only nonstops out of Logan are already well over $400.

I just booked the Pop Century, preferred room, for January 16-19. Due to it's still being Value Season, we got it for $69 a night, with $10 extra for an extra adult. 3 nights was $266. This is the AAA rate we were quoted. We also managed to get airfare from Philadelphia to Orlando for 201.50 pp! I am so excited!!!:Pinkbounc I am surprising my 6 yo DD with this weekend trip and our next door neighbor and her mother are going, too! I'm going to try not to tell her, and when we get home from school say we have to go somewhere and go! We'll see how long I can last! Wish me luck! Thanks for the links to pics of PC, momoftwins, I can't wait to see them. I will be watching in Dec. for reviews/ pics of anyone's trip there.

Yippee!!!!!!
