Pools for hotel guests versus villa guests

In planning a trip for my husband, self and son, I'm researching the various resorts and frankly looking at the pools and grounds as well. Because of the size of our party, not necessarily number, but size, we're plus sized, we may have to go with a studio villa, rather than a "hotel room".

I'm wondering, are the villas very far away from the "hotels", and do guests at the villas get to use the pools at the hotels, or are they limited to the pools at the villas, if there are separate ones?

I'm looking at the Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club, and Animal Kingdom Lodge, in particular.

Thanks for any info!

As a villa guest, you can use any of the pools at that resort. For example, if you are staying at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge, you can use the pool in the "villas section" or the main pool by the hotel part.

Some villas have their own pools that only villa guests can access. For example, if you are staying at Bay Lake Tower (which is attached to the Contemporary), you can use the Contemporary's pools or BLT's pool. However, Contemporary guests cannot use BLT's pool. You will need a room key to access.

At the beach club, you can use stormalong bay or the pool by the villas.

At VWL and BCV, the villa buildings are right next to the resort 'main building', attached by a covered walkway.

At AKV, your villa may either be in Jambo House, the same building that the AKL hotel rooms are in, or in the Kidani Village, which is a short distance away. Bus service is provided between the two areas. You would choose which building to be in at the time of booking; they are separate booking categories.

If you are staying in a villa, you may use any of the pools at that resort. Hotel guests may also use the villas pools, with one exception - while BLT guests may use the pools at CR and BLT, CR guests may only use the pool at CR.

I don't really see the advantage of a studio because you are plus size. A studio at those resorts would give you a queen bed and a double sofabed. Would your son be comfortable on a sofabed? A hotel room would give you 2 queens. Now a 1 bedroom villa would give you more room, a king and a queen sofabed.

This is what I was thinking. A studio is really just a standard hotel room with different, less desirable (to most, I suppose) bedding.

well and a kitchenette... I like having the microwave and minifridge. But its just my DH and I so that extra bed just ended up being used like a big table anyway.

I totally agree with Debbie. Unless you were planning on a one bedroom villa, there is no advantage of the studio over the standard hotel room. Unless you were going to OKW which has two queen beds and the studio is about the largest studio on the property. But you didn't include OKW in your list of choices.

Some of the hotel rooms (think BC) would probably even have two queen beds and a day bed.

The standard rooms have a fridge now too - so it's really only the microwave. And even those are available on request at most deluxe resorts.

I have to agree that a standard hotel room is about the same size (if not exactly the same size) as a studio room - so if you're thinking you'll get much more room from a studio, you might want to check the square footage info. You get one less bed in a studio - so someone will have to sleep on a sofa bed. But you DO get the kitchenette, so you have to decide which is more important to you. But don't let the word "studio" fool you into thinking the room is any larger than a regular hotel room.

Have a great trip!

For a couple without kids, the studio is a little more functional. But, if anyone has to sleep on the pull-out, then a regular hotel room (or an OKW studio) is a better bet.

I guess I was looking at the studio being more affordable at the villas, and I also didn't feel like I needed all the space of a one bedroom, especially not enough to warrant the cost. Maybe a deluxe or regular room will work for us.
I'll look into those, too! Thanks!
