My boyfriend and I are going to WDW for the first time the first week of June. On our last day, we are going to DS and were planning on taking a very late flight back home after seeing Fantasmic! I was wondering...say our flight is at midnight, will Pop charge us another night for picking up our luggage and leaving?

Thanks so much!

check out at 11 am - but let luggage service kept your luggage until you are ready to leave (you are using DME right?)

If we can get a flight on the airlines.

American, Continental, Delta/Song, JetBlue, Northwest and United, right?

It says we have to be at the resort to be picked up to go to the airport 2 hours and 45 minutes before our flight. If we want to stay for fantasmic, we will need to get a flight in the early morning (2 AM-ish).

Does the shuttle service run that late or should we just call a cab and be able to leave at midnight or so?

We are going to try to use DME upon arrival, but I am afraid it will cause complications for our departure.

Does a cab sound more doable?

Thanks.

the airlines doesn't matter - DME works with all airlines.

the problem will be going back - you must check in your airline and take your own luggage. DME can't do that for you. unless you are using one of the authorize airlines.

DME will take you back too - but you would be leaving at 11 pm - which is fine because you will need more time.

I just read that you can grab your luggage at luggage claim and still get on the DME. I really didn't know too much about this service! hehe.

That sounds easier as we will be staying at the hotel for our first afternoon anyway, we might as well unpack.

So for our departure, with checking in our own luggage, the last bus is at 11 pm? That sounds rather doable if we pack earlier that day before going to DS.

And if we are handling our own luggage, we can fly Southwest both ways?

Am I getting all of this right?

Thanks so much!

I have flown Southwest - not a problem using DME.

Disney will pick up your luggage from the airport and deliver to your hotel.

it is coming back that you must get your luggage and check in to the airlines yourself. with southwest you definitely need that 3 hours. remember the day before you leave to get a boarding pass. the DME area will do this for you too.

heck with southwest I like to be there sooner. if the plane is ready and everyone is aboard they will leave EARLY.

Great, thanks.

So in the morning before we leave for DS, we check out and leave our luggage with the bell hop to put away until we leave for our flight home?

yes - but Pop doesn't have bell hops - they just call it luggage service.

The last flights out of MCO are at around 11:00pm-ish. First am flights resume about 6:30-ish.

Important to know: Disney Magic Express does not do the luggage check in with every airline. Airtran is one that I know doesn't do it. We flew Delta and were able to check all our luggage at 6:00 am next to Classic Hall (POP), then they put my carry on and laptop away for me.

At the end of a great day at Epcot, we picked up the carry on and the laptop, boarded a coach to MCO and off we went. Luggage arrived just as it was supposed to in Atlanta without a hitch.

One additional note: Cast Member Heather saw that my four-year-old was tuckered out and brought her a blanket and pillow while we waited for our Magic Express coach to leave.

:yay:

Everyone on every airline staying at every Disney owned-and-operated resort can use DME. When you arrive at MCO, EVERYONE can get their luggage automatically delivered to their resort room -- airline doesn't matter.

On the way out of Dodge, everyone is entitled to the DME bus ride, but only people using a "participating airline" can use the related-but-separate service called Resort Airline Check-in (RAC). People who can use RAC can check their luggage in at the resort's RAC desk and kiss it good-bye, next to see it on their home airport's baggage claim carousel. Those NOT using RAC just have to get their luggage to the DME bus, and the driver will stow it under the bus and give it back to you when you get to the airport.

You don;t have to sit around your room and wait for the DME delivery -- it will be brought to the inside of your room whether you're in there or not. Go out and have fun! You can choose to go to baggage claim and get your bags yourself, but just keep in mind that by doing so you're delaying yourself in getting to your WDW resort (since if DME deivers your bags you get to totally skip baggage claim).

For the OP, I've never heard of a domestic flight scheduled to leave at 2:00 a.m.

Also, every half-way decent hotel in the USA will store guests' luggage well past check-out time; in fact, unless otherwise stated, guests are entitled to the whole range of that hotel's amenities through 11:59 p.m. on their check-out date.
