So, I'm going to be going to Disney for Spring Break on a low budget trip. I haven't stayed at a value resort before (mostly deluxes), so I was wondering about the "grocery" type items that are available in the gift shop. I will be packing some stuff from home, but I'm mainly looking for the availability of milk and orange juice. No ca and I don't plan on spending $50 to get delivery from the local grocery stores.

Can anybody give me a quick run down of the grocery items available at Pop Century?

When I was there in December, I bought a half gallon of milk at the Pop food court for either $2.99 or $3.99. Not really cheap, but cheaper than individual containers.

The food court (next to the gift shop) has about everything like that- several kinds of juices, in various sizes, good choice of milk, too (chocolate, low fat, etc.). They have a cooler with fresh ready-made (on site) sandwiches, salads, desserts, cheese trays. You can buy a whole box of donuts to last you the week for breakfast for about 3 bucks. They also have bags of Doritoes, cheese dip, for snacking. Pretty anything we wanted, they had. They even have beer and wine.
We went in September and were also on a tight budget. If you are not flying, it pays to take as much from home as you can, because the snacks really add up. Bottled water, Poptarts, granola bars, whatever you can fit in your suitcase will save you big money, so you have more money to spend on the fun stuff!!! HAve a great time!!!!

when you say they have beer and wine, you mean other than at the bar? and do you mean the traditional american stuff, like miller lite? is it more expensive than you'd pay at a gas station? my husband and i love to wind down with the occasional miller lite before bedtime. just curious. thanks! :)

We went on a total budget trip to POP in August. I packed pop-tarts, granola bars, fruit snacks, microwave popcorn, cereal (and plastic ziplock/glad bowls to eat it from), peanut butter, jelly, wine (in one of the 3 litre boxes) and even bread. I packed the bread in a plastic box a little bigger than a shoe box so it wouldn't get crushed in my suitcase. I also brought a collapsible cooler to keep the milk/juice cold once I brought it back to the room. I bought wine glasses and snagged cutlery and napkins from the food court.

My DD is a very fussy eater and we found it worthwhile to have a PB&J on hand for her at all times.

One of the best things I've found to bring are UNCRUSTABLES... they are peanut butter and jelly sandwich type things... Keep them in a small cooler and satisfy the kids quickly...

On our last trip I brought a toaster (got it for $8 at Walmart) in my suitcase. I also brought 2 or 3 bags of bagels, cheese slices, jam, pb, butter and cream cheese, a box of cereal, and plastic bowls and spoons to eat it with.. When we arrived we bought milk, juice etc. Most resorts have a few basic groceries available. We stayed at CSR and had a fridge but the collapsible cooler idea is good to keep your stuff fresh.

I always like to have at least breakfast stuff in the room even if I'm not on a tight budget. I don't like having to get everyone up, showered, dressed to go out somewhere for breakfast in a restaurant. Works for us.

As a single parent of a 4-year-old, I learned that it is very important to bring my coffee maker. After staying out at Magic Kingdom until 1:00 am there wasn't anyway that kid was getting up to go with Dad to get his morning coffee. And trust me, Daddy needed his morning coffee...
