Poor Sportsmanship in the NFL

That was kind of my point though. Gabby was raked over the coals for something that she shouldn't have been. I am surprised the media is not making more of Kaepernick sitting. Both did nothing wrong, although I do think Kaepernick is doing it for attention and actually making a mockery of his stand for oppression when he is making millions.
I didn't really hear much about Gabby. My family and friend circle is very into the NFL and probably 75% of them are also law enforcement so I have been bombarded with posts about him.

But I agree with that then if the cases are similar.

Or he could give up his huge salary and walk away from football, and instead serve as he type of policeman he thinks we need. Of course, that would require a true sacrifice on his part and not just whining and sitting on his rear in an attempt to get attention while making no real sacrifice at all.

He made no effort to whine or anything. He just sat down and didn't say anything about it. It became public only after reporters asked where he was and asked. I'm not a 49er fan and I don't particularly like Colin Kapernick, but this is a nonissue. He had a silent protest that became public.

Hopefully the defense will knock some sense into him. Maybe make him paralyzed than he will have a reason not to stand. Anyone who doesn't stand who can should be given a one way ticket to the country of their choice.

I too wish we would get rid of the faux patriotism that accompanies sporting events.
Why is it "faux patriotism"? It's tradition for one thing. I had no comment on the Gabby thing as I hadn't seen it, nor did I watch a video of it or read anything about it. Was there a reason? Was she overwhelmed and distracted? I have no idea so hence my no comment. Kap has issues. This is just ONE of them. While I agree with it's a free country and no one has to say the pledge or stand at attention when the anthem is played, his reasoning is my issue. Really? Race relations in this country are at a low and for specific and contrived reasons. His "stance" does nothing for his "cause" and is strictly for attention as his starting days are in the past, IMO. He's a spoiled idiot/brat.

Wow! Hoping that a guy becomes paralyzed because he didn't stand for the anthem is quite sickening and extreme.

You like having the right to voice that opinion correct?

He was voicing his.

That's the beauty of loving in a "mostly" free country.

Yeah, too bad we live in America instead of a great country like North Korea where he'd be shot.

:sad2:

I had given the prize to our swimmer for the robbery story. But This post surpassed any of those and went beyond just poor sportsmanship and went into U.S.S. beyond the pale territory, boldly going where no man has ever should have.

He doesn't seem to have any problem accepting his 11.9 million dollar guaranteed oppressive salary from this oppressive society. I would be more impressed if he donated his salary to a cause that fought oppression. That would be standing up for oppression.

What evidence do you have that he does not do that? Perhaps not with his full salary, but with a portion?

Why should a guy have to give away his money? Why does he need to buy his right to call attention to an issue that a lot of people want to sweep under the right?

I too wish we would get rid of the faux patriotism that accompanies sporting events.

What's so wrong w/ patriotism? And why shouldn't our National Anthem be played before sporting events?

I think what the guy did was horrid & shameful. But it is a free country. Many men & women have served & died for him to have that right. I only wish he recognized that & respected the sacrifice for which our flag stands.

Oh, & I do agree w/ some others... If you really think our country is that awful, you're free to leave & find another country that suits you better.

I can't like your post enough!! It's a sad thing when Patriotism for your country is sneered at, but it's what we've come to these days.

"Faux" is in the eye of the beholder. I love the patriotic stuff! I love the anthem. I love the tributes to military, first responders, teachers, youth organizations, etc. Throw in a flyover and I'm good to go! If you don't like that stuff, it seems like it would be a great time to go to the concessions and restrooms...

This is without a doubt the most hateful comment I've ever read on these boards and you should be bloody ashamed of yourself. Clearly you've never worked in the disability sector. SMH.

Well first of all a local sporting event has absolutely nothing to do a governmental activity or a "state" event. It isn't an international competition where teams are under the aegis of their nation.

Then you can add all the money pro sports teams received from DoD for so called tributes. I'd link you to it, but don't want to be accused of it being a "political" post. So just search on "tackling paid patriotism." In my book, paid patriotism is faux.

If you don't object, I'll stay and work to make my country better than it was when I joined the military and went off to fight . . . Lordy, it was almost 50 years ago now. Calling attention to where and how it can improve is aluable.

Gabby didn't do anything that dozens of others didn't also do. The reason it stuck out was she didn't cover her heart while standing next to 4 girls who DID. Had she been up there by herself, nobody would have noticed.

As for Cap, well he's always been a douche and a bonehead to boot, so no shock here. I'm curious exactly what official US policy it is that he feels is oppressive toward minorities. And how ironic that the US is the only nation on earth where could earn his current salary with his very specific skill set.
