Pools chlorine or saltwater?

I don't think any are salt water unless I missed an announcement. I highly doubt any ever will be salt water.

There are actually two salt water pools -- the new pool at Wilderness Lodge, and the Oasis Pool at Poly.

As they build new pools, they're making them saltwater. The old ones are not being converted at this point in time.

Thanks for the information. Someone in my traveling party has skin issues and chlorine irritates their skin. We'll just stay out of the pools.

Just to clarify, a "salt water pool" is most definitely NOT chlorine free. They use a chlorine generator to create chlorine from the salt water. We have a salt water pool at home. The benefit to them is that the chlorine supply is constant so there is rarely an overdose of chlorine and rarely an underdose. It's much more stable. It does seem to feel better and less harsh, but I think that is due to having the "proper" level rather than an overdose of chlorine. It's still chlorinated water.

Pretty much, yes. You test to the same chlorine levels as a regular pool, but you also have to test your salt level. If your salt level gets to low, it won't generate enough chlorine to keep your pool at the right level. People like them because they're cheaper and easier to maintain (we add salt at most once a year, instead of adding chlorine weekly).

The pools were definitely chlorinated when we went in September. Not sure I would want to swim in a Disney pool, with many small children and leaky swim nappies if it wasn't!

I think Disney uses bromine in pools, not chlorine.

It's chlorinated water made from salt water. The dissolved salt water (sodium chloride) has an electrical current passed through it, which "splits off" the chlorine and results in the formation of chlorine compounds that sanitize the water.

Disney hasn't used that in forever.

Yep. My youngest is somewhat sensitive to chlorine, and tends to have a particular problem with hotel pools because they tend to be overchlorinated compared to home or school pools (I guess because of the need to compensate for so many more bodies and the aforementioned leaky swim nappies). But the bromine that Disney uses is much easier on her skin than the chlorine used elsewhere.
