POP and MNSSHP Oct 08 + BONUS Weekend at WL in Dec -*2/20 Update - The End!*

Loved the AK pics. You haven't seen Nemo or Lion King. I can say for sure Lion King is really great!! We plan to see nemo this trip so iwill let you know which is better IMO. As far as LMA and Indy, I haven't seen either one ;) . Thomas loved LMA and I love skipping it, LOL. I think Indy would be fun to see though.

Thanks Nichole! The Lion King looks really good to me - not sure about Nemo but I've heard its great. I'll look for your opinion soon! :goodvibes

I actually enjoyed LMA and haven't seen Indy in years - I know my dad would enjoy both so we will try our very best to see them.

You must be crawling out of your skin in excitement! 3 days!!!!

I think it's a great idea to have a short morning and rest/swim at the resort before MNSSHP. Last year, we did not take enough time to rest in between and we were dragging by the end of the party!

Can't wait to hear about the costumes!

Last year we did waaaayyy too much on MNSSHP day and didn't make it until the end. We had the Family Magic Tour in the morning and then BBB appt in the afternoon. This year, I am determined to stay until the end even if it is by myself! :goodvibes

You forgot to mention...calling Sara on her birthday! ;) Geez!
So, 3 rides, 2 shows, and an early lunch! You should be able to do that! At least the shows here aren't as difficult to plan around as DHS! I think Nemo has shows at 10:00 & 11:30am, and FOTLK has shows at 9:30, 10:30 & 11:30am.
So maybe you could do the rides, then 10:00 Nemo, safari, lunch, then 11:30 Lion King? :confused3 Out by noon. Maybe? Or first Lion King at 9:30, rides, Nemo, then lunch on the way out...
I loved Nemo! So beautiful! Such talent! I've never seen Lion King, but I'm really hoping to see it in...oh,....IDK....DECEMBER? ;)
Definitely want to rest up so you can stay for the whole party this time, right? :rolleyes1
Sara

Well, I was going to call you from the MK - thought it would be more fun that way! :rolleyes1

Thanks for your great AK day tips - you are so good at this stuff! :flower3: Seriously - you are!

I WILL be at the party the whole time - even if it kills me!

Sounds like a great plan! I recommend the Nemo show. It was really cute and really good! We saw it in December. We missed the Lion King...but not this next time. :) Are you dressing up for MNSSHP? What is Samantha dressing up as? (hopefully you've not told us already and I spaced it out):rolleyes1 Have you ever done the Family Magic Tour? I was thinking about doing it on our next trip, and there is availability soooooooooooooooo.

Love hearing about your plans.

Have a great day,
Jeanette :upsidedow

Hey Michelle! I just wanted you to know that I'm reading. I can't type more. I have a sleeping toddler on my shoulder! Talk to you when we get back.

Thanks Jeanette! You'll have to wait for the next post to find out what we are wearing to MNSSHP..... ;)

We did the Family Magic Tour last October and had a great time! I think you should go for it - something different and fun to do at MK!

You must be getting so excited!! :yay:

Hey Michelle! I just wanted you to know that I'm reading. I can't type more. I have a sleeping toddler on my shoulder! Talk to you when we get back.

Hey Monica! I'm glad you are reading along. How is that little toddler doing? I hope you guys have a great trip! :goodvibes

I could swear I posted yesterday.:confused3 I swear, I don't know where my brain is lately.

I can't wait to hear about FOTLK and the Nemo show. I've never seen either.

Aww, I love the picture of Sam after riding Kali River Rapids (though maybe she wasn't thrilled to be soaking wet!). The last couple times we've gone on that we really haven't gotten all that wet...but on the Grizzly River Run in Disneyland we got DRENCHED! Of course one time we rode it, it was in the pouring rain! :rotfl:

Festival of the Lion King and the Nemo musical are awesome! FOTLK is much more high energy though, but Nemo was still cute too. I hope you get to see both of them. :)

Gosh, Michelle... you and Sara both have pre-trippies going and I didn't even know! I've subbed... but must come back later to read! :goodvibes

Hey Tat! Have you recovered from your trip yet?

I'll be sure to give you a full report on FOTLK and Nemo! :thumbsup2

Thanks! Sam actually enjoys getting soaked on the water rides - and loves it even more when I get soaked too. We took my parents on it once and she convinced them that they wouldn't get wet at all - she was laughing really hard when they got drenched! :rotfl:

I think we should be able to see both shows this trip as this is our only plan on Thursday other than MNSSHP in the evening - I am determined!

Gosh, Michelle... you and Sara both have pre-trippies going and I didn't even know! I've subbed... but must come back later to read! :goodvibes

Hi Nicole! Glad you found me! Yes, Sara and I will miss eachother by a day at WDW. :sad2:

You must be getting so excited!! :yay:

I am getting excited, however, Bailey and Courtney know nothing about this little adventure, so I have to be very good and extremely careful. I am horrible at keeping secrets (well, the good kind anyway) :ssst:
So far I haven't blown it, just less than 3 weeks away:cool1:

Oh your so bad making us wait to find out the halloween costumes....... Can't wait to read more!

Take care,
Jeanette

Ahem....Michelle.....COSTUMES? Do you have pics of the finished product, yet?

(Where's the tapping foot smilie?):rolleyes2

Do you have something special planned to surprise the girls? Or are you just going to tell them when you get there?

Stay tuned......... sorta update coming right up :goodvibes

Well, I was going to post an update with our MNSSHP outfits and plans but my camera seems to be broken! :scared1: I bought a couple of things for me and my mom to wear today (not a costume but some fun accessories) and was planning to post a picture of everything for you all. My camera won't turn on at all - I replaced the batteries (twice) and still nothing! Not good timing with a trip coming up!

So, anyone have a recommendation for an easy, non-expensive camera? I don't want anything fancy - the one I have is a Kodak EasyShare C380 and I've been happy with it other than the fact it uses batteries like crazy!

We are having a garage sale on Saturday - was hoping to make some spending money for Disney. Now that money may be going towards a new camera! :sad2:

Awww man Michelle! It's always something, right? Ugh.:headache:

Well, I can only speak from experience about the camera I use which is an Olympus. I do like the fact that it can go underwater (not that I do, mind you... but the camera can) without anything whatsoever covering it. Makes for some cool shots of the kids swimming. Also no worries on water rides like Splash, or (I can only imagine) Kali....other than securing it with a strap so as not to lose it. It really takes good shots though. I think it's an Olympus 770...retails around $200, I think. Kodak is a good brand though, especially for just ease-of-use.

Ugh...garage sales....:headache: I hope you make a lot of money though! :goodvibes

Sara

I don't know if you have a Costco near you, but they have some good cameras on sale right now. There's a 10 MP Kodak on sale for 150 and it comes with a 2 GB memory card.

I'm also on the lookout for cameras. I don't NEED one, but I want one! Let me know what you decide on and how it is!

I'm working on that.............but....................would love suggestions. I have been looking for graphics for t-shirts on the disboards, however, I am mostly seeing DCL stuff (that's next years 40th b-day trip) if you have ever used anyones stuff, just let me know their name and I will try to find them on the Dis.

Sorry about your camera.....that's a big bummer! Good luck on the garage sale, make a a lot of Disney cash:rotfl:

Hey, it's Friday! TGIF:cool1:

Thanks Sara - I've heard good things about Olympus but I've always had a Kodak for some reason. Maybe its time to try a different brand?

I'm not too thrilled about the garage sale either - it was my moms idea and she has been helping a lot. If it was up to me I would just donate the stuff- can't stand the hassle of the garage sale - we get some real nuts around here. But, it is extra money so we are going for it! It was a good motivator for Sam too - she cleaned out a lot of her old toys/clothes and I told her she could have the money for them. :goodvibes

Thanks! We have a Costco though I'm not a member - but I have a friend who is so I may have to check it out. I may not need a camera before the trip though - stay tuned......

Hey, it's Friday! TGIF:cool1:

I'm surprised you haven't been able to find a graphic over there. I"ve never actually ventured over to the DISign threads as I am very crafticapped. From what I've heard though, they are very helpful over there. Sara (mom2mek) found a great desing for her kids surprise shirts!

So - camera news - I was all prepared to go out today and purchase a new one. I decided to try changing the batteries one more time this morning and now it works! :confused3 No clue what the problem was unless the first two sets of batteries were no good? Who knows but I'm glad I don't have to buy a new one before the trip. I am looking to purchase a new camera in the near future though as I'm not super thrilled with the one so thanks for all the suggestions. I'm just happy I don't have that added expense before the trip. I'll have to use my camera a bit before the trip though just to be sure it really is working - I'd hate to have it break while at WDW.

Stay tuned - I will take pictures of my MNSSHP stuff a bit later today (have to do some work this morning :sad2: ).

I'm not a fan of doing them either, but for all the reasons you stated, they are good! Michael got all geared up for ours last year and put a lot of stuff out there for sale (but then he tried to get his grandparents to buy the stuff and keep it at their house - that boy was using his noggin - got money and didn't truly have to give it up! :rotfl: )

Good luck! We try to do ours from 8 to 12 and at 12 put out a sign that everything is 1/2 off for the next hour. Then whatever is left at 1:00 gets boxed up and sent to charity. I even called once and had them come pick it up around 2:00 - boom, bang, bing...OVER! It worked pretty well! :goodvibes I

also saw someone suggest putting all the little tiny toys (happy meal ones, little characters from sets that you don't have all the pieces to, etc, etc) in a bin with some brown paper lunch bags and putting a sign that says "fill a bag for a buck" so we did that and the kids that were tagging along with their parents really liked it (I'm sure the parents didn't  ).

  That's great news Michelle! Definitely try it out a bunch of times before the trip and see if it continues to work. Our video camera won't keep a charged battery either, so we are going to have to either get another one before we leave, or just use my mom's the whole time. I'm thinking the latter would be better. Save money for using there! :yay:

Can't wait to see the costumes! :goodvibes

I love this idea Sara! We have so many of those little toys that you can't really sell on their own - I am going to try and get some of them together tonight so we can get rid of them - even if I have to give them away!

My mom put an ad in the paper for our sale - she called me last night to tell me to not be surprised if I get knocks on the door tonight of people wanting to get a preview! I won't be answering my door!

Costumes coming up......

Our plans for the rest of Thursday are to have dinner at Kona and then head over to MNSSHP. Our Kona reservation is at 5:00 (when they open) so hopefully we will get in and out quickly. I was almost going to cancel this so we could get to the party at 4 but decided to keep it as I really want to try this restaurant (and so does my mom). The party doesn't actually start until 7 but we usually try to do some rides before then. But, its usually pretty crowded in that time between 4 and 7.

I'm not sure if we will drive or take the bus tonight. It is kind of a pain to drive to MK as you still have to take the ferry or monorail over from TTC. But, if we park at TTC we can walk to the Poly for dinner and then just hop on the monorail from there. My concern with the bus is leaving after the party - in our experience the bus lines are super long that time of night and I know Samantha (and me!) will be really tired. But, I'm sure the monorail/ferry lines will be long too. Anyhoo - we will decide later I guess - on to the costumes/non-costumes!

Samantha wants to be Jasmine. She lookes at a lot of costumes online but ultimately decided on Jasmine since she says "this is probably the last year I'll want to be a princess"! :sad1: :sad2: :sad1:

Here is a picture of the costume we ordered:
10145.jpg

Well, the costume wasn't exactly what we expected - it is totally see-through! I tried to talk her in to getting a different Jasmine costume that I found after the fact but she had her heart set on this. So, she will wear leggings under the bottom and my mom is going to sew a liner or something into the top - it is really sheer! I'm hoping it is not cool that night cause there isn't much in the middle.

My mom and I are going to wear halloween t-shirts and (hopefully) some of the accessories I bought. I ordered shirts for us last year on zazzle - my mom had a Minnie Mouse dressed as a witch and I had Pluto trick or treating. My mom will probably wear her shirt from last year but I found some cool light-up shrits at wal-mart for me! I bought two because I couldn't decide - I will take one back but still not sure which one.

Here they are:

Tinkerbell (the eyes of the skull light up - I tried to get a picture of them lighting up but couldn't!)

Ghosts:

This is a picture of the ghost that lights up:

So, what do you guys think? I'm leaning towards one but I will wait to tell you when I'm sure.

I found these goofy headbands and masks at the grocery store yesterday so I got one of each for my mom and I. I'm not sure she will wear them but I will!

100_1425.jpg

100_1426.jpg

One of these years I want to really dress up! It would be more fun to do that on a trip with friends though - anyone want to plan a trip for next year?

I am determined to see both the parade and fireworks at the party this year (we missed them last year). I'm sure we'll do a lot of trick or treating also and hopefully get some good pictures with characters. And of course as many rides as possible - hopefully the lines are short like last year!

Up next - Epcot day!

I love the Tink shirt!

And the masks and headbands are great!

That's crazy that the Jasmine costume was SO sheer. I hope your mom is able to get a good liner sewn into the top. It sounds like leggings will be perfect under the bottom.
