I've searched through many Pop Century threads, but could only find a few references to the 80s buildings. If you've stayed in one, how was it? Obviously there is more walking, but was it too much for you? How's the noise level? Any other comments? Please let me know what you thought. Thanks! :fish:

I've stayed in all the Pop sections.

There really isn't that much more walking, depending on where your room is in the buildings. If you're going to the bus stops, you're actually closer in the 80s than in the 50s.

I don't have any real comments on the noise levels, have found them to be about the same anywhere in the resort...you can hear toilets, there's always going to be a bit of running up and down the walkways in front of your door, if you have a connecting door and a particularly noisy group next door you're going to hear everthing they're up to, and you're pretty much bound to get a neighbor who props open the door on the security latch and lets it bang back and forth for awhile. If you're up early it shouldn't be too bothersome.

I have never been in a Pop room that was absolutely quiet all the time.

The quietest resorts I've ever been in were Caribbean Beach and Saratoga Springs, but that is probably just how things worked out...there may not have been anyone in the rooms around me at the time. I never saw anybody.

My wife and I stayed in the 80s last year - the Roger Rabbit block overlooking the computer pool. It was a short walk to the bussess - little longer trek to the main hall and restraunt but overall a good building - I certainlyh wouldnt mind staying there again !

We stayed in the Roger Rabbit building (#7) for our honeymoon the second week of August. We were happy with everything about it! The walk wasn't bad to the pool (we were close to the elevator), the main building, or the busstop. We were convenient to our car, too. One night we "pool-hopped" (calm down it was within our resort) to all the pools in POP and it wasn't a bad walk at all. We had no problems with noise other than some kids running on the walkway one night. We had people on both sides, including one side that had a small baby. I will definitely stay there again.

We were in tehe 80's. Our pool was the laptop pool, and we were on the third floor overlooking the large Google webpage.

It wasn't that noisy and it was a bit of a hike from the main area to our room. We finally found a shortcut but it involved walking through a parking lot.

Thanks everyone. That's quite reassuring. :cool1:

Anyone else agree, disagree, or have something to add? :listen:

We stayed in the 80's section this past July and while the walk was a little longer to the food court if you took the path it wasn't too bad. If you cut through the parking lot you cut down on your walk to the buses.

Reassuring to hear that the walk isn't terrible. Showed DBf my pictures, and he flipped out when he saw the pictures of the 80s building, guess I know where I'll be staying if I ever want to get him to try staying on property ;)

After looking at that map, I was a bit worried too. But thanks fellow DISers, for reassuring me! :grouphug: I think I'm going to love it.

However it is still the longest walk to Everything Pop. We have requested 50's and 70's and still got 80's. We survived, but please, these buildings are farther out than the 90's! I don't like having to cut thru the parking lot to get to the buses but will do so in 5 days. So even in a building that's a distance away, we keep coming back to Pop. We love it!

I believe you, but how does it work out to be farther than the 90s? :confused3 Is it because you could cut through the parking lot to the busses?

Anybody find the walk to be more than it's worth? :worried:

Has anyone actually figured out how far each section of POP was away from the foodcourt? Last time we were at WDW we stayed at CBR in the Jamacia section and didn't think it was to bad of a hike to the foodcourt so would the walk between the 80's and foodcourt be about the same? I am trying to decide where we want to stay for our trip in March and even though both myself and husband want to stay in the 70's section we are open to anything, we just want to be at Disney!

I'm wonder if any of the buildings face EPCOT and DMGM?

I know some rooms in the 50s (& 60s ?) face Epcot. From the far spur of 50s B (Jukebox building), we could see Spaceship Earth pretty well, and probably could have seen some of Illuminations. And I'm not sure which section, but I've read some rooms can also see Wishes. :magnify:

I just booked my room tonight, in Pop's 80s. So I'm holding every one of you personally accountable for recommending it! Just kidding. But seriously, thanks for sharing your opinion! :worship:

I didn't recommend it. I always ask for 50's or 70's.

True, you are exempt from my wrath. But believe me every time I make the walk that is a little further than I want to, I'll think of you. ;)

I did however, request to be as close to Classic Hall as possible in the 80s section. Ultimately I decided I am willing to walk a little bit further for the 80s theme.

But I definitely appreciate your honesty and for preparing me for my trip. You are a great DISer. Thanks!

We've stayed in the 80's and the 50's and both had advantages to them. 50's was closer to Everything Pop but the 80's was closer to the buses. Actually after walking in the parks all day is any room close enogh to the food court? I don't think so. We've always had a great time at Pop. And you can't beat the price. I don't think we'll ever be staying at WL, BC, YC or BW again, now that were saving so much money at Pop. Maine :firefight

We just got back two days ago from staying in the 90's and we liked it a lot. Our room was on the third floor and facing the parking lot, but it was quiet and we had no noisey neighbors even over Labor Day Weekend. It is not too far from the bus stop if you are using Disney Transport or going to Classic Hall. We had a rental car and did drive to Classic Hall each morning for breakfast and we did not use Disney Transport at all..... :sunny:

OK, leaving on Friday. What do you want to bet that we get the 80's, once again near Roger Rabbit? I need to be less terse in my posts. We really do love Pop, even when we're far, far away from the food court.
