Cast: Me (36), DH (41), DD (8), DS (5)
Well we managed to keep it a surprise until we got to the airport - although the surprise wasn't taken happily by DD who burst into tears screaming "I'm not going, you can't make me go to Disney World." All was ok in about 1/2 hour (she was upset she hadn't said a proper goodbye to her cat).
8/25 - SW flight from MHT arrived at MCO about 20 minutes early (3:00). Check-in at ME desk with no wait, on bus no longer than 5 minutes before departing, POP was 1st stop. Our timing couldn't have been better. Check-in at POP with no wait, CM seemed a little surprised that our room was already assigned (I had faxed a request for 50s or 70s with a view of a Yo-Yo, DS's name is Duncan). We got the perfect room (matching request), 1st floor corner, 70s, view from window and when opening door - huge Duncan Yo-Yo.
We unpacked, looked around resort, then headed over to Chef Mickey's for dinner. Had a great time. We had the dining plan (free!), we were allowed a regular drink (soda, etc) and a specialty drink (smoothie, glow cubes, etc).
8/26 - Typhoon Lagoon for day (10:00-3:00), great time. Then we headed over to 1900 Park Fare for Cinderella's Gala Feast - another good meal and good character interaction, although Fairy Godmother wasn't there this time.
8/27 - Magic Kingdom day. 8:05 AR at Crystal Palace - very good, although waiter was pretty scarce; was surprised by lots of empty tables. Done breakfast by 9:00 and went to Indy, were 1st riders of day. No waits anywhere, we did everything except Adventureland by 1:00, so we headed back to POP for lunch and swim. Went back to MK at 5:00, did the couple rides we hadn't done, saw some characters, then headed out around 8:00 (it was much more crowed in the evening - longest line we saw was 60 minutes at Peter Pan, only 20 at Pooh and Space Mtn).
8/28 - Blizzard Beach. We went to BB around 10:00 and stayed until about 2:00. Had a good time - much better than on the cold day we went in January (we almost didn't go back we thought it was so bad - what a difference a hot day can make). Dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe. Had a great time, our waiter wasn't as into the fun as some others, but it was enough for us, the kids did the pony race; we all thought the food here was great.
8/29 - Downtown Disney. Went shopping for a bit since we didn't have ME pick up until 3:40. This was the only day that we felt we had to wait too long for busses. Back to POP, had lunch at food court, then headed home.
Misc. - DS has a food allergy - met with chef at each TS, they were great. Asked about a couple of things at POP and chef was sent out with info.
Dining plan - The total I have receipts for food for 4 of us, 4 nights is about $525, I don't have receipts for 5 CS and 5 snacks, so probably was about $600 - great deal with the free Dining Plan, Dining Plan would have worked for us even if we had paid.
Now the wait until April for the next trip . . .
