So we hopped on the boat back to the Poly and as we arrived and walked along the beach back to our room, Mike was like, "Let's see how much it will cost to have a lagoon view room." I said, "OK!" and the next thing we knew we were packing up all of our goodies (not to be mistaken with The Goodys!!) and headed across the hall to a MK view room! Oh, it was beautiful and peaceful and definitely worth the extra $110 a night!! Happy Mother's Day to me and Happy 7th Anniversary to us!! Little did we know, that would not be our only room change during this trip!!! Curious?
This was on the bed of our new room!
After we took in the beauty of the new view, we went to the pool for a dip and then came back so Emily could take a nap before our anniversary dinner at California Grill. We ate there last year for our anniversary and we were looking forward to going back!
Emily was still napping when we jumped on the resort monorail to the Contemporary. Our ADR was for 6:30pm and they had a table ready, but we wanted a window seat so we had to wait about 20 minutes, which was fine because it gave Emily a chance to wake up.
Emily woke up and we headed up the elevator and headed to the observation deck for some pics, but it wasn't long before they called us for our table:
On to the good stuff...The FOOD!!!!
Mike started with sushi! I can't remember which one he chose, but I think it is tuna.
Mike loved this appetizer and claimed it to be the best and freshest tuna he has ever had!
I had the Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli - with sun-dried tomatoes, pesto, shiitake mushrooms and basil
OMG! This ravioli was so scrumptious, I could have eaten a few more! It was bursting with flavor, the cheese was smooth and creamy and the sauce, oh, the sauce!! Tomatoie and light! Highly recommended!
For our entrees, Mike and I both picked the Oak-fired Filet of Beef with cheesy Yukon gold potato mash, sautéed broccolini, and and teriyaki barbecue sauce
The steaks were tender and melted in your mouth just like I remembered them from the year before! (I will say that the Filet I had at the Yachtsman Steakhouse was better though!)
The potatos and broccolini are the perfect compliment to the steak and it's teriyaki BBQ sauce! DROOL!
As we were devouring our steaks, the sun was setting and it was very romantic!
And then came the desserts!
Mike ordered the "Celebration Inspired" Banana Creme Brulee with a trio of banana cakes, caramel ice cream and caramelized bananas
This was very tasty, but the creme brulee was a little runny. The bananas were super yummy though!
I had the Valrhona Chocolate Cake and Raspberry - Warm chocolate cake with molten center, housemade raspberry ice cream and raspberry sauce
It was everything I was dreaming of as a chocoholic! The cake was moist and gooey in the middle and the raspberry ice cream was light and sweet. Emily helped me lick the plate clean!
We love the California Grill for the food, but most of all, for the view. You can't get a better shot of the MK and Seven Seas Lagoon! The restaurant is a little loud because of it's open kitchen, but I would definitely recommend this restaurant for your special occasion! We will definitely eat here again, if not only for the view! We rate the CG
