Poor stay at Coronado Springs

I could have sworn when I stayed at CSR last year they had the screens. I'm almost positive they do.

One thing CSR has going for it over the value resorts is the location of the bus stops at the parks. CSR is always very close to the park gates. The value bus stops are the ones the farthest out. It is wonderful to have a short walk to the bus stop at night when you are worn out.
The main one right outside the entrance DOES NOT have a screen however the other stop locations do (unfortunately they only had disney Springs time listed and never listed the other parks bus times)

I wonder why the main one doesn't? That is very odd.

We were told that our luggage would come to our room and it never was. When we called down for it, it took an hour to come to our room. There’s no screen at the main bus stop at the resort to let you know when the buses are coming so you might have to wait an hour for one. Also, there’s 5 stops at the resort and would HIGHLY recommend going to the 1st stop since it becomes crowded at the last one.
We have a car so we'll bring our own bags up to the room, and won't be using the bus at all. We are hoping for a nice room, no noise from the construction, and lastly some pool time but with the weather forecast for the weekend we might not get our third wish :sad2:

That’s a great idea! My husband and I had a renovated room which was amazing! We said we would stay there again if we had our own car and didn’t rely on their service. Bonus, the pool is somewhat heated and the hot tub is the biggest on property :)

has anyone else experienced a poor stay at the Coronado Springs resort like we did?

From the luggage area to the bus service, by far the worst experience we’ve had a Disney :(

My cousin did over Thanksgiving. I had a nice stay in 2008, so I was the one to convince her to stay at CSR. Of course, I did so in mid 2016 before construction started. I feel bad, however.

Been there many times, nothing I'd call poor.

Bus service is an issue everywhere. Just from the last trip (last weekend) I'm guessing they are running fewer buses on all routes with the exception of park opening and closing times.

On another thread it was said that Disney can't hire enough bus drivers. I tend to believe it. Where I work we are horribly understaffed. We couldn't hire enough people for the holidays and those of us working are working extra hours and are exhausted. Many of us are sick too. Can hardly wait for February when things calm down.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. We have stayed there a lot (10 stays) and I can honestly say we have never had a completely "poor" stay. There may have been a few bad bus waits and other small issues but not all on one trip. What were the issues?
We have always had great stays at Coronado. It became our go to resort when Disney stopped offering discounts at POFQ. We were so pleasantly surprised with CSR that we have stayed there every time since (5 times). We were last there at the end of May beginning of June this year and were not sure about the construction but it didn't affect our stay at all. It is a wonderful resort. Cheers!!!!
Any suggestions on Ranchos vs Cabanas? Only stayed at Casitas...and it was fine....requested Cabanas 8 so we could be near the Dig Site Pool and short walk to ElCentro.....Thoughts?

I think Casitas and Ranchos are nicer themed, but we usually request the Cabanas section do to it's location.

I love CSR. As far as bus service, it can be bad at any resort at any given time.
I agree with that.... we have had weird bus issues at every type of resort. So I wouldn't exactly fault the resort itself for that.

We usually stayed at the Cabanas, building 8A to be close to the main pool and bus stop but in May the construction had closed two of the buildings and the other were full. We ended up at the Ranchos 7B and it was great. Close to the main pool and the Ranchos quiet pool. Never tried the Casitas. We like being closer to the main pool. The walk to the lobby isn't too bad from 8A or 7B. We usually walk to the lobby early in the morning and again later in the evening. The resort is beautiful especially at night. Cheers!!!!

I am on the plane heading home from a split stay at Coronado and the Dolphin. I'very stayed at Coronado before and really enjoyed my stay but this time was a bit of a disappointment.

We had an unrenovated room in Casitas 5 and we kept joking that they were probably coming through with the wrecking ball the minute we checked out. They had already stripped a lot of paint around the doors and windows of the building and they were clearly prepping for major work. There was a large cherry picker parked in front of the building and there were workers around every corner during the day with tools and painting equipment left laying around. There was also a ton of work going on in part of Casitas 3(I think ) that we walked by every day. We have been to Disney a ton of times so it was not a huge deal at all to see all the construction going on all the time but if I were on my first WDW trip I think I would have found it less than magical.

Our room itself was definitely worn and a little grubbier than I would have liked but it was not unacceptable by any stretch.

The public areas, specifically the Pepper Market and the seating area for Cafe RiX were pretty grimy and unkempt. Hopefully they will be spruced up and refreshed when everything else is done.

We had no bus issues and all the cast members were great but it definitely felt like a resort in transition. I expected that so it did not ruin my trip but I could see it being disappointing for a first timer.

I also find that POP's route seems to be one of the most direct to each park.

I was worried about that. I've stayed at pop and never had any issues over multiple stays there. It always felt that there were the perfect amount of busses for the amount of people.

I've been avoiding all the CSR threads lately because all the construction questions drive me nuts.

But I wanted to comment on the buses at CSR.

We've spent 75 plus days at CSR since 2010. The bus service has always been fantastic. It's actually generally reported by the regulars on DIS that CSR has the most consistently good bus service at all of WDW. As you can see I've spent enough days there to confirm that.

There are 3 things that I think contribute to this:

1) Dedicated buses. They don't share with any other resorts.

2) Convention resort. A lot of guests aren't using the buses, so they don't always fill up like other resorts.

3) Probaly the most central location of all the resorts. Short travel times to DHS, EPCOT, and AK. Not bad to MK. This means short rides to the park and quick returns to the resort.

We have been there a couple times through the Christmas craziness and although buses are full at that time of year, we still thought the service was good. I've also been at CSR while people have been complaining on DIS how crappy the bus service is and received excellent service at that time....lol....ill leave you to figure out what that means.

Our last stay was for 2 weeks Dec. 2016. I'm in Orlando right now. But not at CSR this trip.

It is possible that they have decreased the bus service to CSR with the construction going on. A lot less rooms to fill and people to move I guess. So that could be effecting the bus service. But generally CSR has great bus service.

Ok, I'm going back into hiding now. :)
