So we hopped on the boat back to the Poly and as we arrived and walked along the beach back to our room, Mike was like, "Let's see how much it will cost to have a lagoon view room." I said, "OK!" and the next thing we knew we were packing up all of our goodies (not to be mistaken with The Goodys!!) and headed across the hall to a MK view room! Oh, it was beautiful and peaceful and definitely worth the extra $110 a night!! Happy Mother's Day to me and Happy 7th Anniversary to us!! Little did we know, that would not be our only room change during this trip!!! Curious?:confused3

This was on the bed of our new room!

After we took in the beauty of the new view, we went to the pool for a dip and then came back so Emily could take a nap before our anniversary dinner at California Grill. We ate there last year for our anniversary and we were looking forward to going back!

Emily was still napping when we jumped on the resort monorail to the Contemporary. Our ADR was for 6:30pm and they had a table ready, but we wanted a window seat so we had to wait about 20 minutes, which was fine because it gave Emily a chance to wake up.

Emily woke up and we headed up the elevator and headed to the observation deck for some pics, but it wasn't long before they called us for our table:

On to the good stuff...The FOOD!!!!
Mike started with sushi! I can't remember which one he chose, but I think it is tuna.
378.jpg

Mike loved this appetizer and claimed it to be the best and freshest tuna he has ever had!

I had the Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli - with sun-dried tomatoes, pesto, shiitake mushrooms and basil
380.jpg

OMG! This ravioli was so scrumptious, I could have eaten a few more! It was bursting with flavor, the cheese was smooth and creamy and the sauce, oh, the sauce!! Tomatoie and light! Highly recommended!

For our entrees, Mike and I both picked the Oak-fired Filet of Beef with cheesy Yukon gold potato mash, sautéed broccolini, and and teriyaki barbecue sauce
382.jpg

381.jpg

The steaks were tender and melted in your mouth just like I remembered them from the year before! (I will say that the Filet I had at the Yachtsman Steakhouse was better though!)
The potatos and broccolini are the perfect compliment to the steak and it's teriyaki BBQ sauce! DROOL!

As we were devouring our steaks, the sun was setting and it was very romantic!

And then came the desserts!
Mike ordered the "Celebration Inspired" Banana Creme Brulee with a trio of banana cakes, caramel ice cream and caramelized bananas
383.jpg

This was very tasty, but the creme brulee was a little runny. The bananas were super yummy though!

I had the Valrhona Chocolate Cake and Raspberry - Warm chocolate cake with molten center, housemade raspberry ice cream and raspberry sauce
385.jpg

It was everything I was dreaming of as a chocoholic! The cake was moist and gooey in the middle and the raspberry ice cream was light and sweet. Emily helped me lick the plate clean!

We love the California Grill for the food, but most of all, for the view. You can't get a better shot of the MK and Seven Seas Lagoon! The restaurant is a little loud because of it's open kitchen, but I would definitely recommend this restaurant for your special occasion! We will definitely eat here again, if not only for the view! We rate the CG :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2!!

Up Next: Day 4 - May 10, 2009 Numero Tres...Back to the MK for EMH!

Oh WOW!!! What a spectacular day! That's so wonderful that your lovely husband thought to upgrade you guys to lagoon view! It looks so pretty!

California Grill looks amazing - that dessert sounds heavenly! It is definitely on my list of places to get to SOON!!!

How awesome is that.....Cali Grill sounds amazing and the sunset ahhh what better way to celebrate your special day(s) lol.

What a great Mother's Day. I just told my husband that I would love to be at Disney World on Mother's Day and eat breakfast at Crystal Palace. I can't believe it wasn't crowded. I figured it would be.

Was really interested to see how you got on at the Cali Grill as we have booked to take the girls there this year for the first time. Did Emily enjoy the food there?
Your pics are lovely. A MK view room would be heaven - how lucky!!!

Yay for the upgrade. That meal looked fabulous! And the sunset-very nice. I bet the 4 of you will enjoy it next year! Fingers crossed.

I'm loving your TR! I have a 22 m/o DD named Emily! Your Emily is just adorable! We will also be celebrating our 7th anniversary during our trip. I just mentioned to my DH that I was reading your report and how nice it is to read about a husband that is as excited about visiting The World as the wife and kids are. Sometimes it seems that the DH is just a reluctant passenger but your isn't! My DH promised to keep the upbeat spirit during our September trip after we talked about yours. Great TR and am looking forward to more! :thumbsup2

Emily had the pizza here and it was GOOD! It's hand made dough and wood fired and HUGE!! We took her left overs and had them as a late night snack! I also think it is worth it to wait for a window table!

Yay for Emily's!! You guys will have a blast at Disney! This was Emily's 3rd trip and they just keep getting better! Mike loves Disney as much as I do, although I do all of the planning! He has an input here and there, especially when it come to the food! Your DH will be just as excited as you, he'll start to get gitty about a week before you leave! That's how Mike is! Are you writing a pre-trip report? If not, you should! I'd love to hear about your plans!:yay:

Wow! The view is gorgeous at CG! Brad now wants to eat there next time.

I'm so glad ya'll got to upgrade to lagoon view! I really want to save up and stay at Poly. I just love the atmosphere.

It's so cute that Emily was asking Where's Darby.

I have got to come up with a good signature place for our trip in Sept. We will be headed back home on our actual anniversary but I want to have a nice dinner while we are there, CG looks really good. It may be the one I choose. I have 20 days before my 90 + 10.

Wow, the CG food looks delicious! And what a great view from the Contemporary, oh my goodness. That looks like such a wonderful Mother's Day dinner.

The new room at the Poly is amazing! I am in love with the view. I'm dying to know where the next room chance will be though! Do you stay at the Poly?:yay:

Hey too funny! Mothers Day was our 1st day. I was so sad tonight. I was going through our photopass pictures and the tinkerbell special one from MK isn't there. Wonder if the guy didn't get it loaded onto my card!!!

Hi Wendy! I am back from vacay and all caught up on your TR. It is great so far. Emily is a cutie and your pictures of the Poly are beautiful!

How is life adjusting after the vacation!? For us it's been a little tough with the bedtime routine... and we seem a little extra tired!!

I would choose Cali Grill or Narcosees, but Cali Grill definitely has the views to make your special day spectacular! When are you starting the PTR for that trip?

Aww! Bummer about the Tink picture. I wish I would have remembered to ask for more of the special pics, but I was always too busy getting Emily out of the stroller and kept forgetting! I think I need to make a list of all of the special shots for next time!

What a fantastic view! That dessert looks so yummy!

And yummy it was!!!

Emily's had a hard time adjusting to her normal bedtime too! I think she was still up at 2am one night last week! I've been exhausted and can't get motivated to do anything!

Glad you liked my Goddy's comment!! You guys should do CG for dinner next fall!

I'm all caught up. Your trip sounds fabulous. What a wonderful anniversary/mother's day present, a Poly upgrade!! :thumbsup2 All your food pictures look delish!

Welcome back! I followed you on Twitter through the World! Did you find your bunny? I was bummed for you when I didn't see it in England! I need to head over to your TR and get reading!!

Great update, the pic of the sun setting is gorgeous!!!

It's a great view and the sunset was gorgeous. The Cali Grill makes an announcement everynight as the sun sets. Something like, "Ladies and Gentleman, the California Grill Sunset!" Everyone claps and oohs and aahs!

Loving your trip report! The pictures are wonderful. I can't wait to find out what your next room change will be! :)
